Chapter 218
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 218
âDonât you know this game? Itâs super easy!â Daphne stood up and explained to Annalise, âWe all form a circle. You say âI love youâ to the person on your left and âshamelessâ to the person on your right. You cannot say more than three sentences consecutively between two people. If someone messes up, they have to drink!â
âIâm still confusedâ¦â Annalise pointed at Daphne, âCan you show me how itâs done?â
Daphne gave Annalise a helpless look, and turned to the person on her left, âI love you!â
However, she had forgotten that Lionel was the one sitting on her left.
The room was dimly lit, and Lionelâs eyes were sparkling under the light. He smiled at Daphne, who was standing on his right, âI love you too.â
The expressions in the room instantly became complicated.
Daphneâs face turned red. She angrily told Lionel, âWrong! You should have said âshamelessâ!â
Lionel seemed to enjoy seeing Daphne angry. He nodded obediently, âYouâre shameless.â
âNot âyouâre shamelessâ, just âshamelessâ! Just say it like that!â Daphne wondered if Lionel was genuinely clueless or if he was messing with her. She preferred to believe that Lionel was just being silly.
Finally, Lionel cooperated and said to Daphne, âShameless.â
Daphne turned to Julie sitting next to her, âShameless.â
Julie nodded, âSure, I was indeed shameless back in school.â
âJulie, canât you just play along?â Daphne glared at Julie.
Julie looked at Daphne with a smile, âI love you.â
Daphne didnât have the courage to turn to Lionel and say âI love youâ again, so she turned to Julie again and said, âShameless.â
Then she explained to Annalise, âBecause Julie and I have already exchanged three sentences, Julie now has to turn to Kieran and say âI love youâ. Do you get it
now?â
âOh!â Annalise suddenly understood. She slapped the table like Adeline usually does, âI got it! Letâs get this party started!â
âAre we
going with the current seating arrangement?â Dylan asked.
âThis seating is perfect. My wife loves me, Kieran immediately replied.
âDisgusting!â Dylan looked at Kieran coldly.
The current seating arrangement indeed seemed interesting. Dylan suggested, âHow about we do a trial run? Starting from Mr. Watson, okay?â
Marlon turned to Lionel on his right, âShameless.â
Lionel raised an eyebrow at Marlon, âI love youâ
Marlon glanced at Harding on his left, but decided to turn to Lionel again, âShameless!â
Lionel turned to Daphne with a big laugh, âShameless.â
Daphne turned to Julie on her right, âShameless.â
Julie turned to Kieran, âShameless.â
Kieran, âI love you.â
Julie, âShameless!â
Kieran, âI love you.â
Dylan exclaimed, âAre you two messing around? You guys have already exchanged more than three sentences! Bottoms up! Kieran, you keep telling her âI love youâ tonight! I donât believe you two wonât get wasted!â
Dylan handed two drinks to Julie and Kieran, âI propose they toast each other. Any objections?â
Everyone unanimously said, âNo objections.â
Kieran looked at Julie helplessly, âDarling, are you going to toast with me?â
âOr should I give you my drink, and you can toast yourself?â Julie raised her eyebrows, a naughty smile on her face.
Kieranâs lips curled up in a smile. He leaned in and whispered, âWhat was that surprise you promised me last night?â
Julie smiled slightly, clinked her glass against Kieranâs, and downed her drink in one go.
Round two.
Dylan turned to Adeline on his left, âI love you.â
Adeline, who had Elliot on her left, looked into Elliotâs eyes and said with a smile, âI love you.â
This âI love youâ didnât sound like it was part of the game, but rather like a confession that had been suppressed for years. This left Elliot stunned. He knew that even if he called Adeline âshamelessâ now, it would just be part of the game, but in the end, he couldnât bring himself to do it. He turned to Annalise on his left and said, âI love you.â
Annalise, without a second thought, turned to the person on her left and quickly said âI love youâ, because she clearly remembered that Hayden was on her left. But at some point, the person on her left had quietly become Payne. Annaliseâs cheerful mood instantly dropped.
Payne, on the other hand, was thrilled since Julien was on his left.
He grinned and loudly said to Julien, âI love you!!â
Julien didnât want to engage with Payne, so she tumed to the person on her left and said, ââ¦am shameless!â
Julien originally wanted to say âI love you,â but suddenly realized that the person on her left was Hayden.
Everyone in the room burst into laughter.
Hayden calmly handed a glass of red wine to Julien and looked down at her arrogantly. Under the dim light, his eyes seemed to have a special penetrating power.
Julien knew very well, this man was getting back at her!
She picked up the glass, downed the wine in one go, then shot Hayden a glare.
âI donât mind that you love me.â He whispered in her ear.
Haydenâs voice was very soft. He thought only he and Julien could hear what he said, but Payne, who had excellent hearing, heard it loud and clear. So, he also said to Julien shyly, âJulien, I donât mind you calling me shameless either, but why would you call yourself shameless?â
âNext round, next round!â Dylan turned to Harding on his right, âShameless.â
Harding turned to Marlon, âShameless.â
Marlon said to Lionel, âShameless.â
Lionel turned around and said to Marlon, âI love you.â
The game was picking up pace. Marlon, following the rules, turned to Harding on his left and said, âI love you!â
Harding was taken aback. After about a second, Marlon poked his waist lightly, and Harding snapped back to reality. He looked at Marlon and said in a daze, âI love⦠shamelessâ¦â
âHa!â Daphne couldnât help but burst out laughing, âYou love shameless? What does that mean?â
Everyone else tried to stifle their laughter.
Harding glared at Daphne and said to Marlon, âI support you taking her to a hotel room. Otherwise, sheâll never learn her lesson!â
With that, he gazed on Daphne, picked up his glass, and downed it in one go. Daphne was left speechless, remembering how close she came to being dragged into a hotel by Mr. Watson last time. She didnât dare say anything this timeâ¦
I
Lionel pointed at Marlon and Harding and asked, âAre you two actually having an affair?â
âDonât be ridiculous! Iâm so handsome and witty, how could I ever like a tailor like him?â
âThatâs a surgeon!â Dylan, as a forensic expert, couldnât help but defend Dr. Ladd. How dare Mr. Watson call a surgeon a tailor?
Marlon waved his hand and said, âI think this rule is too simple, itâs not interesting. How about we change it to this: everyone must say one good thing about the person on their left, or one bad thing about the person on their right. If you canât come up with anything, you have to drink. And you canât repeat whatâs been said.
âInteresting! But the first three people in each round canât quit voluntarily. If you want to quit, either you have to kiss the person on your left, or let the person on your right kiss you. Thatâs challenging enough, right?â Dylan seemed to have a lot of bad ideas. He looked at Adeline and said, âAlso, madam, please change all the wine here to liquor! Wine is not enough!â
Adeline ordered the waiter to replace the wine with liquor.
Payne looked excited. He raised his hand and said, âIâll go first!â
He wanted to compliment Julien, so he immediately turned to Julien on his left and said, âYouâre beautiful.â
âYouâre ugly,â Julien retorted.
âYouâre very honest,â Payne admitted, looking hurt.
Since they had already exchanged three sentences, Julien had to turn to Hayden to compliment him. Hayden seemed to enjoy it, as if he was waiting for Julien to compliment him. The first three people in each round canât quit voluntarily, or sheâd have to either kiss Hayden or let Payne kiss her. Clearly, neither option appealed
to her.
Payne said excitedly, âJulien, quit! Let me kiss you!â
In the end, Julien turned to Hayden and said, âYouâre handsome.â
Hayden agreed. He said to Julien, âYou donât love me. Thatâs a flaw that needs to be corrected.â
Although Hayden said this, she had to continue complimenting him, âYouâre tall!â
Hayden couldnât tease her anymore. He turned to Kieran and said, âYouâre trustworthy.â
Kieran turned his head and looked at Julie, saying, âYouâre delicious.â
If Kieran wasnât so strong, Julie would have kicked him into outer space. In the end, she responded, âYouâre full of yourself!â
âYouâre beautiful, and youâre always right.â
Julie was speechless.
Everyone thought that probably only Julie would dare to talk to Mr. Hernandez like this.
Julie turned her head to Daphne and said, âDaphne, youâre a good friend.â
Daphne responded to Julie, âYouâre always a brown-noser.â
Julie laughed, âDaphne, youâve always taken good care of me.â
Julieâs sincerity touched Daphne. Now it was her turn to compliment Lord Lion. The usually sharp-tongued Daphne turned her head and found Lionelâs face almost a lashâs length away from her own.
So, she forgot everything she had prepared to say. The only thing left in Daphneâs brain was, âGreat in bed!â
Luckily, Daphne had enough sense not to say that out loud.
She boldly reached for the drink in front of Lionel, ready to down it. At this moment, Julien, sitting across from her, suddenly frowned and said, âCan pregnant women drink?â
