Chapter 219
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 219
Dylan shot back, âNo shit, Sherlock. Pregnant women canât drink spirits, but there are no pregnant women here.â
He barely finished speaking when he noticed the change in Daphneâs expression. Dylan was known for his sharp observation skills, he stood up immediately, pointing at Daphne in shock, âHoly crap, youâre pregnant?â
âCut the crap!â Daphne snapped back at Dylan, her tone as harsh as if she was wrongly accused, âYouâre the one whoâs pregnant!â
Seeing Daphneâs reaction, Julien felt guilty and turned to Hayden for help, âSo this is a secret?â
âMaybe Lionel isnât the father.â Julien and Hayden were whispering, keeping their voices low. But they didnât expect a sudden eerie silence in the room after Daphne spoke, making Haydenâs voice stand out.
His words echoed in the room, everyoneâs eyes were on Lionel.
At that moment, Lionel was staring at Daphne. To Daphne, Lionel was always polite, gentle to his fans, handsome and charming. He could be a bit of a scoundrel around her, but she had never seen him look at her like this.
It felt like a knife was held at her throat, one wrong word from her could lead to a disaster.
Daphne was determined, come hell or high water, she would not reveal the truth in front of everyone.
Especially when she couldnât keep the baby!
âPregnant women canât drink spirits, but Iâm not pregnant.â Daphneâs hand holding the glass was slightly pale due to the force she used. She gathered her courage, ready to down the drink.
âDaphne!â Julie suddenly yelled, startling Daphne.
She knew what Julie was worried about. She also knew the consequences of drinking this spirit. But she knew she couldnât keep the baby!
So she turned her head and stared at Julie firmly, saying, âDonât try to stop me, a bets a bet. I have to drink this or Iâll look like a coward.â
Julie knew that once Daphne made up her mind, it was hard to change it. If Daphne really drank this, it would mean she was determined to abandon the baby.
But Julie knew Daphne. If Daphne was really determined to give up the baby, she wouldnât be wearing a radiation suit while using the computer.
So, Julie grabbed Daphneâs arm, clutching her stomach, âDaphne, my stomach hurts. Can you accompany me to the bathroom?â
Daphne finally understood. What a good excuse, why didnât she think of it?
Daphne immediately put on a smile and said to everyone, âSorry, nature calls.â
She put on an impatient face looking at Julie, âAh, Julie, always causing a fuss, spoiling the fun, right?â
âRight, always me!â Julie quickly agreed, hoping to get Daphne out of this dangerous place. In fact, she should not have let Daphne join tonightâs event. However, just as Daphne was about to get up from the couch, a hand suddenly held her shoulder, pushing her back.
Daphne knew her plan was futile. She gently tried to remove Lionelâs hand from her shoulder, âLionel, I need to use the bathroom, Iâm in a hurry.â
âThe bathroom isnât going anywhere. You can drink first and then go.â Lionelâs tone was always calm, but anyone could feel his mood was far from calm. Daphne laughed and said, âThen Iâll drink after I come back from the bathroom, the drink wonât run away.â
âBut you have legs, you can run!â Lionel pushed the glass back to Daphne, âDrink it!â
Julie was about to reach for the drink in front of Daphne when Kieran suddenly pulled her into his arms. He whispered in her ear, âLionel wonât let her drink.â Julie looked at Kieran doubtfully. Although she couldnât be sure if he was right, she eventually decided not to stop Daphne because she wanted to see Lionelâs true intentions. Besides, she would never let Daphne drink it no matter what.
Most importantly, she hoped Daphne and Lionel could honestly resolve their issues, instead of repeating her past mistakes.
Daphne looked at Lionel with her beautiful eyes.
Seeing she made no move, Lionel helped her put her hand on the glass, âDidnât you say you would honor the bet? Then drink!â
Today, Lionel was clearly determined to oppose her!
Daphne was also determined to fight him to the end. She took a deep breath and lifted the glass, âFine, Iâll drink!â
Just as she was about to drink, her lips hadnât touched the glass when she heard Lionelâs voice, âOnce youâre finished, Iâll take you to Hardingâs hospital for a check-up to see if Dylan misunderstood you.â
Daphneâs hand holding the glass trembled. She asked in confusion, âWhy?â
âBecause I believe in your integrity. I believe you when you said youâre not pregnant.
Usually eloquent Daphne was left speechless by Lionelâs words. After a while, she finally made up her mind and slammed the glass down on the table.
The room fell into an eerie silence again.
If you donât perish in silence, you explode in silence.
Just when everyone thought Daphne was about to explode, sho
spirits?â
quietly sat back on the couch, then turned to everyone and asked, âCan I use juice instead of
What a surprise! Julie looked at Daphne, but remained silent, unable to help her.
Adeline, however, was quite bold. She clapped her hands and called the waiter, Get a dozen fresh orange juices, they must be 100% fresh. Golâ
The waiter went out to prepare the orange juice.
Lionel stood up, holding Daphneâs hand, and told everyone, âWe have some issues to deal with. You guys carry on.â
âMr. Lionel!â Julie suddenly stood up, grabbing Daphneâs other hand.
âDonât worry, Iâll get her home safe and sound tomorrow, wonât lay a finger on her!â Lionel knew what Julie was fretting about.
Daphne was even more panicked, knowing Lionel didnât need to lay a hand on her, just his gaze alone was enough to scare her, and she held this belief true.
But not wanting to cause trouble for Julie, and knowing this issue had to be dealt with sooner or later, Daphne finally gave Julie a reassuring look, âI promise, Iâll come back alive to find you tomorrow!â
It was Lionel who led Daphne out of the private room by the hand. It was clear, despite Lionelâs slight anger at Daphneâs secrecy, he still cared about her. Even when holding her hand, he didnât angrily drag her along..
This action eased Julieâs worries slightly.
Daphneâs last words when leaving the room were whispered to Lionel, âIf I said the baby inside me isnât yours, would you believe me?â
The people in the room couldnât help but feel tense for Daphne.
âHow did Lionel and Daphne end up together?â Mr. Watson suddenly turned to Julien with great interest.
Julien once kidnapped Marlon, which turned out to be a blessing in disguise. They had a pretty good relationship, but Julien didnât mince words when answering Marlonâs question.
He coldly replied, âI have no idea how you and Dr. Ladd ended up together, how would I know how Daphne and Mr. Lionel did?â
Mr. Watson was stumped by his words, and instead became more spirited. He slapped Dylanâs shoulder and said, âTonightâs goal is to bring down Kerry first, then target Julie! I want to see how many good points she can say about the second brother tonight!â
In the private room, a new round of games began..
Outside the private room, after being led out by Lionel, Daphne was still in shock when a suit jacket was thrown over her head. Then she suddenly felt weightless as Lionel straight picked her up.
She reached out and lifted the suit jacket off her head, âWhat the hell are you doing? Didnât you say you wouldnât hurt me?â
âJust scream your lungs out, better yet, call out everyone in the private room. Maybe youâll even run into some paparazzi if youâre lucky. Iâve already thought of tomorrowâs headline for the gossip column: Mr. Lionel spends hours entwining with a mysterious woman in KTV, and the womanâs identity suspected to beâ¦â
Before Lionel could finish, Daphne obediently covered her head with the jacket, wrapped up tightly, without leaving a single gap.
How much did she detest being in the news with him?
âDaphne, do you know how many actresses want to be scandalous with me?â Lionelâs disgruntled voice came from above.
Daphneâs innocent voice came from under the jacket, âLord Lion, youâre amazing!â
Daphne was definitely the most carefree person heâd ever met, yet someone you could truly rely on.
The naive Daphne thought Lionel would take her out, but the further they went, the quieter it got.
A bad feeling rushed into her heart, Daphne quickly lifted the jacket off her head.
The waiter stood respectfully in front of Lionel, âMr. Lionel, hereâs your room card.â
Lionel took the room card and opened the door, before Daphne could understand what had happened, Lionel took her straight into the room, then slammed the door shut with a bang.
