Chapter 220
Love’s Cunning Ruse ( Mr.Kieran And Julie )
Chapter 220
Daphne lifted her head, but before she could see Lionelâs angry face, he already had her pinned against the door, looming over her. They were so close she could almost make out the fine fuzz on his face.
âIs the kid not mine?â he asked in a very gentle tone, his face relaxed.
Daphne gave a nervous laugh. âWhat if it is?â
âWell, letâs get an abortion then. Iâll pay for the procedure and the recovery. Weâre still young and donât really know each other that well. Having this kid now isnât a good choice for either of us. If in the future we find that weâre really suited for each other, there will be plenty of chances to have kids, donât you think?â Lionel straightened up, giving Daphne a deep look, then took a step back, giving her some space.
Daphne was taken aback, then laughed and clapped her hands, nodding at Lionel. âYouâre so right, Lionel. Weâre still young, and you, a handsome and rich guy, are in your prime. In the future, youâre bound to achieve great things. How could we let something trivial like love and a child affect your judgment and future? Having this kid is not beneficial for either of us! We are indeed in sync!â
Daphne reached out her hand for a handshake to show their agreement.
But Lionel just stared at her coldly. âIn sync? Daphne! Whatâs going on in that head of yours? An abortion? I will pay for the procedure? I will pay for the recovery? Am I hiring a hitman to kill my own child? Am I fucking crazy?â
Daphne quickly shrunk her neck in fear, worried that Lord Lion might hit her if he got angry.
Did Lionel just curse? Sure did, he even used foul language.
She had known Lionel for a long time, but had never heard him use such language before. Daphne huddled by the door, her heart a mess of indescribable pain.
After listening to Lionelâs angry words, Daphne decided to remain silent.
But Lionel wasnât about to let her off the hook. He reached out, grabbed her chin, and forced her to look at him. âSpeak up, youâre usually so chatty. If we hadnât brought this up tonight, would I be erecting a tombstone for my daughter in a few days? Have you already found a hospital?â
âHow did you know itâs a girl?â Daphne blurted out innocently, immediately regretting it. She quickly covered her mouth and gave Lionel an innocent grin.
âI want a daughter, is there a problem with that?â he said defiantly.
Daphne pouted. âMy mom says Iâm built to have boys. Weâre not a good match, Lord Lion.â
âDo you want me to raise you as my daughter?â
Lionelâs interpretation was beyond imagination!
Daphne shook her head. âHaving a daughter like me would give you lots of trouble, so you donât need to worry.â
âDonât use your limited wit to change the subject. Iâm asking you, which hospital are you planning to have the procedure at?â
âHope Hospital,â Daphne quickly answered.
Seeing Lionelâs expression, Daphne immediately changed her answer with a laugh. Havenât decided yet.â
She carefully looked at Lionelâs expression, and realizing that he didnât really care about the answer, she immediately shut up.
âYou seem to love Hope Hospital so much, why donât you give birth there?â Lionel said, turning and heading towards the bed.
Daphne stood there stunned for a moment, then realizing what he meant, she immediately ran towards Lionel.
âCould you run any faster? Why donât you fly over here?â Lionelâs disgruntled voice came from the bed.
Daphne immediately slowed down, then sat next to Lionel. âLord Lion, what did you mean by giving birth? You want this child?â
âDaphne, you seem like youâre scared of trouble, but youâre quite daring in your actions,â Lionel said, turning to look at Daphne sitting next to him.
Intimidated by Lionelâs gaze, Daphne immediately stood up. âIf I were daring, this child would be long gone!â
Lionel was lost for words.
Daphne was telling the truth. She had initially used a pregnancy test, and after finding out she was pregnant, she went to the hospital. The results were the same- she was pregnant!
Upon confirming her pregnancy, she knew she couldnât keep the child, so she immediately booked an abortion.
While waiting for the procedure, she looked up videos of painless abortions to encourage herself. Seeing the cold instruments, she decided to flee the hospital.
That night, she had several nightmares in her apartment.
But she knew the child was an accident, the so-called unplanned pregnancy. Even though she knew Lionel was a decent person, she couldnât accept his womanizing ways.
Even if the child were to be born, they wouldnât be able to form a complete family. Thinking about the scenes from TV shows, the philandering father having affairs, the mother struggling to raise the child, and the child being neglected by the father, it was too painful to imagine.
So, Daphne decided to go for the operation the next day and booked another specialist at Hope Hospital.
While waiting for the operation, she downloaded a video of a cesarean section to encourage herself. Seeing the bloody scene, she kept comforting herself that an abortion was better, at least there would be no scar on her stomach and it wouldnât be as bloody as a cesarean section. If she really had to give birth, with a cesarean section, no good father for the child, and possibly no ability to raise the child, it would be even worse.
So, under the stimulus of the cesarean section video, she finally made up her mind and was ready to go into the operation room.
However, the patient before her had severe bleeding and was carried out. The scene was shocking, and seeing the womanâs pale face and bloody sheets, Daphne quickly fled.
In the end, she helplessly returned to her apartment from the hospital, even buying a radiation protection matemity dress on the way home.
Later, she felt very helpless and could only go home to search for the most reliable gynecological hospital online while calling Julie, never expecting things to turn
out like this.
Daphne plucked up the courage and spilled the beans about her considering having an abortion. She then heaved a sigh and sat next to Lionel, âLionel, what should I do? Iâve never been sick but my mom predicted during a fortune telling session that I might face life-threatening danger! What if I bleed heavily during the abortion?â
âYou bleed heavily every month and you are still alive and kicking, right? Did the fortune teller also predict that you will meet a benefactor, and that benefactor is me, Lionel?â
Bleed heavily every month? Isnât that a reference to menstruation?
Lionel is a benefactor? Are you sure heâs not a jinx?
Wouldnât she have avoided being pregnant out of wedlock if not for him?
Daphne was brimming with complaints but kept them to herself. Instead, she asked Lionel, âCan you help me find a reliable hospital? I donât want to be a single mom. I canât even support myself, let alone raise a child!â.
âI will raise the child if you give birth.â Lionel had not initially said this, but now he had given it serious thought.
However, to Daphne, Lionelâs words were pure nonsense!
âArenât you only interested in having a daughter? The fortune teller said I would only have sons!â
âDaphne, are you trying to test my patience?â Lionel squinted at Daphne.
She quickly shook her head, âSo, you mean I should give birth to this child? Then what? Weâll take turns taking care of the kid?â
âHow about this, on rainy days, the child stays with me, and on sunny days with you, what do you think?â Lionel suddenly proposed his suggestion.
Daphne was puzzled, looked up at him, âWhy does the child have to be with you on rainy days and with me on sunny ones?â
âIâm afraid the child will get water on the brain like you if he steps out in the rain.â
Daphne mustered up the courage to glare at Lionel, âLionel, you have a way of insulting people without swearing!â

âIâm afraid you wouldnât understand if I used swear words.â Lionel helplessly looked at Daphne, then placed his hand on her shoulder, very seriously saying, âDaphne, give me some time. The child in your belly canât have any problems, nor can you.â
âDo you want this child?â Daphne also looked at Lionel very seriously, seemingly with some expectation.
Lionel nodded, âIndeed, things happened so suddenly, itâs because I didnât take enough precautions.â
âIâm to blame too. I was only thinking about taking STD preventatives and forgot the birth control.â Daphne immediately shut up and smiled at Lionel, âLionel, go on,
Iâm all ears!â
âDaphne, are you trying to get yourself killed?â Daphne had once again interrupted their serious conversation.
Daphne quickly waved her hands, innocently saying, âHaha, I know youâre clean, I trust you, really! The doctor told me thereâs no such thing as STD preventatives, didnât take any, really!â
Forget about it, itâs a blessing from heaven if you can have a conversation with Daphne without getting pissed off.
Lionel frowned at Daphne and said, âIndeed, this situation was unexpected, but I will take responsibility for you and the child in your belly. Trust me, give me some time to handle this.â
âOh. So, do you still want the child?â
âDaphne!â
âGot it, no surgery! Youâve shouted my ears deaf.â
Story
Lord Lion: Daphne, youâre a dumbass.
Daphne: Even a dumbass isnât safe from you, what does that make you?
Lord Lion: A retard!
Daphne: I concede defeat.
