Chapter 412
Meet My Brothers
Timothy sat back in his chair, calmly observing Jason standing before him.
After a moment of scrutiny. Jason handed over his business card.
âIâm a lawyer with Beacon Attorneys in Nord City. Iâm here to represent Ms. Bowen in discussing the
divorce proceedings between you two.â
Timothy glanced at the business card on the table before returning his gaze to Jason. âWhat does she
want to discuss?â
Jason swiftly retrieved a stack of documents and laid them out on the table.
âHere is the
the draft of the property settlement agreement for your divorce, detailing the division of assets. Mr.
Barrett, please take a moment to review it.â
Without glancing at the documents, Timothy remarked, âWasnât she previously set on taking nothing?
What led to this change of heart?â
Mia had not only changed her stance but had also sent the top lawyer from the Lane family to negotiate
with Timothy!
It seemed like Mia had truly outdone herself this time.
Upon hearing this. Jason realized that Connor had hit the mark. Indeed, Mia genuinely didnât want any
of Timothyâs assets!
However, as an experienced lawyer, Jason had dealt with enough divorce cases to understand that
assets were the most reliable leverage; he was determined to make Timothy pay a hefty price!
Jason spoke calmly, saying, âThese details arenât important, Mr. Barrett. But for the divorce to go.
smoothly. I recommend reviewing these documents. If you have no objections, you can just sign
n them.â
Timothy accepted the documents with a cold expression, neglecting to read its contents. He signed the
last page and then forcefully set the documents down in front of Jason.
Narrowing his eyes, Timothy warned. âPlease let Mia know that if she changes her mind again in the
future, she shouldnât expect me to be accommodating.â
Glancing at Timothyâs signature. Jason raised an eyebrow. âAre you sure you donât want to review it?â
âThereâs nothing in there thatâs worth my attention,â Timothy replied curtly.
Indeed, Timothy was known for his straightforward nature.
Jason nodded and retrieved one of the copies, placing it on Timothyâs desk. âAs per the agreement, Mr.
Barrett, you should start handling the procedures in the next few days.â
Timothy, however, simply gazed at the documents before casually tossing them toward Heath. âYou
take
care of it.â
After Jason finished packing up the documents, he stole another glance at Timothy. âEven though Mia
spent three years of her life married to you, at least youâre handling this divorce like a man.â
Timothy remained silent. He didnât view this comment as a compliment.
After Jason left, Heath reviewed the property settlement agreement and suddenly broke out in a cold
sweat. âSir, are you sure you donât want to look over the agreement?â
Was Timothy oblivious to the fact that he was on the brink of bankruptcy?
After completing her tasks on campus, Mia checked the time and decided to head home promptly for
dinner.
Today had been exhausting, and she planned to rest early to tackle tomorrowâs workload.
Approaching the universityâs entrance, Mia spotted Jason stepping out of a car parked by the
roadside.â
Mia, over here,â he called.
âJason, what brings you here?â Mia asked as she approached with a cheerful step.
Jason handed her a lunch box, saying, âHave some food to keep you going. There might be traffic on
your way back.â
âThanks, Jason.â
As Mia settled into the passenger seat, she noticed a briefcase. âJason, did you come from work?â
âYeah, I just finished handling a divorce case.â
As Jason calmly drove away, he glanced at Mia in the passenger seat. âFeel free to open it and take a
look.â
Miaâs hand paused, a sudden sense of unease washing over her.
She retrieved the documents from the briefcase and saw the title âProperty Settlement Agreement.â
As she perused the detailed list of assets, her face paled in shock.
