Chapter 487
Meet My Brothers
Mia looked at Eva. Everything felt surreal to her, especially when Eva gave the other party a reality
check by flashing her VIP membership card.
Eva was so cool.
Eva let out a wry cough. âYour brothersâ businesses are on the roll lately. The companies that are
supposed to be listed are listed. I previously invested my wedding gift in their startups and I now should
receive my returns, shouldnât I?â
âIs this how successful their businesses are?â Something felt off to Mia, but she couldnât quite put her
finger on it.
Eva went silent for a moment. When she was going to say something, Miaâs phone rang.
Mia checked her phone and realized that it was a message from Timothy. âDone shopping?â
She had a guessâSharon mightâve snitched to that bastard.
âMia, whoâs texting you?â asked Eva.
âA friend.â Hurriedly, Mia kept her phone.
The store manager approached her with a warm smile. âThis is a bag from our latest collection. It
complements the dress really well. Do you like it?â
Evaâs eyes casually observed the bag. âOh, itâs rare to come across this kind of leather. Why didnât you
bring it out earlier? Were you afraid that I couldnât afford it?â
The manager said apologetically, âNo. We have a rule for selling this bag. We have to wait three days
before we can sell it.â
That strange rule piqued Miaâs interest. âIf so, why are you bringing it out right now?â
âWeâd like to make up for the misunderstanding that occurred, Mrs. Barrett.â
âMrs. Barrett?â Her expression shifted. âDid Timothy tell you to do this?â
Realizing that she had made a slip of the tongue, the manager covered her mouth out of fear.
Eva pulled Miaâs hand. âWe donât need this bag, Mia. Tell Timothy Barrett that we can afford these
bags. We donât need the Barretts!â
Eva didnât seem to be surprised at all. Besides, she didnât question anything about Timothy when
Shelly misspoke a while ago.
Baffled, Mia asked, âEva, have you long known what happened between Timothy and I?â
âSeems like I canât keep it a secret anymore.â Eva motioned for the store manager to leave before
sighing. âSilly girl. Why didnât you tell us sooner? About you and the Barretts? Are you afraid of causing
us trouble?â
Mia gave a nod. âYeah, weâre in Bern City. Plus, thereâs nothing between us anymore, so I figured
thereâs no need to tell you guys about it.â
âThatâs your oneâsided thought, Mia. I donât think Timothy feels the same way. He even gifted you such
an expensive bag!â
There was an unnatural shift to Miaâs expression as she lowered her voice. âHeâs worried that his
grandmother might find out about our divorce. Itâll take a toll on her health.â
Eva scoffed, âThatâs why Timothy, that jerk, doesnât want to divorce?â
âYeah,â answered Mia,
Eva slammed the couch in a fit of fury. âDonât be afraid, Mia. Leave the divorce to Jason. Weâll make
sure
to empty his bank accounts!â
âI know how to deal with this, Eva.â
âMia, oh, Mia, Youâve suffered a lot because of the Barretts during those three years, havenât you? I can
tell from how haughty your motherâinâlaw is. But things are different now. You have us, your family.
Weâve got your back. Thereâs nothing to be afraid of. Dominic and I will go to their doorstep and
demand an explanation. How dare that witch bully you! Sheâs got a death wish!â
That was the last thing Mia wanted.
She pulled Evaâs hand. âEva, I just want to leave in peace. I donât want to have anything to do with
them
anymore.â
