Chapter 613
Meet My Brothers
Tears trickled down Timothyâs hand as Ginger found solace in his arms, weeping profusely.
He couldnât fathom the source of her abundant tears.
She appeared to be quite the sensitive little one!
Gingerâs cries were gentle, almost like a whimper. Although Timothy usually couldnât tolerate children
crying, he found his heart melting at the sight of Gingerâs tears.
Timothy stood still, tenderly holding Ginger. As a person who usually kept to himself, he felt as though
he had ventured into unfamiliar territory. After all, he had never comforted a child before.
A tension settled over the atmosphere.
Turning to Matthew, Timothy inquired, âCould you please explain what is happening here?â
âMr. Barrett, weâre not entirely sure either. Itâs quite surprising that a child like her managed to wander
off and hide in this place. Our staff searched the vicinity but couldnât locate her.â
Timothyâs lips tightened. âBut she claimed someone was trying to kidnap her.â
âMr. Barrett, thatâs simply not the case. Why would our hotel staff have any motive to kidnap a child?
She likely became frightened by our staff and mistakenly believed they were attempting to take her
away.â
Timothy shifted his gaze to the tearful Ginger in his arms. âDo you remember who was trying to take
you away? Can you describe what they looked like?â
Gingerâs crying eventually stopped, and she wiped away the moisture from the corners of her eyes, her
eyelashes clumped together with remnants of tears.
With red, puffy eyes, Ginger cast a pitiful gaze at Timothy. âI couldnât see clearly, but they were dressed
like him.â
Upon hearing this, Timothy shot a cold glance at Matthew. âYou better provide a plausible explanation.â
âMr. Barrett, this is all just a misunderstanding. Our intention wasnât to kidnap her; we were simply
trying
to locate her. After all, children her age can get scared and say things that arenât true.â
âIâm not lying!â Ginger protested, feeling increasingly aggrieved. âPlease, mister, you have to believe
me.â
Timothy gazed at her. âI do believe you.â
Just then, a striking woman named Lena Kimmel approached. âWhatâs happening? I heard a child went
missing.â
Matthew replied respectfully, âYes, Ms. Kimmel, a child did go missing. However, she claimed that
someone from our hotel was trying to abduct her. How could that be possible?â
Lena nodded, casting a glance at Ginger nestled in Timothyâs arms. She smiled and stated, âMr.
Barrett, as Matthew mentioned, thereâs no motive for our staff to kidnap a young girl.
Timothy realized he wouldnât get any answers at the moment. He simply walked away, carrying Ginger
in
his arms.
Once they were gone. Lenaâs demeanor shifted.
âWhat a bunch of dingbats! You canât even kidnap a little child. What good are you all?â she berated.
âMs. Kimmel, none of us anticipated this little girl would be so cunning. She seemed compliant at first.
but in the blink of an eye, she disappeared and even managed to hide in a coffin. Who could have
predicted that?â
âHow incompetent! Besides, whatâs the connection between this girl and Timothy?â
âIâm not entirely sure, perhaps they arrived together,â
âWhereâs Caleb?â
With that, Lena turned and headed toward the basement.
Matthew wiped the sweat from his forehead, surprised theyâd been outsmarted by a little girl. Despite
their tireless search, they couldnât apprehend her.
Nonetheless, he couldnât understand why they needed to catch that little girl.
Meanwhile, Timothy escorted Ginger back to his room.
He settled her on the sofa and gazed down at her. âWere you scared?â
Ginger shook her head adamantly. âI wasnât!â
Despite her confident assertion, her voice trembled with emotion, and tears shimmered on her
eyelashes.
She was quite the tough little crybaby.
Timothy felt somewhat helpless. âHow did you get my phone number?â
âMister, I found your business card in the car.â
