Party Crasher

3 am;

I had an uneventful day today. I stayed home bed rotting. Collin took Levi out for mini golf so it was just us girls home all day. Levi starts baseball camp next week so Collin is hoping to get as much time in with him now to make up for the few weeks.

I was hoping Jessie would come bed rot with me but she was downstairs all day with my mom. I guess they were bonding. She and I haven't been on great terms for the past year or so. She must be replacing me. Good, I won't have to talk to her anymore. The more logical explanation is they are bonding after Jessie sneaked out and my mom going to get her. Jessie was also probably hanging out with her because my mom didn't tell her dad.

"Harper" She whispers when she opens my door.

Thank god we're back to our regular talks after she ditched me yesterday.

"I'm up. You don't have to whisper" I was sitting in my bed watching TV. I went to bed at a semi-decent hour and then woke up at 2:30 to my alarm. She comes and sits next to me on the bed.

"Why do you always stay up until three in the morning? It's not healthy. You only get like five hours of sleep that I know of" I say.

"I'm fine" She says.

"Are you sure you are ok?" I ask. I would never admit this to her sometimes I wonder and then worry about her she staying up so late. What if she can't sleep because something is bothering her?

"Yes. I'm fine" She says.

"Ok" I don't believe it.

"I have a question" That made me slightly nervous. I don't know why.

"What's up?" I ask.

"Are you like straight or bi or..." She trails off.

"Why?" I ask.

I'm going to be honest, I've never thought about it before. I've been questioning my relationship with Jessie. I am constantly comparing her to Casey. She is definitely a friend. I don't treat her like my other friends though. I treat her more like Casey. Maybe even better than Casey lately. Maybe I'm not straight.

"Because we kissed that one time, and then you flirt with me all the time even though you have a boyfriend and at that party, you were all over me then when we came back you tried to kiss me and you told me you loved me. I don't know if I'm just reading too much into it but... yeah" She says quickly.

"I'm not sure but I have these weird feelings for you that I've never had for any of my other friends"

"That's what I thought"

"Can we talk about you?" I need to deflect this conversation onto her.

"What is there to talk about" She says.

"When are you coming out to your father?" I ask.

"Stop pressuring me to come out." She pauses for a minute.

"But I don't know. I've been thinking about it. Probably soon. Like after I come home from my mom's in a few weeks" She says.

"I'll be there with you if you want me to"

"This is something I have to do by myself. I do want you to eavesdrop though." She says.

"I'll do that" Just as I am saying that the door swings open. I look and it is Levi. We both say hi to him.

"Why do you always come in here really late at night?" He asks.

"We just talk" I say.

"What do you talk about?" He comes over and sits on my bed.

"A lot of different stuff. Sometimes we just watch TV" Jessie says.

"Do you ever talk about me?" He asks.

"Sometimes" She says.

"What do you say?" He asks.

"We talk about how cute you are" I say. He smiles big.

"It's ok if you want to have sleepovers in here. I'll be ok in our room by myself" Levi says to her.

"Thanks, Levi but we probably won't have a sleepover" Jessie says.

"But if we do it will be downstairs in the living room and you will be there" I say.

"Yay. I can't wait" He says. No one says anything for a couple of seconds. "Come on Jessie. Let's go to bed"

She says ok and stands up. Levi hugs me and says goodnight. I say goodnight and hug him back. He starts walking out.

"I'll be right there" She says to him.

"Ok" He says. He goes into his room. Jessie closes my bedroom door.

"Are you ready?" She asks. I nod my head and smile. She bends down and she kisses me on the cheek. "Goodnight"

"Goodnight" I say back.

She left the room. I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling. So many thoughts were racing through my head.
