Chapter 22

The Fun Sister

Step Sisters (girlxgirl)

{I'm so sorry for going MIA. I have officially hit what I like to call the Dog Days of Summer. This chapter was a struggle to write. I have the next 10 chapters written so more regular updates are coming. I also needed to finish school before I continued writing. This semester absolutely kicked my ass.

Thank you all for 30k reads!! It means a lot to me, I honestly thought this story would get 100 reads if I was lucky.

Also, life updates I blocked someone on Wattpad for the first time after being on here for 8 years. I'm just going to take out my personal grudges right here; if you made a second account to read this, fuck you.

Anyway, I'm seeing Chappell Roan in concert next week. Can't wait to go to the Pink Pony Club. My friends and I have been making bracelets for weeks. I saw Girl In Red a few weeks ago. It was so iconic. She was running up and down the aisles of the venue. I'm trying to see all the queer icons live.

Enjoy the chapter even if I don't <3 }

I'm Levi's sister for the next week until Jessie returns, and I've done decent so far. I talk to him at dinner and sometimes breakfast if I'm awake. It's the bare minimum. I was his camp counselor once a few days ago. The past few days I have been at my dad's house. Levi is at camp most days anyway, so I don't see him much. Today he is off for the weekend, so I want to take him out to do something. My mom wouldn't mind. His dad might but I don't really care for his opinion.

I head downstairs and my mom and Levi are sitting at the counter eating breakfast.

"Hey" I say. My mom says good morning and Levi says hi. I sit on the stool next to my mom.

"Collin is hanging out with some buddies from high school at the beach today." Too much information; get to the point, Mom. "So it is just the three of us today," she says.

"I was thinking I could take Levi to the arcade today. He gets too much vitamin D, he needs to play some video games" I say.

My mom laughs. Levi starts yelling, "Yes! Yes! Yes!"

"I don't know I don't think he wants to go" My mom jokes.

"Yes, I do! I really do!" He exclaims.

"Ok, fine, you two can go," She says.

"Thank you!" Levi exclaims and runs upstairs.

"Where are you going?" I ask.

"I have to get dressed so we can leave" He says and disappears.

I turn to my mom, "I meant around noon, but I guess we can go now" She laughs.

I head upstairs and go to my room to get dressed. I chose a plain white baby tee and a pair of blue jeans. I leave my room and Levi leaves the guest room at the same time. "Ready bud?"

"Yes!" Levi exclaims and runs down the stairs ahead of me.

My mom is still in the kitchen. She hands me her card so he doesn't notice. We say bye to hear and then we were on our way.

"I call shotgun!" Levi says.

"No, you're still in the back," I say.

"Aw, fine" He says and gets into the back seat.

I get in the driver's seat and hand him my phone so he can choose the music. He puts on Taylor Swift. He definitely follows after his sister. Once he picks the song, I start driving.

"Did you eat any breakfast?" I ask.

"I took like two bites," He says.

"Want to stop and get bagels?" I ask.

"No offense but your bagels down here are gross," He says.

"It's the water," I joke. He didn't get it. "How about donuts?" I ask. I really just wanted to stop for an energy drink.

"I love donuts," He says.

We stop at the local donut place near my house. They didn't have an energy drink, but I love their coffee, so it makes up for it. After, we head to the arcade.

The place looks like every other nostalgic 80s arcade, with the squiggly line carpeting and neon lights from the games lighting up the room. It was pretty empty. There was only a mom here with her two young kids. I got us each a card, and Levi made a mad dash for the claw game. It was full of stuffed animals from current video games.

"You're never gonna win," I say.

"You sound like Jessie," He says. Wow, I can't believe she would crush the kid's hopes and dreams like I would.

He swipes the card, and the timer starts. He then gets the claw perfectly positioned over a Pokemon stuffed animal. He picks it up by the head, but once the claw reaches the top, it falls. Not to say I told you so, but I told him so.

"One more try," He says.

"I'm watching" I say.

He swipes the card one more time and I stand by watching him. I can tell by the look on his face he is super concentrated. He wants that Pokemon stuffed animal. He once again picks it up and surprisingly it doesn't fall once the claw reaches the top. It moves to the front left corner and drops the toy. He goes to pick it up from the little door.

"I told you I could do it! I told you" He jumps up and down while showing me the stuffed animal.

"Good job bud. I never doubted you for a second" I say

"That's a lie" He says.

I ignored that. "What do you want to play next?" I ask.

"The racing game" He says and points to a game with two motorcycles.

We play and I win. He was not happy about that so we played again. I win again and he still isn't happy. I guess the third time is a charm because he finally wins.

After we go and play an Angry Birds arcade game, he could probably sit here all day playing it. He is constantly playing the game on his iPad. He plays two or three times. He did pretty well given he wasn't used to the controls. After he decides he wants ice cream so we go to redeem his tickets. He got one of those finger traps and a small blow-up beach ball. I assumed we would be here longer but I guess crusty iPad kids have short attention spans. We can always come back and use his credits another day.

We get our ice cream at the place next door and then sit at the tables outside. He got vanilla ice cream in a cone with rainbow sprinkles. It was already melting all over him. I got strawberry in a cup.

"Did you have fun today?" I ask him.

"Yeah. Don't tell Jessie this but" He takes another lick from his cone. "you're more fun then her"

I guess I have fulfilled my temporary sister duties.
