Chapter 480
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 480
âAlso, you were just with Mr. Henry. Eugene and I came over to ask how heâs doing. Heâs Eugeneâs grandfather, after all.â
Concern might be written on Violaâs fair face, but the gleam in her eyes could not be ignored.
âWe had to trouble you today. If Mr. Henry wasnât feeling well, Eugene and I shouldâve brought him here. How could we let an outsider do it? Especially since youâre not even an employee at LeapCo now.â
Melanie looked at Viola and suddenly recalled Renyâs previous comment about how it was a pity that Viola did not get into acting. She was rather adept at putting on a show.
She was about to reply to her when an annoyed voice came from behind them. âSheâs an outsider? Then what are you? When did you become a part of the Scott family?â
Henry had arrived, cane in hand. He was seething. He glared at Eugene and scolded him, âGet over here!â
Melanie stuttered for a moment but then turned to look at Henry. âPlease donât get angry. Itâs not worth it,â she said softly. It was not because of anything else but genuine concern for his health.
Eugene looked up at Melanie, his brows furrowing slightly. He looked as if he was trying to reel back his impatience.
âThe doctor said Mr. Henry should avoid getting agitated. Eugene, if youâre worried about him, take Viola and leave,â Melanie said lightly.
Eugene did not react to her words, but Violaâs expression had turned cold. She looked at Melanie in disbelief, questioning the audacity Melanie had to command her as if she were the lady of the house.
Her gaze on Melanie instantly turned poisonous, but Melanie paid Viola no heed. She just looked at Eugene, waiting for his response.
Eugene was silent for a moment, his eyes revealing his turbulent thoughts.
Melanie belatedly realized that Eugene had seemed somewhat reserved ever since she saw him. at the hospital today. His thoughts were running deep, and it looked like he was suppressing something.
Lips pursed, she was about to say something when she suddenly heard Viola call out with distress as tears ran down her face, âIâm sorry, Mr. Henry. Itâs my fault for saying the wrong thing.
âPlease donât be angry with Eugene. Iâm just feeling very unwell, so I blurted out without thinking.â

Henry glanced at her briefly and immediately looked away disdainfully. âAre you crying in public to make it seem as though I bullied you?â
Violaâs usual tricks were not working with Henry, so she could only look at Eugene pitifully.
Eugene did not even spare her a glance. He stopped beside his grandfather and said respectfully, âIâll escort you back later.â
Expression still cold, Henry replied, âI donât need you to escort me.â
Eugene slowed down and looked directly at Melanie. His gaze was obscured, so it was hard to tell what he was feeling. âYouâre truly unparalleled when it comes to winning favors,â he said calmly, his voice devoid of any emotion.
Henry glared at him. âMel can win my favor, but what can you do?â
Eugene lowered his gaze and just let his grandfather vent. Only after Henry had had enough of scolding him did Eugene say, âItâs hot out. Iâll take you and Landon back later.â
Henry merely sternly replied once again, âMel picked me up early this morning and has been accompanying me this whole time. Are you blind?
âItâs fine if you want to send me back, but you have to send her back too! Alsoâ¦â Henry paused, displeasure written on his face as he glanced at Viola, who was behind Eugene. He continued, âNot everyone is qualified to sit with me.â
