Chapter 481
The Unfaithful Mr. Scott ( Melanie Smith )
Chapter 481
Henry was looking at Viola when he said this, and it was obvious who he was referring to.
Viola bit her lip. She looked upset, but she lowered her head to hide the unhappiness in her
eyes.
Eugeneâs voice was deep and calm. âSheâs not feeling well. She almost passed out in the office.â
Henry looked impatient. âThatâs her business. Doesnât she have any family or friends? Or even money to take a taxi?!â
He was adamant as he said, âLandon, give Miss Shaw a hundred bucks and get her to take a taxi home!â
Viola quivered from this almost humiliating treatment. Her hands fell on each side of her, and she clenched them hard.
Eugene frowned. The look in his dark eyes deepened.
He was silent for a while before looking at Melanie. âDo you need me to see you home?â
It sounded like a question, but Melanie knew Eugene well enough to know that he would not ask her this question if he wanted to take her home.
He wanted her to reject his offer by asking her the question.
Melanie did not want to see Violaâs pale face any longer. She handed the medicine she took from the dispensary over to Landon. âMr. Henryâs medication is all here. The instructions are written on it. Keep it well, Landon.â
She looked at the furious Henry and paused before saying, âI need to meet a client, Mr. Henry. I wonât be able to accompany you. Rest well and remember what the doctor told you.â
Henry frowned. He wanted Melanie to stay, but he choked back on his words when he saw the cold look on her face.
He kept quiet until Melanie left.
After that, he glared furiously at Eugene. âLook at what youâve done, you goodâforânothing!â
Eugene took the medicine from Landon and asked, âWhereâs Grandpaâs medical report?â
Viola was completely ignored, and she did not dare say a word. She was afraid of being insulted by Henry again, but at the same time, she was not happy about being ignored.
She gently tugged on Eugeneâs clothes and said in a small voice, âIâm going in for a CT scan, Eugene. You should accompany Mr. Henry,â
Eugeneâs expression was cold. He nodded and said nothing.
Violaâs eyes were filled with grievance, but she hid it when she met Henryâs sharp look.
She sniffled. âIâll take a taxi home by myself. You should see Mr. Henry home.â
Eugene replied, âAlright.â
Viola choked back a sob. âYou donât need to worry about me. Iâm fine now.â
2/2
Eugene did not say anything to her.
Even though Viola did not really want to leave, she could only go after Eugene gave her a nonchalant reply.
It was only after Viola had left that Henry berated Eugene, âHow blind are you to think that woman is actually someone worth being with when sheâs an embarrassment?â
Eugene replied in a low voice, âWhen she passed out in the office, our partners in Oskon City and the nonâprofit organization were at LeapCo.â
Henryâs expression turned grim. âWhat do you mean?â
Eugene was a little frustrated. âBernard Qaisa will be returning to Oskon City in two days. Itâll be difficult to meet him again after that.â
Viola had chosen a bad time to pass out at the office. Eugene was supposed to meet Bernard for a business meeting as LeapCo was planning to expand in Oskon City. The best way to do that was to work with the Qaisas.
Eugene could have gotten someone else to take Viola to the hospital.
However, the nonâprofit organization was there, and the Qaisas had done a lot of charity work. Eugene had initiated a connection with Bernard via charity work as well.
When Viola was helped up to the office, she had deliberately named Eugene to accompany her to the hospital.
LeapCo had spent years building up an image that was only recently recognized by the public. If an employee was sick and Eugene had chosen to ignore her, it would have left a bad impression on the organization.
Henry immediately understood what had transpired. He said coldly, âCanât you do anything right?â
