“So, you only found that out today?” Keith snorted, clearly not believing in James’ words. That was not

what James said when urging him to get married sooner.

“Anyway, I won’t interfere with your business anymore. It depends on whether you have what it takes to

marry Alice now.” Without waiting for a reply, James turned around and left.

Keith was utterly stunned as he realized his grandfather would stop caring about this.

His grandfather had always been defiant, but now he suddenly stopped caring about this matter, and

there was only one possible reason—he had fallen for Alice’s tricks and was no longer in the position to

have a say about this matter.

Who was James Rowland? Back then, he was an all-powerful, top figure in the city. Also, James was

different from others. He always did unconventional things and wasn’t afraid of challenges, which was

“Old Mr. Rowland, dinner is ready. How about staying for dinner?” Amelia was secretly happy to see

longer.” When James said that, he didn’t say it in a displeased stone. Instead, he was looking at Alice

with a grin.

Once he was done, the expressions on everyone’s faces changed.

Did James mean that Alice had already asked him to leave? However, not only didn’t James look

Charles had a surprised expression, Amelie was gnashing her teeth in hatred, and Emma was very

jealous.

get the always arrogant and overbearing James Rowland to be so ‘obedient?’

“Alice, didn’t you say you have something to get to? Why don’t I get Keith to send you there?” James

really liked Alice, so he desperately wanted to set her up with Keith.

“No, thank you. That would be too much trouble for Mr. Rowland.” Alice smiled politely. She was

heading back to the Knight Residence, so she couldn’t let Keith send her home.

As James was an intelligent man, he didn’t say much and even called Keith to leave with him.

“Alice, why don’t you stay for dinner?” When Charles looked at Alice, there was a trace of anticipation

in his eyes.

“I’ll pass. I have something to do, so I’ll be leaving now.” Alice didn’t want to stay with the Wolands, and

she didn’t want to have a meal with them either, lest she might get indigestion.

After leaving the Woland Residence and getting in the car, Keith stared at the unreliable old man

beside him. “Grandpa, did you make a bet with Alice and lost? Is that why you let go of the marriage

proposal?”

Since Keith knew his grandfather very well, he was able to guess everything.

“You brat, why are you questioning me? Alice didn’t drive her car here, and she definitely wouldn’t let

anyone from the Woland Family drive her. Why didn’t you take the chance?” James was indeed as

cunning as a fox. He could see through many things.

Keith was stunned but cooperatively and justifiably asked James to leave the car.

When he drove back to the Woland Residence, he saw Alice standing by the road, waiting for a car.

Stopping the car beside her, Keith rolled down the window and looked at her with a smile while gently

offering, “Get in. I’ll send you to where you’re going.”

“No, thank you.” Alice frowned when she saw Keith had returned. After what had happened today, she

didn’t want anything to do with Keith as she was still married to Ethan.

She had promised Ethan that she wouldn’t do anything that would ruin the Knight Family or Ethan while

they were still married.

On the other hand, Keith wasn’t displeased. Instead, he smiled even brighter before exiting the car and

standing beside her. “Then I’ll wait with you. It’s late, and I don’t feel safe with you being here alone.”

Alice ignored him. Since he had rejected Keith, it would be better not to dwell on such matters.

She desperately wanted to hail a cab so that she could leave and that Keith would have no reason to

stay.

In the meantime, Ethan raced all the way here and finally arrived. Just as Caleb was about to turn the

corner to get to the Woland Residence, he suddenly saw the two people standing by the roadside.

Caleb gulped as his fears had become a reality, and he carefully informed, “Mr. Knight, it’s Mrs.

Knight… and Mr. Rowland.

Ethan’s gaze fell on the two people standing side by side, and his eyes narrowed coldly.

Caleb couldn’t help but shiver. It was a fairly hot day, and the car’s air conditioning wasn’t on, but it was

freezing inside.

Without waiting for Ethan to give his order, Caleb stopped the car before Alice and Keith.

Rolling down the window, Ethan stared at Alice without saying anything and completely ignored Keith,

who was standing beside Alice.

When Alice saw Ethan, she instantly froze. Isn’t he on a business trip? He just left this morning. Why is

he here? Judging from his look, is he here for me?

At first, she planned on visiting Apollo, but now that Ethan was here, she couldn’t go with her plans.
