Since he didn’t mention anything just now, she thought he wasn’t bothered by it and wasn’t as

overbearing as she thought it was. Now, it seemed like she had imagined him to be too “perfect.”

“Do you like them?” Ethan’s narrowed eyes weren’t cold but also dangerous.

But his voice remained deep and slow. There wasn’t any obvious anger in his voice or any emotion at

all.

It was precisely this kind of temperament that could send chills down others’ spines.

Not when it came to Alice, though. If it had been someone else, that person would have been scared to

death.

“I…” Alice wanted to tell him that she didn’t accept Keith’s flowers and that she even lied to him that

she was allergic to flowers in order not to accept them.

“So that’s why you’re unwilling to part with him now. Did my appearance interrupt the night?” But Ethan

didn’t give her a chance to explain and continued to speak slowly and lowly.

Alice frowned. What was he talking about? Who was unwilling to part with whom? Keith and her? From

what point did he see she was unwilling to part with Keith?

She rejected Keith and even tricked James into canceling the proposal. Since she didn’t want to marry

him, she certainly would keep a distance from him, so how could she be unwilling to leave him? Also,

what did Ethan mean by interrupting them? He said it like she and Keith were doing something

inappropriate. She couldn’t figure out what was going on in Ethan’s mind.

No, Alice thought Ethan had lost his mind when he came over.

Remembering that they were legally married, Alice still wanted to explain things. “Keith came to

propose, and I had no idea about it. I—”

“But you went there.” Ethan interrupted her again, clearly being unreasonable.

“I went there because Old Mr. Rowland was at the Woland Residence. He said he wouldn’t leave until I

went back…” Alice had conveyed her answer. She didn’t go there for Keith but because James

threatened to not leave the Woland Residence.

“What did that have to do with you? That’s the Rowland Family’s matter. Why did it concern you?”

Ethan was unmatched when he began acting up.

Meanwhile, Alice was looking at him but then suddenly burst out laughing. Judging from the looks of it,

she was laughing from anger. Her eyes glistened as she rebuked, “Of course, it concerned me. It’s got

everything to with me. Keith went there to propose marriage, and the one he wanted to marry was me.

Of course, I had to go.”

Ethan’s constant interruptions made her feel like he was acting like a three-year-old, unreasonable and

stirring up trouble.

He wouldn’t listen to anything she said and would even twist her words to fit his assumptions.

Fine, I’ll go along with his words then.

As she had expected, Ethan didn’t interrupt her this time. Instead, he was staring straight at her with

eyes that seemed calm, but Alice felt like he wanted to swallow her up.

Alice secretly thought if gazes could kill, she might already be a pile of dust under Ethan’s gaze.

Luckily for her, she had quite a bold personality because anyone else would have been scared

sh*tless.

Before she was rendered into a pile of ashes, she still insisted on explaining herself. “I returned to the

Woland Residence to solve this problem. We’ve already received our marriage certificates, which

means we’re married. How could I possibly agree to the Rowland Family’s marriage proposal?”

“Are you saying that you would agree to marry Keith if you didn’t get married to me first?” The childish

Ethan was clearly being unreasonable and was good at finding loopholes in her words.

Alice was dumbfounded by his question but then laughed out of anger as he was being unreasonable.

Fine, she thought. If he wants to be unreasonable, I won’t explain or reason with him anymore. I have

just the trick to deal with him.

“Mr. Rowland is such an excellent and handsome man. Not only does he come from a prominent

family, but he’s also capable, amusing, and romantic…” With a smile on her face, Alice purposefully

didn’t hide her admiration for Keith and even used her fingers to count every good trait she named with

a serious attitude.

In the meantime, Ethan felt like something was caught in his chest that couldn’t be removed, causing

him to feel uncomfortable…

He had just asked a casual question, and he believed the explanation she had given him just now, but

when he thought about the picture he just saw, he felt his chest become stuffy, which was why he

asked that question.

Originally, he thought she would explain the situation to him like before. As long as she explained, he

would believe her. Then, he would feel relieved, and the stuffiness in his chest would subside.

While watching Alice compliment Keith with so much admiration and how she was using her slim,

snowy-white fingers to count Keith’s positive traits, Ethan felt like… cutting Keith into pieces!

“There’s only one sentence that perfectly fits my emotions. I only lament we had never met before I

wed?” By now, Alice had ignored Ethan’s expression and was getting more excited as she spoke.

How do you like that? I refuse to believe I can’t tame your unreasonable behavior, she thought.

“Never met before you wed?” Ethan stared at her unblinkingly with his lips slightly curved. Every word

he spoke sounded like they were squeezed through his gritted teeth, and every word sounded like they

were filled with murderous intent.

However, Alice wasn’t afraid, and not only wasn’t she afraid, but she also found it funny. When her

sparkling eyes met his eyes, she nodded sternly. “Yes. How about you realize my wishes?”

There was a split moment when Alice thought she heard a particular someone gnashing his teeth.

She felt that Ethan was feeling like ripping her apart, just like how she felt before.

Also, she wondered if he would beat her up if she provoked him until he exploded in anger.

Usually, when she was very pissed, she would feel like beating him up, but she knew her situation very

well. She couldn’t stand a chance against him, so she had to endure her urge.

On the other hand, Ethan didn’t have such a worry. Therefore, Alice was really curious about what he

would do if he was angered to the point that he couldn’t hold back anymore.

Suddenly, Ethan reached over and covered her eyes.

Alice was taken aback. What is he doing? Why is he covering my eyes? Does he want to beat me up

but think I was afraid of blood?

Just as she was thinking about it, she heard Ethan’s voice suddenly appearing beside her ear. “Go to

sleep.”

Blinking her covered eyes, Alice wondered, What’s this? Go to sleep? How is he expecting me to fall

asleep in this situation? Or is Mr. Knight implying something else? Could he be so angry that he wants

to kill me? T-That’s not possible, right? He wouldn’t be that ruthless, right?

While Alice was thinking about all sorts of things, she heard Ethan’s voice again. “Why don’t you see if

that would happen in your dreams?”

Stunned, Alice fell into a daze and wondered what Ethan meant by that.
