What if my hypothesis is true?

Alice secretly took a deep breath and felt she was in trouble.

No, I must leave as soon as possible without leaving any traces.

When Ethan heard Irvin’s words, he frowned but didn’t answer. However, he still continued to gaze at

Alice.

Although the person before him was a man, Ethan would not let go of any possibility. Anyone that came

to the first floor in this period would fall under his suspicion.

Ethan had never seen Alice’s previous appearance. All he saw was her back in a video. Before he

could take another glance, the video was deleted by Irvin.

From the video, apart from the flare and dominance that he could identify, Ethan only saw the color of

her hair and clothes at that time.

However, Alice had now changed her hairstyle, from wavy curls to short male hair.

Moreover, she had changed her clothes. Not only had the color changed, but the design and fabric

were also different.

Initially, it was a slim-fitting women’s trench coat with a belt in the middle.

Then, it was a casual men’s trench coat with a simple style.

When she came, the trench coat was open. Her coat was buttoned up, and the garment was loosened

to its fullest extent.

A cleverly designed fold on the edge of the trench coat perfectly hid the previously exposed color.

Moreover, the shoes on her feet were also changed. The shoes she wore first were flat-heeled, but the

shoes at the moment had a high insole.

So, there was a height difference too.

The person that Irvin saw upstairs was utterly different from the current Alice.

Otherwise, Irvin would have suspicions about her.

Of course, she had disguised as a man.

However, no matter how well prepared and calm Alice was, she was still panicked when being stared at

by the man before her.

Fortunately, she was mentally strong enough to hold on and didn’t waver.

Alice knew that although she was dressed as a man, Ethan still suspected her.

It was because, although she changed the elevators, the timing coincided.

Hence, it was only natural for Ethan to be suspicious.

Although a normal person would not suspect a man when looking for a woman, Ethan was not an

ordinary man.

However, Alice was sure that since she took the same elevator with Irvin, Ethan’s suspicions toward

her would be significantly reduced.

This was another reason why she had set up the trap for Irvin.

She knew Irvin would be curious enough to want to watch the show on the first floor.

The moment the elevator doors closed, the smile she gave to Irvin was the base of her plan.

The elevator stopped on every floor because she needed time to disguise herself and pique Irvin’s

curiosity.

Of course, she set this up for Irvin not only for these two reasons. More importantly, she needed Irvin to

help her, which was to remove the suspicion.

For example, Ethan’s suspicion of Alice diminished slightly after Irvin spoke.

Of course, she left the elevator before Irvin, and she did not showcase any nervousness, avoidance,

guilt, nor hesitation.

She just walked out straight toward Ethan.

Although the change in emotion was not visible on her face, she knew she had reduced more suspicion

by doing so.

After all these arrangements, Alice now held the cards.

Hence, even though Ethan stared at her, Alice told herself she didn’t have to worry too much. If Ethan

didn’t forcibly stop or search her, there would be no problem.

I don’t think Mr. Knight would be that sick!

Irvin’s lips twitched when he saw Ethan staring at the young man that shared an elevator with him. “Mr.

Knight, why are you looking at him? He is a man; surely it can’t be him.”

Seeing that Ethan was still staring at the young man, Irvin looked at Alice from top to bottom. Then, he

smiled. “Mr. Knight, it’s definitely not her. He doesn’t share any features with her. The hairstyle, clothes,

pants, shoes, height, and even the face are different. More importantly, the gender is wrong.”

Alice secretly chuckled.

I was right to trick Irvin into coming down with me. Look, he is helping me. He is Mr. Knight’s friend, and

he met me earlier, so Mr. Knight will definitely believe him.

That was why Alice felt that it was safe for her to leave now. She continued to walk out smoothly.

However, she had only taken three steps away from Ethan when his cold voice rang from behind her.

“Stop right there.”

Alice’s heart was trembling in shock.

No way… Did he see through me? How is it possible, though? Why? What went wrong that let him see

through me? I have planned everything out seamlessly; how could I still be discovered by Mr. Knight?

I’m disguised as a man now, and am very confident in my disguise. I don’t think he will spot any flaws in

me. Or is he bluffing?

In a split second, Alice had many thoughts run through her mind.

However, she couldn’t figure out why Ethan suddenly called out to her.

Mr. Knight wants me to stop. If I don’t obey, I will arouse his suspicion even more.

First, Alice visually measured the distance between her and the entrance. The space was far, so she

couldn’t outrun Ethan with her speed and would eventually be captured.

Knowing Ethan, he would call for reinforcement outside in advance. Once she ran, she would be

captured.

What was currently happening was that Ethan was guarding the elevator entrance, and someone was

guarding the stairway. Outside the building also had someone guarding.

Mr. Knight is ruthless. He blocked all my paths.

Hence, Alice could only stop and turn around to face Ethan. She smiled. “Sir, are you talking to me?”

“This is my business card.” Before Ethan could speak, Alice took the initiative and handed over the

business card she had prepared.

As she took the initiative to hand over a business card and told him the name, it dispelled the doubts to

a certain extent.

She also deliberately acted politely. However, she just couldn’t conceal it thoroughly enough.
