Chapter 53

Ethan, who was caught off guard by this, laughed lightly. Alice sure is something!

Although he did think about the possibility of her retaliation, he did not expect that it would be so

fascinating. I’ve underestimated her.

Obviously, she did not require any help and could have settled the matter all on her own. Besides that,

she struck back in a beautiful manner like the day of the wedding.

Seeing Ethan’s smile, Caleb instantly asked, “Mr. Knight, did Miss Woland instruct Elijah to do this?”

“Or, she already planned this, but then Elijah planned something of his own only to fall into her trap, like

Mrs. Yeager did at the wedding.”

Ethan recalled the devious look she had at the wedding. This little fox sure knows how to surprise me!

“Is Miss Woland such a capable person?” Caleb was still in disbelief that the naive and innocent Alice

from the rumors did all this.

Ethan’s normally lifeless eyes had a glimmer. Little Fox sure is crafty. Otherwise, how would she have

escaped from my hands and handcuffed me to the bed?

“Mr. Knight, how did Miss Woland do it?” Caleb recalled the scene where Elijah contradicted himself at

the press conference, which could only make him face the facts.

Yet, he was still curious about what Alice did.

His words made Ethan look coldly at him.

This caused chills to run behind Caleb’s back. Mr. Knight should just say he doesn’t know outright. Why

did he have to glare at me so menacingly?

Ethan’s stature was becoming stronger and more imposing as a glare was enough to send fear to

one’s heart.

It was then a knock came from the door before Chris opened it. “Boss, I’ve looked into what Alice

Woland had been up to in Cliaria these seven years, as per your orders.”

Caleb’s eyes lit up and he forgot all about Ethan’s threat earlier. Mr. Dorsett sure is an efficient man by

getting to the bottom of this so quickly. I wonder if there’s any surprising information.

“Boss, why did you want a background check on Alice Woland? She’s dumb and—”

Even though he tried his best, Chris could not figure out why Ethan wanted him to investigate Alice.

“Just spit it out. What did you manage to find out?” Ethan cut him off.

Knowing his behavior well, Chris went back to the topic. “I did dig up an incredible secret. This would

shock everyone.”

“What is this incredible secret?” Caleb was excited now. There’s actually a secret? What a surprise!

Chris, who wanted to keep things suspenseful, immediately spilled it out after meeting Ethan’s gaze.

“Alice Woland actually had a child. Although it was not shown that she was married, she did have a

child.”

The always calm and emotionless Ethan had a sudden change of expression as he remembered the

incident seven years ago…

If the woman from seven years ago on that night was Alice, then the child…

Ethan grabbed the handle of his seat tightly while feeling his heartbeat elevate. Is the child mine?

Is it?

Yet, Chris did not notice Ethan’s expression and carried on. “I didn’t manage to find out who the father

was, but I know for sure that it isn’t Bruce. If it was him, then the Yeagers would’ve found out about it

and the wedding wouldn’t have been such a mess. Who do you think the child’s father is? Even though

they said that Alice is heads over heels for Bruce, stating that her love is stronger than anything else

and could do anything for him, why did she give birth to a child behind his back? Why did she have a

bas—”

Just as Chris was getting to his point, he felt chills again. Turning around, he met Ethan’s gaze and

shuddered while his voice became softer until he stopped speaking.

My God! Boss’ gaze was too terrifying! What bloodlust! I thought he was going to reach out and kill me!

“B-Boss, what’s wrong?” Bruce gulped, not knowing what he had done wrong.

Boss ordered me to look into this, so I just reported what I found out. What did I do wrong?!

On the other hand, Caleb was frozen the moment he heard about Alice having a child.

Alice has a child? Whose could it be?

If that night seven years ago, the person that my master slept with was really Alice, who then caused

her to get pregnant, then wouldn’t the kid be his?

My God, what thundering news! Caleb could feel his thoughts jumbling up.

Mr. Knight has a child?! He actually has a child?!

He then snapped back to reality upon hearing Chris’ teeth chatter. Then, he met with Ethan’s gaze,

which also frightened him and caused him to recall what Chris had said, thus deciphering the reason

why Ethan was so angry.

It was because Chris badmouthed Miss Woland, so Mr. Knight is mad.

Reaching out and wanting to take the dossier on Alice, Ethan found his hand slightly trembling

uncontrollably, so he put it on the table and tried to pace himself before asking, “How old is the child?”

When he asked this, he had a low and somewhat hoarse voice. He tried his best to control the

trembling in his hands while taking the dossier.

“The child is four and a half years old now.” Although Chris found Ethan’s reaction a bit off, he dared

not comment on it and replied swiftly.

With the information in his hands, he clutched it tightly and looked straight at Chris. “How old?”

That moment made Ethan doubt his own hearing.

“Four and a half years old. Is something wrong?” Chris was a bit confused, as he did not know why

Ethan was so fixated on Alice’s child as well as his age. “To be precise, it is four years and seven

months.”

Caleb was very excited upon hearing this. To think that the child would be almost five years old already!

Yet, he had a sudden revelation and took a deep breath. Wait, what?

The child is four and a half years old?

How can the child be four and a half years old?

Mr. Knight’s incident happened seven years ago, so how could the child only be a bit more than four

years old? Unless there is something supernatural going on here.

That means that the child isn’t Mr. Knight’s!

Caleb was getting more and more perplexed as to what was really going on.

Still clutching onto the dossier, Ethan did not open it. Four years and seven months? How come it’s

only four years and seven months?

He remembered clearly that the incident was seven years ago. So, the child’s age should already be

more than six and approaching seven years old!

The age doesn’t match up.

Why?!

“What’s wrong, Boss? Is there a problem?”

Knowing Ethan very well, Chris could tell there was something off with him.

Ethan did not reply as he clutched the dossier tighter while looking at it. Yet, he did not make another

move and did not open it either.
