Chapter 80
Ethan’s Vengeance of Love
I like her. The old manâs been asking me to get married. He thought it was annoying, but now he
thought the proposition was just fine.
Emma had been watching, and she was shocked. Is this the same Alice I know? The same stupid
woman?
Xandra was smart. Instead of going for offense, she heaved a sigh and carefully chose her words.
âCalm down, Miss. My managerâs just too worried. I was here a while ago, and someone saw you
approaching me, so we suspectâ¦â Her goal was clear: to go through Aliceâs bag.
âCall the cops then. Iâll work with them if they want to investigate,â Alice interrupted, refusing to listen to
her. She looked at the people in front of her and sneered. âNo one can touch my stuff otherwise.â
Rachel quickly stood up. Her legs were buckling, but she refused to back down. âHah, who do you think
you are? You canât stop us.â
Alice ignored her and made a call.
âNo one can help you now.â Rachel sneered, thinking Alice wanted to call for help.
The call went through, and Alice turned the speaker on.
âHello, Rodcaster Arcturus Area Police Department, how may I help you?â
Everyone froze. They couldnât believe Alice was actually calling the cops.
âHi? Y-Yes, I need help, please. Royale⦠Room 505. P-Please, you have to come here. Pleaseâ¦â
Alice spoke in a terrified tone and stuttered a few times before she hung up.
The crowd was flabbergasted by the sudden change in Aliceâs demeanor. Is she even the same
person? When they realized Alice had returned to her earlier self, they thought what they saw earlier
was a hallucination.
Keithâs lips twitched, but his eyes twinkled. Interesting. Sheâs good, very good. Thatâs the woman I like.
Thatâs the woman I want.
âYouâre calling the cops? But this is Keithâs party! Are you trying to ruin it?â Xandra was shocked that
Alice called the cops. After all, this conspiracy was something she was involved in, and she was scared
about getting found out. However, she remembered the âevidenceâ was in Aliceâs bag, and she got
smug. Sheâs done for once the cops get here, and sheâs going to get on Keithâs bad side. Even if
something were to happen, Keith can settle it. No one can insult him and get away with it.
âIâm just a law-abiding citizen. Weâre taught to call the cops whenever we need help. Was what I did
wrong?â Alice put on a bright and innocent smile. The crowd thought the smile was blinding.
Keith cocked his eyebrow. I have a feeling that she was a rowdy one in her school days.
The cops arrived at Royale a short while later.
Derek, who came with Ethan to the party, was just making his way to the bathroom when he saw some
cops roaming around. He frowned. âWhatâs going on?â
Oh, the chief. One of the cops politely answered, âSomeone called us.â
âWho did?â Derek was surprised someone called the cops. He didnât hear any ruckus. Who called the
cops? And why?
âNo idea. It was a woman, but she didnât leave her name. She sounded scared, though. Panicked,
even.â The cop was the leader of this operation. He was told of the details on his way here.
âAre you sure itâs here?â Derek was doubtful. He wondered if the cops had the wrong place. This place
has been quiet.
âYes. Room 505,â said the cop confidently.
âWhat?â Derek was shocked. âBut thatâs Keithâs room. Keith called the cops? This might be serious.â
Did someone die? No, Keith wouldnât call us even if someone died. Thatâs just not his style. So, what
happened?
âIâm coming with you.â He looked grim as he thought the case must be more serious than he had
imagined.
Derek followed the cops into the room, but there was no chaos to be found. Everything was neat and
quiet, and Derekâs eyes shone with a sharp glint. Whatâs this? Everythingâs fine, so why call the cops?
Do they think we have nothing better to do?
His face fell as he then realized everyone was silent, but their gaze was fixed on a particular corner.
There were people huddled there, but he had no idea what was happening.
âUm, who called the cops?â The young cop was a little flummoxed. Nothing bad here, so why did they
call us? Is this a prank call?
Rachel quickly stood up and pointed at Alice. âShe did! She called the cops!â Rachel shouted loudly, as
if she was worried the cops couldnât hear her.
The cops quickly went ahead, and Derek followed as well.
But when he saw Alice, he froze. âM-Miss Woland.â Why is she here? What is she doing? And why did
she call the cops? Ethan is in the room next door. If he finds out she got into troubleâ¦
Derek addressed her formally, and that made a world of difference. In his heart of hearts, Derek didnât
acknowledge Alice as Ethanâs wife. To him, she was not worthy of Ethan at all.
âAh, Mr. Jenkins.â Alice didnât care how he addressed her. Derek was just a stranger, nothing more,
nothing less. She too addressed him formally, and not in a casually formal way either.
âYou called the cops?â Derekâs eyes glinted. âWhat happened?â
âShe stole Xandraâs necklace. Itâs in her bag.â Rachel became wary after she heard how Derek
addressed Alice. However, she quickly remembered that Alice was nothing but a fool and that there
was nothing to be afraid of.
Derekâs face fell. He might not acknowledge Alice as Ethanâs wife, but the fact remained that she was
married to Ethan, and he would not let anyone insult her. It would be an insult to both him and Ethan,
not to mention Alice was the Woland Familyâs young miss and the president of Woland Group a while
ago. According to Chris, that company had made a lot of money over the last seven years. As the
biggest shareholder, Alice could make a lot of money every year. There was absolutely no need for her
to steal a measly necklace.
