Chapter 82

Ethan’s Vengeance of Love

Ethan narrowed his eyes. She’s pretending not to know me? Very well. I’ll talk to her when we get

home, but for now, business comes first. He looked at Derek. “What happened?” he said coolly.

Just like that, everyone thought Ethan was here to see Derek, and that explained why he showed up.

“These ladies said Miss Woland stole their necklace. Miss Woland called the cops, but then they found

the necklace in her bag.” Derek shook his head. I can’t believe someone can be so stupid. She called

the cops only to get herself in more trouble. I shouldn’t have listened to her. I should have stopped

them from searching her bag.

Keith narrowed his eyes and gave Alice a look. Most people thought Ethan was here for Derek, but he

didn’t. He was reminded of that night seven years ago. To be precise, he was reminded of the girl he

met in the hotel. In her escape, she crashed into him, and he was captivated by her beauty. She was

as gorgeous as an angel.

Someone was chasing her back then. When he settled the pursuers, the girl was already gone. For the

whole night, he searched the hotel for her, but he couldn’t find her. Then, he found out that Ethan was

looking for a woman as well after that night. He couldn’t believe Ethan would be looking for a woman.

Keith realized that Ethan had glanced at Alice a few times after he came in. That’s not how that guy

works. Keith narrowed his eyes.

Ethan looked at Alice again. She was sitting there silently, not even looking at him. Aside from the

glance she gave him after he came in, she didn’t spend more time on him after that. Now she

pretended they were strangers, and she didn’t even ask him for help. Ethan felt a bit annoyed because

of that.

“Do we have any surveillance cameras here?” the cop asked. That was the only way to find out the

truth.

“This is Keith’s exclusive room. There are no cameras.” That was what annoyed Derek. Other rooms

had surveillance cameras, but not this room. This room was exclusive to Keith, and he forbade anyone

from installing any surveillance cameras. They believed that Alice would never steal. As the Woland

Group’s ex-president, she didn’t need it, not to mention she was also Ethan’s wife. Just for Caroline’s

sake alone, the Knights would do anything for her as long as she said the word.

However, it didn’t matter what they believed. It was a fact that the necklace was in her bag and there

was no way to turn things around. If news of this got out, it would be bad. Someone obviously set Alice

up, so they would make sure this scandal was known all over the city soon, and the version of that

scandal would be ugly. Derek was panicking. After all, Alice was still married to Ethan at the moment. If

this got out, it would be bad for Ethan.

Alice wasn’t even panicking at all. She was unbelievably calm.

“She’s not just stupid. She’s a moron. I can’t believe she’s not panicking right now.”

“What now, chief?” The cop snapped out of it and looked at Derek. His voice was trembling. He was the

one who searched the bag, and he had no idea how to deal with this mess.

Derek’s face fell. What now? Now we have to keep this thing a secret. Or at the very least, keep the

damage to a minimum. I can’t let Ethan’s reputation get tarnished. God damn it, her stupidity is going to

kill us all.

Ethan cocked his eyebrow. He was annoyed that Alice was pretending that they were strangers, but he

knew she wouldn’t let herself gall just like that. She was not that kind of person.

As expected, Alice piped up, “I have something that might be of help.”

“What good can your stuff do?” Derek snapped. He didn’t think anything could help. Only if there was a

witness could they turn the tables, but no one would do it for a fool like Alice. Moreover, this was

sabotage, so the perpetrator would have made sure all traces were covered.

Alice ignored his attitude. She knew Derek looked down on her, but she couldn’t care less about the

opinion of an irrelevant man. Heck, she didn’t even care how Ethan treated her. She plucked off

something resembling a button on her bag and handed it to the cop.

“What is this?” The cop was confused, but he took the button nonetheless, and he seemed polite when

he did so. Derek did snap at this lady, but the fact remained that she still managed to rile his emotions

up, and she was the first woman to do so. They must share some bond.

“You guys know how much of a fool I am.” Alice smirked at Emma. “I was afraid something like this

might happen, so I installed a mini-camera on my bag to protect myself. I think it can explain how the

necklace showed up in my bag.”

Derek’s eyes went wide as his jaw dropped. He was at a loss for words. Then you should have said so

earlier.

Ethan smiled. I knew it.

“Well, what are you waiting for? Let’s check the footage.” Derek snapped out of it and got into work

mode. A phone was enough to check the footage for cameras like this. All Alice had to do was play the

footage on her phone.

“Can you please get a laptop? I don’t want anyone to accuse me of tampering with the evidence,” said

Alice calmly.

“Get us a laptop,” said Derek without thinking. He thought Alice had a point. It’s reasonable to keep

suspicion at a minimum.

Rachel’s face fell and all her smugness from before disappeared. Instead, she was shivering in fear.

Xandra was equally afraid as well. She shrank back instinctively and wanted to leave very badly, but

she couldn’t do that when everyone was looking at her. Emma was starting to get worried as well. She

didn’t expect Alice to have installed a camera on her bag. A moment later, a guard came back with a

laptop.
