Chapter 83
Ethan’s Vengeance of Love
The guard came back with a laptop soon enough.
âGive me that.â Derek took the laptop and retrieved the âcameraâ from the cop.
Rachel and Xandraâs hearts were thumping fiercely, and Emma was starting to worry as well. What if
they find out? What if they know I did it? No. They couldnât. I wasnât the one who slipped the necklace
in. The camera couldnât have captured me. I just have to deny everything.
Derek checked the camera out, and he frowned. He had no idea how to use this. What model is this?
He had seen a lot of gizmos and gadgets in his line of work, but he had no idea what this model of
camera was and how to use it.
Derek was about to ask Ethan for instructions, but then Alice shot the camera a glance and said, âMr.
Jenkins. Letâs say this is someone trying to sabotage me. What if I sue them for slander? What kind of
punishment would they receive?â asked Alice calmly, her face inscrutable.
âIt really depends. If the victim insists on taking it to court, the perpetrator might be sentenced to jail.â
Derek was surprised she would ask that question, but he didnât give her an attitude this time.
âGood to hear. Iâll take this to court, so make sure you are thorough with your investigations. And make
sure everyone knows Iâm sabotaged. I despise those who sabotage me and try to get away with it,â
said Alice calmly while looking at Rachel and Xandra. There was a hidden message in her words.
That âcameraâ Derek was holding was just an accessory in Aliceâs bag, but no one aside from Alice
knew. There was no footage whatsoever and it was impossible to find out who slipped that necklace
into her bag. What she said just now was just a bluff. And now I wait for the fish to take the bait.
Xandra was smart enough to understand the underlying message. She looked at the camera and
gulped, then she made a decision. âIâm sorry, Miss Woland. My manager slipped that into your bag.
She⦠she didnât know what she was doing.â
Xandra pushed all the blame onto Rachel so she would seem innocent. Of course, Rachel was the one
who slipped the necklace in, but she was standing next to Rachel at the time. The camera might have
captured her, so she confessed before this case could escalate.
Rachel froze. She tried to say something, but in the end, she stayed silent. It didnât matter even if
Xandra said nothing. The footage could still prove that they were the culprit. Alice called the cops, and
even Derek came. There was no way they could hide it much longer.
Alice looked at Xandra calmly, but she said nothing.
Xandra took Aliceâs silence as a sign she could negotiate, so thinking she could still escape in one
piece, she said, âMiss Woland, weâre all in the circle of high society. I really donât want to make more
enemies than I should. Please, can you have mercy on me?â
âSorry, but I donât really think weâre in the same circle.â Alice cocked her eyebrow. That was as
straightforward as it could get. This isnât the truth I want. They were obviously used by Emma and I
want them to say that out loud.
Some among the crowd burst into laughter. Indeed, Xandra was just a no-name model while Alice was
the young miss of the Woland Family and the ex-president of Woland Group. She was leagues above
Xandra. Nobody actually took Xandra seriously, but they wouldnât tell her that straight to her face, of
course.
Xandra didnât think Alice would be this forward, and her face fell. She was starting to wonder if she
should sell Emma out. Will Alice let me off the hook if I do?
Rachel was going to use Keith to threaten Alice again. No one would disrespect Keith openly. Not in
this city. âXandra is Keithâs woman. Youââ
Keith finally broke his silence and interrupted Rachel. âSheâs my woman? Why, I donât remember taking
her in.â He spoke calmly, but there was solemnity in his voice.
Rachel froze and looked at Xandra in shock and confusion. Xandra shivered and hung her head low,
not even looking Rachel in the eye. She was the only one who knew that she was not Keithâs woman.
She wasnât even his acquaintance.
He only passed by when she was shooting an advertisement, so she took the chance to talk to him.
After that, she received a bouquet, and everyone, including her, thought it was from Keith. Shortly after,
Xandra found out it was from a fan of hers, yet she didnât clarify the situation seeing that everyone was
worshipping her.
She knew how powerful Keith was, and she wanted to hook up with him as well. And so, the rumors of
her being his woman spread. Keith said nothing about it, so she kept quiet and hung on to that
âgirlfriendâ title. That garnered her a lot of worship and envy. She didnât think Keith would crush that
rumor right now, though. It was humiliating.
âYou know what happens to people who ruin my show. Now tell them the truth.â Keith glanced at Alice.
He seemed to be helping her, but no one could be sure. He was in a dim corner, his visage shrouded in
the shadows.
Ethanâs face fell. She doesnât need another guyâs help.
âI didnât mean to do it. It was Emma. She told me to do it,â Xandra spilled the beans. If she didnât, Keith
might destroy her. She knew that all too well. âShe said she could get me a modeling job in Glenn
Group if I helped her. I⦠I was blinded by my greed, so I agreed. Itâs true, Miss Woland.â Worried that
Alice might not believe her, Xandra kept explaining. âI didnât know you. Iâve never met you until tonight. I
had no reason to sabotage you. Emma told me to do it, I swear.â
