Chapter 132
The Beginning Of All Sins
After Olivia left, only Naomi and Tyler remained in the room. Hillary was also present, but she was as good as an invisible person.
Naomi initiated the conversation. âTyler, do you think Olivia left to meet Claude?â
âDo you think so?â
Naomi wasnât sure, but she sounded worried and said, âIf Olivia and Claude are seeing each other, then-â
Tyler lowered his voice. âTalk to her then. Sheâs your sister, so it should be easy to have a conversation with her.â
Olivia didnât expect Claude to still be there, so she approached him. âWhy are you still here?â
She noticed a lit cigarette between his fingers. He was smoking.
Claude saw her staring at his cigarette and extinguished it, chuckling. âSorry for indulging my bad habit.â
Olivia quickly replied, âI donât mind at all,â but she looked up and realized he didnât seem happy- rather, he appeared downcast. She asked, âAre you upset?â
Claude didnât deny it, just stood there with a sad expression. âYeah, a bit. Being here brought back some unpleasant memories.â He gazed into the distant darkness.
Olivia couldnât understand why someone so gentle and bright would have a somber side. She quietly looked up at him.
Claude felt her eyes on him and met her gaze with gentleness. âWhy are you staring at me?â
Olivia shook her head. âNothing. I just think youâre a wonderful person.â
Claude looked at Olivia under the white light, feeling a strange flutter in his heart. He didnât even realize when his gaze softened further, then he smiled and said, âIâm not wonderful, Olivia.â
Olivia held him in such high regard that she couldnât help but be drawn to him, so she shook her head.
âNo, youâre a wonderful person.â
His smile lingered as he asked, âWhy are you so cautious around your family? Didnât you say your relationship with your sister was okay?â
words.
Olivia tensed at his words. âNo, itâs not like that.â
But how could Claude not have known? From the moment she hesitated at the door, he realized she didnât have a good relationship with her family.
âYou need to tell me if youâre unhappy,â he whispered.
Olivia looked at him, puzzled by his sudden remark.
Claude stopped talking, looking at her with a gentle yet helpless expression.
Olivia replied, âDonât get me wrong, Claude. My family is nice to me.â
Claudeâs smile faded. âAs long as you believe theyâre nice. Remember, you can come to me if you need help.â
Olivia couldnât explain it, but his words warmed her heart. She nodded, saying, âOf course.â
