After Asher finished speaking, the entire conference room fell into a strange silence. Everyone looked at Zane, who was caught off guard by the sudden accusation.

“Firstly, I don’t know Nydia, so please mind your words. Secondly, are you of plagiarism? Investigate and you’ll see.” Zane retorted.

“Bring on the investigation! I’m not afraid!” In Asher’s eyes, Zane was just a design consultant, not an internal employee of the company. As for himself, he was highly favored by the director and had designed several clothing items that had brought the company a lot of profits. He felt that, in the design department, his status was not inferior to Zane’s.

“Does this matter have anything to do with you, Nydia?” Zane’s sharp gaze fell on her face.

“No.”

“Director, I think we need to find a specialist to investigate this matter. What do you think?” Zane asked the design director.

“Well, it needs a thorough investigation. We won’t tolerate a plagiarist, nor will we wrong an original designer. Alright, the meeting is over for today.”

After the meeting ended, Asher shouted at Maddie, “Maddie, do you want to quit?”

Maddie dared not speak up in anger and could only follow Asher, knowing that today was probably going to be tough.

Zane and the design director went to the office to inquire about Nydia’s situation.

“The chairman mentioned to me that he wanted to bring in someone to be an assistant and told me not to bother with her. He said to treat her like an ordinary assistant and had Taylor take her under his wing,” the design director explained.

Zane pondered for a moment, realizing that she was someone the chairman had inserted into the company.

“We don’t need to worry about this matter. After all, she’s the chairman’s person. As long as she doesn’t go too far, we’ll turn a blind eye,” the design director said, patting Zane’s shoulder with an ambiguous smile.

“Is it necessary to go to such lengths, especially in his company?” Zane knew exactly what he meant.

“As the saying goes, the most dangerous place is the safest place.”

“I see.” Zane walked out of the office and happened to run into Nydia, who had just finished copying some documents. Their eyes met.

“Hello, Mr. Porter,” Nydia greeted him first, then carried the documents and walked away.

“Wait a minute,” Zane called out to her.

Nydia turned around, puzzled. “Is there anything you need, Mr. Porter?”

“No, Asher is impulsive. Just be careful,” Zane said.

Nydia was stunned when Zane told her this. “Thank you, I’ll be careful,” she said.

Zane had originally intended to say something else, but when he met Nydia’s eyes, he unconsciously changed his words.

It didn’t matter to him, he was just a consultant.

“Nydia, Nydia, why did Zane stop you just now?” Maddie asked curiously.

“He asked me to be careful because Asher has a hot temper.”

“He seems to care about you. Do you think he likes you?”

“He’s probably just concerned about the company. If Asher seriously injures me or kills me, it will have a big impact on the company.”

Nydia thought this explanation was more reasonable.

“Well, that’s true. But do you think Asher will do something to you? You need to be careful.” Maddie was worried about Nydia, given Asher’s previous behavior towards her.

“You should have someone pick you up to and from work.”

“Okay, I will.”

Asher was crazy, and Nydia really didn’t know what he was capable of. She had to have some self-defense items with her just in case.

Asher had been very irritable all day today, so Nydia tried to stay away from him, keeping a utility knife close at hand in case she needed it. She even asked Maddie to go to the restroom with her.

When it was time to leave work, Maddie had to work overtime but offered to accompany Nydia to the parking lot.

“Wow, your car… it’s so nice!” Maddie exclaimed enviously. It was her first time seeing Nydia’s car.

“Too bad you have to work overtime today, or I could have given you a ride home.”

“Next time. There will be another chance. I’ll go up now.”
