Fall Weather Friends

Your POV:

It was a peaceful day as me, Rainbow, and Applejack were playing horseshoes..... which is kinda ironic when one thinks about it. Right now it was Rainbow's turn. She tosses the horseshoe and it hits the target. "Whoo-hoo!" She yelled.

"Lucky shot. But watch how I can do throw it." I said as I toss the shoe and it misses the target and hits a branch. "Oh." I said as Rainbow was laughing. "Watch how a pro can do this." AJ said as she tosses the shoe which misses the target. "Heh! Looks like this Pegasus can pitch better than the workhorse and the fightinghorse. You two do know that the object of the game is to get the closest to the stake." Rainbow jokingly said.

"All right, all right. You got another throw there, pony girl." AJ told her as Rd tosses a shoe which misses. "Wow! Stormtroopers have better aim then you." I sarcastically said. "Uhh... is that bad?" rainbow asked. "Yeah." I said as AJ laughed. "Yeah, yeah. I still have the closest throw, Applesmack, (y/..... ummm..... Just try and beat it." Rainbow said.

I then tossed my shoe with small power and it managed to hit the target. "Yes! In your face!" I yelled. "I didn't think you would be the competitive type." AJ said as she gets ready to toss her shoe. "You think pokemon was a non competitive game?" I said as she tosses her shoe. "Yee-haw! It's a ringer. That's how you do it down here on the farm."

"I lost." "Umm.... Did I get second? I honestly don't how this game well enough to be frustrated that I lose or happy that I won?" I asked. "You lost." AJ said. "Dang it! If we were playing Pokémon I would totally crush you!" I said in frustration. "Ah, don't feel bad, Rainbow, (y/n). It's all in good fun." AJ said. "I hate losing." "You wouldn't be this smug if we were doing a Pokémon battle." I muttered.

"You two are great athletes. But I'm just better. Heh heh heh." AJ said. "All right, Applejack, you think you're the top athlete in all of Ponyville?" Rainbow said. "Well, I was gonna say in all of Equestria, but that might be gildin' the lily." AJ said. "...and I think I'm the top athlete. So let's prove it." Rainbow said. "Prove what?" "I challenge you to an Iron Pony competition. A series of athletic contests to decide who's the best, once and for all." "I want in." I said as I was now between them. "If anything. I haven't been focusing my fainting type half as much as my water type and I think this would be a great way to train and beating the both of you will just be a nice bonus." I said.

"You know what, Rainbow? (Y/n)? You're on." AJ said as we bumped our hooves together.

Timeskip

"So you three are doing what, now?" Twilight asked us as me, Rainbow, and Applejack were training for the competition. "An Iron—" AJ began as Rainbow interrupts saying. "Iron Pony competition." "See, we've set up a bunch of events to decide which one of us is—" "The most athletic pony ever!" "And I'm here to...?" Twilights asks us. "Be our judge." I told her as the three of us were ready for the event.

Time skip

"Hello everypony, and welcome to the first annual Iron Pony competition!" I heard Spike yell out through a makeshift microphone. I then saw the rest of our friends were watching. "I wonder when they got here? Actually how did they know about this? .... Doesn't matter. I'm up first."

I thought as I got up to the starting line where I see the pathway that had barrels in the way. "Ready. Set. Go!" I heard Twilight yelled as I charged at the barrels and ram them out of the way to the finish line. "And that's how it is done!" I said with a smirk. "Uh.... (Y/n)?" "Yes?" I said as Twilight walked up to me. "Y-you do know that you were supposed to go around the barrels.... Right?" "I wasn't supposed to ram them?" "No." She told me. "Ohhh....."

Rainbow won the barrel run and now the next event was the strength test but instead of using a hammer it was using our hind hooves. I was the third one to go.... Right after we fixed the bell and target. I walked up to the target, turned around, raised my hind hooves and kicked as hard as I could.... I lost due to breaking the the thing and launching the ball thing off the thing and into a tree. ".....I really need to learn to control my new strength." I said as the winner of this event was Applejack.

The next event was a reverse on the bull ride where we are supposed to knock the rider off as fast as we can. We were using Spike as the rider which AJ was first and then rainbow and now it was me. "Please make end this event?" He begged. "Ok." I said as I heard Twilight yelled "begin" and I then launched Spike off of me and towards the sky. "And the winner is (y/n)!" Twilight said. "Yes!" I yelled in happiness as I caught Spike. "Ugh.... Thanks..." he said.

We've been doing many other events and around the halfway mark Rainbow started to use her wings which was pretty annoying. It was finally at the final event and it was a three way version of tug of war and we began to pull and I was fixing to win due to me keldeo strength. Which I shall be calling it that. But unfortunately Rainbow used her wings to pull me and AJ into the air. AJ let go to yell out that Rainbow cheated and I let go because I knew that at this point I wasn't going to win.

"Whoo-hoo! I win by a landslide... or mudslide in you two's case.." rainbow laughed. "I am the Iron Pony!" "Only 'cause you cheated!" AJ said as we walked up to rainbow. "What?" Rainbow said. "You used your wingpower to help you win over half those contests!" AJ said. "You never said I couldn't." Rainbow said. "We didn't think we had too and you don't see me using my water." I told her. "Yeah well, I still would've won even if I didn't use my wings." She said. "Then I'll see you next year.... Technically we will still see each other since we are friends but I think you get the idea!" I said.

"Or we could see do that tomorrow at the annual Runnin' of the leaves." AJ told us. "A marathon?" I said. "It's when we run through the trees to help the leaves fall." "What, The leaves actually can't fall for themselves." I said with a chuckle as AJ and rainbow stared at me with unamused looks. "Hehe...heh.... So let's do this." I said with a awkward laugh.

The next day

It was the day of the running with the leaves and I had gotten up bright and early and I was next to AJ doing some stretches before the race. "Pardon me, excuse me. Make way for the Iron Pony." We heard the familiar voice of the rainbow maned Pegasus. "The Iron Phony, you mean." AJ said as i snickered a bit. "So, Applejack, (y/n), you ready to win second and third place?" She sarcastically asked us. "I'm ready for a nice fair race." I told her.

"Yeah, yeah..." "You are not allowed to use your wings." AJ said. "I could win this race with both wings tied behind my back." Rainbow said as me and AJ both gave each other a knowing smile. We had tied up rainbows wings and we were getting ready for the race when Twilight walked up to us with a number. "Ummm.... What brings you here Twi?" I asked her. "I'm racing." She answered.

"Good one, Twilight." Rainbow laughed. "I'm not joking." "What? You're not an athlete, you're a... well... you're an egghead." "I am not an egghead, I am well-read." Twilight said. "Have you ever ran a race?" I asked her. "Well....No, have you?" She asked me with a smirk. "....Fair enough." I said "Besides, I got everything I need to know based on what my book has told me." She said. "Well.... Ummm, good luck." I told her as we got ready to race.

"All right, ponies, are you ready?" I heard Pinkie yelled from the hot air balloon and she was with Spike who added. "Get set." This was for..... bragging rights....? Ugh.... I didn't need this thought when I was crushing people online when I played Pokémon. Then the bell rang which startled me a bit and all the ponies ran off leaving me and Twilight in the dust. "Oh snap!" I yelled as I chased to the swarm of ponies but at that moment I realized that I was not fast enough or probably have the stamina to catch up.

"I guess jumping into a race without training was not the best idea. Welp I know when I lost.... Unfortunately..... but I suppose I'll just slow down." I said as I was about to slow down when I realized that due to being lost in my thoughts and that  I was not paying attention to my surroundings and now I was off the track.

I looked around to figure out where path was but I didn't see anything. "Where am I?" I said as I was looking around to find my way out. "....This could be a problem."

Rainbow POV:

"Hehe.... Looks like AJ is behind me so far and I don't see (y/n) anywhere.... I guess we're to fast for him/her." I thought as I was running when I saw a strange creature hopping to the pathway.

No POV:

"LOOK OUT!" Rainbow yelled as the spoink stopped hopping and looked to the source of the yell which the spoink yells "SPOINK!?!!" In fear as Rainbow zoomed around it and AJ zoomed past the Spoink. The Spoink turns around to see the two ponies run past it and it sighed in relief. It then feels a rumble from the ground which it turns around to see the other racers heading towards it which it yells out "SPOINK!!!" And it hops quickly along the pathway as the racers was following it.

Your POV:

"I am so lost." I said as I was running through the woods trying to find my way back to the pathway. I have been in these woods for who knows how long and I cannot find my way out of the woods. "Ugh!! .... If only I wasn't in my thoughts then this wouldn't happen." I said as I cut through some trees until I stumbled my way back to the path. "Yes!!!" I cheered as I ran to what I think is the right way when I saw what appears to be the exit and... "The finish line!?" I yelled as I saw the finish line in all of its glory. "Yes!! This means that I won! ... but wouldn't this count as cheating? ....Dang it, now I have to stop and wait for the other racer."

I thought as I slowed down when I was suddenly caught in a cloud where I hear two familiar voices as I was now caught in their battle as we then crossed the finish line. "So much for waiting for the other racers." I thought. "It's a tie!" Spike said. "That make sense." I said as the other two yelled. "Tied?!" "For last!" Pinkie said. "....How long was I lost in there!?" I asked. "Then who won?" Rainbow asked as we saw Twilight walking up to us with a medal. "You?!" The three of us said. "Oh no, but I did get fifth place, which is rather good considering I've never run a race before."

She said. "What? How's that even possible?" "You ran so slow, and looked at the scenery." "To be honest I kinda gotten lost so I have no idea what happened." "I guess that's why I never saw you." Twilight said and she adds. "And to explain how I got fifth. Well, I paced myself, just like my book said. Then at the end, when all the other ponies were worn out, I sprinted to the finish." "I'm not sure how to feel right now.... On one hand I lost. But, I kinda got lost so I never really got a chance to race anyone....Huh." I said as I was trying to figure out how to feel.

"Well, we weren't very good sports back there." "And our behavior was just terrible." Rainbow and AJ said. "Sounds to me that an important lesson was learned." We heard someone say as we then saw Celestia walked up to us. "Princess Celestia?!" The three of us yelled in surprise. "What brings you here?" I asked. "Fall is one of my favorite seasons, so I came to celebrate the Running of the Leaves." She explained. "I'm sorry you had to see us being such poor sports, Princess." "Now I really wish that I didn't get lost."

"That's all right, Anypony can get swept up in the excitement of competition and get lost." She told us. "It's important to remember that the friendship is always more important than the competition." "Exactly, Twilight. Now, unfortunately, because the two of you were busy tricking each otherinstead of shaking down leaves and you got lost, many of the lovely trees of Equestria are still covered." Celestia said as she motions to the leaf covered trees.

"Why, Princess, I bet we can knock those leaves down for you lickety-split. Whaddya say, friends? Wanna go for another run?" AJ asked us. "I'd love to stretch my legs." "It would be nice to run with others and not get lost." I said as we were fixing to run when I then said. "Wait? Who did win?" I asked. "Oh, that adorable creature over there." Celestia said as she pointed to a spoink who was holding a medal. "A Spoink won?!" "Hey, I saw that creature while running. It wasn't a participant." Rainbow said. "True. But the ponies felt bad for making it hop through the pathway and since it did crossed the finish line first, they let it have first place." Twilight said as the three of us were staring at the spoink for a few seconds and then we went on our redo run.

Sorry this chapter took a while. Got distracted by binging new shows, movies, playing video games and the holidays.
