Chapter 82 Drug The meal stirred up a whirlwind of thoughts for everyone present.

Corynn excused herself to the restroom, with Lillian trailing closely behind, brimming with curiosity.

Once Corynn left, Elliot grew restless and soon followed suit.

Morris attempted to console Amanda by saying, “Try not to dwell too much. You can’t force people to feel a certain way.”

Morris had long suspected Elliot’s lack of genuine feelings for Amanda. Otherwise, they would have been married by now.

Thus, Elliot’s suggestion to call off the engagement didn’t come as a surprise to him.

However, Amanda saw things differently.

“You believe emotions can’t be coerced? But isn’t that precisely what he’s attempting?” Amanda shot back with frustration evident in her voice as she drained her glass.

“Oh, is that how you see it?” Morris was uncomfortable with her distress, so he made an excuse to leave as well.

Left alone in the room, Amanda wiped angrily at the wine stain on her lips, retrieving a vial of Bad Blood from her bag and adding a drop into Elliot’s wine glass.

Elliot’s actions had driven her to this point.

Her days spent following him around weren’t in vain. She was merely testing the waters.

If Elliot could be so callous for Corynn’s sake, then Amanda saw no reason to hold back.

Glancing toward the door, Amanda added a drop of Bad Blood to Corynn’s glass, her expression icy.

While her aim was to manipulate Elliot completely, she also harbored intentions to sabotage Corynn.

With her phone in hand, Amanda arranged for a few men to wait outside the hotel.

She then waited in silence for the others to return.

In the hotel restroom, Lillian playfully tapped Corynn on the shoulder. “That man seems quite taken with you. His gaze was fixated on you,” she said.

Corynn wore a wry smile. “I’m not interested. Besides, his stare makes me uneasy.”

Elliot’s involvement always seemed to bring trouble, and Amanda’s glare was nothing short of lethal.

“But he’s quite attractive. Are you certain you don’t want to give him a chance? I bet he’s skilled in more ways than one,” Lillian bantered.

“Feelings can’t be forced. I don’t share his sentiments, so his affection for me would only burden us both,” Corynn clarified.

Lillian sighed wistfully. “I had hoped there might be a spark between you two.”

Corynn simply smiled and said, “We should head back.”

Upon their return to the private room, Elliot and Morris awaited.

Morris had anticipated Elliot offering solace to Amanda. Instead, Elliot bluntly proposed compensation, suggesting transferring all profits from a particular project to Amanda’s family.

Amanda remained silent, her eyes brimming with tears.

Grabbing her bag, she made for the door but hesitated upon seeing Corynn.

Wiping her tears away, she put on a brave front. “Fine, I’ll accept your compensation, but on one condition.”

Elliot nodded. “What is it?”

“My birthday is in two weeks. No matter how busy you are, you must attend in the attire I choose. Otherwise, I won’t agree to call off the engagement!” Amanda declared.

Attending a birthday celebration was a simple request, one Elliot had no reason to decline. “Alright, I can agree to that.”

With that, she felt a semblance of relief and regarded Corynn with less animosity.
