Chapter 42

High priest

The heroic villainess

This chapter's song is: Overdose by Exo!

Sylvia's POV:

It's been a full week since I've woken up from my coma and I look much better than before. Although I was still miles away from my former body, I gained my weight back and my skin looks much more healthier.

Today is the day when the high priest is coming to visit. As always, I was eating my breakfast with Ace: an omelette stuffed with vegetables and a fruit bowl with some water.

As we finished breakfast, Ace carried me to the bathroom and left me for some privacy. That's right, I'm officially healthy enough to take a bath which I seriously missed.

The bubble thing also eased up as some maids were allowed to attend to me, however, they had to be quarantined for a week before working for me and they were allotted special quarters so they wouldn't pass any outside germs onto me.

I sigh as I dive deeper under the water. I miss my friends. I wanna know how Violet is doing with Allen, and if Allen is still third-wheeling on Rillaine and Lucas. I wanna know if Monique has got a boyfriend or even a fiancée yet.

Well then you should visit them. I want to Luna, but this bubble doesn't even allow me to see my parents let alone my friends.

That is sad, oh well. I heard the high priest is coming in two hours, once he heals you then you can see them. You're right Astro. I get up from the bath and reach for the towel to dry off. I then change into a fresh nightgown and wrap my hair in the towel.

"Ace! I'm done!" I yell. Ace soon comes in and carries me back to my bed before reaching for my head towel and drying my hair off. He does a better job than the maids.

"So once the high priest comes, can I see my parents?" I ask.

"That should be the plan. Your parents are very eager to see you," he replies as he uses some of his magic to dry my hair and then brushes it.

"Your friends are also waiting to meet you, Rillaine is in the palace right now," Ace says as he braids my hair.

"Rin? Does that mean Lucas is with her?"

"Most likely, however, I think she is here on her own, all done." I look at the mirror and see the back of my head. I love the braids that Ace does, it's tight enough so no stray hairs can fly into my face but loose enough to make me comfortable.

"Thank yo- cough" I tried saying thank you again but it was interrupted by a cough, soon, I was in a coughing frenzy and couldn't breathe.

"Sylvia?! Get the physician! Sylvia, breathe!" Ace orders the maids as he tries to help me breathe. My throat feels stuffy as I cough something red into my hand: blood. My head feels dizzy, I can't keep my eyes open...

"Hey, wake up, come on."

My eyes feel heavy and tired.

"Don't ignore me, wake up," the voice says again.

"What?!" I groan in an annoyed voice.

I open my eyes in annoyance, only to find myself in a black room if you could even call it a room, with Astro.

"What are you doing here? Better yet, where the hell are we?" I groan as my head begins to ache.

"What the hell did you do master?!" Astro asks.

"Huh waddaya mean?" I ask, cutting between my pronunciation because I was so tired.

"This is your mind," Astro says. That statement snaps me out of my headache as I look around.

"Stop lying, my mind is filled with manga and it certainly doesn't look like it's been imitating the abyss," I say.

"Does it look like I'm lying?! I've been trying to wake you up from your subconsciousness since... I don't even know how long because it seems time has stopped here!" Astro yells.

I look around again. This couldn't be my mind. My mind is comfy and somehow always has chocolate milk on hand and a huge bed with...

"Where's Twilight?!" I gasp as I don't see my incarnation of dark magic anywhere.

"It seems she's dead," Astro says as he sits down.

"Dead?! She can't be dead?! Magic can't die!"

"Well, then she's just erased right now. I'm sure you can imagine but at this moment you barely have control of your mind let alone your power. It seems your brain thought that it needed to cut off some dead weight to reboot. Twilight seems to be that dead weight," Astro observes.

"No way, I deleted Twilight?!"

"It's more of... You sent Twilight away on a vacation and she'll come back once your mind and body are up and running."

"You keep saying this is my mind, so what's going on with my body, and where's Luna?"

"With your body. We decided to split apart: I try and stabilise your mind while she tries to stabilise your body. We wouldn't want you to croak after all since our lives are entwined," Astro explains.

It suddenly hits me. I totally forgot about if I die then so do my familiars...

"What... Happened to me. I was doing just fine for two weeks so why now did this happen?" I ask.

"I don't know... Again, that powder is unknown. My main theory is you were progressing too quickly and your body couldn't handle all the magic returning at once so it crashed."

"No way I could've crashed, I barely did anything. And even if I crashed, why did it happen two weeks from when I woke up, it would've made more sense if I crashed in that week," I say as I try to think of the cause.

"Well it's all I've got for now, I didn't have time to really come up with an answer because I was busy trying to keep you alive," Astro shrugs.

"So it's clear that my mind is good now, is my body okay?"

"Well judging from the fact that you haven't snapped back to reality I'm guessing not," Astro sighs as he looks up at nothing.

"So... Is twilight going to come back once I've returned to my body?" I ask.

"Most likely, she's basically your power in a form, so she will come back sooner or later."

"Well then let's get comfy because we might be here... A whi-" I begin to feel dizzy.

"Oh look, seems like your body is ready, goodbye," Astro says as he smiles and waves. I collapse back into nothingness and my first breath stung my lungs as I opened my eyes again.

As I looked around, I saw a man with silver hair longer than Rapunzel looming over me, a glowing hand towards my heart. He was wearing an emerald headpiece and was clad in white robes. His eyes were also silver and his coffee-coloured face looked flawless... Is this God? Am I dead?

"Oh, it seems you've returned to us," the man says in a sweet voice as he retracts his hand.

"Haa" when I tried to speak, only wheezing came out.

"Ah ah ah, I wouldn't make any sudden movements if I were you, it already ok me long enough to bring you back to consciousness, please don't waste my efforts."

I stopped moving as I looked at the man.

"Oh dear me, I forgot to introduce myself, I am high priest Imris. Pleasure to meet you," the man introduces himself. Whoa, this man... Is smoking. OMG, I can't be thinking bad about a priest, especially since I have a fiance, bad Sylvia, bad Sylvia.

"You must be very lucky that I came here in time, it seems that the powder had weakened your control on your mana and was going to crush your heart if it wasn't soothed."

My heart... Was about to be crushed?! by my own magic as well, talk about a double-edged sword!

"You needn't worry anymore, I've restored your hold on your mana as well as deeply purified your body and mind, you should be up and running in no time," the priest reassured me.

Suddenly a knocking was heard at the door.

"It seems like you have visitors," the priest says as he waves a hand in the air. Two men who looked like the priest's disciples opened the door. I feel King of bad for not noticing them but then again I am a sick patient so excuse that.

The first one to rush in was my mother.

"Sylvia!" My mother cried as she ran to me and squeezed me. I tried hard not to wince because I know how long she had to wait just to hug me.

"Madam please be gentler, she just woke up," Priest Imris says as he gets in from his seat. My father soon joined me and faced the priest after.

"She'll be fine now right?" My father asked.

"Of course, I've removed any lingering poison from her organs, she can now learn how to walk freely again, the lady just needs to rest right now though," the priest answers. So it was the powder's fault that I couldn't walk properly... Damn powder.

My mom was stroking my hair as she cradled me in her arms.

"Oh my sweet silver drop, life was hell without you," my mother says as she began to cry. I started shedding tears too and my heart clenched, I didn't like seeing her cry.

"Sylvia!" I hear a certain voice cry out. I turn my head to see Rin as she runs to me.

"I came as soon as I heard you collapsed again! Oh, Sylvia, you shouldn't have overworked yourself too much, I wanted to come earlier but couldn't because of the bubble!" Rin says as she runs into my arms and hugs me, her sunny blonde hair going everywhere.

She hugged me tight and only let me go when Lucas peeled her off me. You heard it, Lucas was there as well. I mean, I can't say I'm surprised, wherever Rin is, Lucas will surely be close by.

"Geez, you're so weak, collapsing after doing nothing," Lucas clicked his tongue at me in displeasure.

"Ha-" I tried to wheeze out 'then why did you come?' but that failed.

"Lucas please," Rin held Lucas's hand and started to beg him for something. Lucas only turned his head towards her before clicking his tongue again. He then rummaged for something in his pocket and pulled out a vial of purple liquid.

"Make her take this, it's a high-class healing potion specifically meant for the strengthening of the body," Lucas says as he throws the vial to my father who catches it with only one hand.

"Thank you, your highness," my father says half-heartedly as he opens the vial and makes me drink it. It tasted disgusting.

"Well it's for strengthening, it's not supposed to taste good," Lucas says as I could tell it's clear he read my facial expressions. I tested out my vocal cords, before finally taking a deep breath.

"Thank you, Lucas," I say.

"You should be thanking my fiancée or I wouldn't have wasted a potion like that on you," Lucas says as he turns away.

"Thank you so much, Lucas!"  Rin says as she hugs his arm. Lucas turned the other way as I could see a bit of a red tint.

"Mother, where's Ace?" I ask as I look around for him.

"Ah the crown prince, I reckon he's still resting, you can imagine my surprise when I see him at my doorstep in Kilorn. He specifically transported by lightning to come and fetch me, however, the distance between Kilorn and the royal palace was over 9000 miles apart and he did transport over 780 priests and luggage on the way," priest Imris says.

My mouth was agape. Hefelia was no small country as it contained a large amount of land. For Ace to transport all those priests over such a large distance would've taken up so much energy that he'd be on death's door.

"Don't worry Sylvia, he'll be fine. Lucas has already handed the King a potion to help his highness recover," my father tells me.

"Oh my sweet silver drop, as soon as your legs are strong enough again, I'm taking you straight home. I can't bear to be apart from you again," my mother says as she hugs me again. I smile faintly as I hugged my mom, but my mind was only about Ace. I couldn't help but worry...

Guys, you would actually not believe this but my iPad broke. In case you don't know, my iPad is my go-to gadget for writing on Wattpad. I just don't like small keyboards and laptops aren't easy to manoeuvre as touch screen iPads. Right now I'm trying to convince my parents to get me an early birthday present but until then it looks like I'm typing this on my phone. However small keyboards really put me off writing so just a heads up if I don't post as quickly as I would normally do. But this chapter should satiate you guys until next week or so. Goodbye~~
