Chapter 56: Sasha

Switching to brothers

I was sitting on my balcony when I heard a knock. How dare they? How dare they have the audacity to knock when they looked through my entire diary?

"Chica, please open the door." Zack's pleading voice passed through the wood of my door.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "You've only given me ten minutes to cool down? Haven't you ever had a girlfriend?"

"Please Lidia, we're trying to help you!" I recognized as Jesse's voice.

I let out a humorless laugh "I see what you're doing. You guys think that since the nicer of the five brothers are talking, I'll talk. Nice try."

The sunny afternoon soon turned cloudy. I like to think Mother Nature listens to me and my cries for help. I like to think that my mood affects the weather. It may make me have a main character personality, but I don't care.

Five minutes later I hear another knock. "Jesus you guys! What about 'no' do you not unde-"

"It's not them, it's me. I know you're still cooling off, but there's something you should know. But! I'm not telling you unless you let me in." Sasha bargained. I tossed it around in my head. She knew I was a curious person and used that to her advantage.

Oh why not.

I stood up and unlocked the door. I didn't open it, just unlocked it. I stood back as the door opened just enough for a person to come through.

"Hello Pretty Girl." Sasha's warm smile flooded her face.

Immediately my face wanted to smile back but then I remembered I'm mad. "Hello. What's the story?"

"How was your trip? I heard that you got into a fight." Sasha talked as she walked towards the balcony. She took a blanket off my bed and pulled a spare chair from the corner and sat on the balcony, almost as if she knew I would follow.

"It was cold. But yes, I did have a good time. I uh, tried alcohol." I nervously said as I sat down.

She chuckled at my statement. "Trust me my dear, Caden was about two years younger than you when he first drank beer."

I instantly imagined a twelve year old Caden. "Wait, you're supposed to tell me that story. Remember? That's the whole reason I let you in." I crossed my arms.

She sighed. "Yes I remember. Do you know why I didn't tell the boys about your scars?"

I looked up at her. "No? Why?"

She smiled sadly. "Because I have some of my own. When I was younger I dated a guy in high school who wasn't very nice to me. Oh my god who am I kidding," she face palmed, "he used to beat me black and blue. The reason I didn't tell anyone was because I had just lost my little sister to suicide. She was your age you know," she smiled at me with a sad look in her eyes. I now know why Sasha became immediately attached to me. I reminded her of someone very dear to her whom she had lost.

"Sasha, I-I'm so sorry." I rushed out.

"It's okay," she wiped a stray tear from her face, "truth be told, I would still be in that relationship to this day if it weren't for her suicide. We had friendship necklaces that connected with a magnet that said 'sisters 4ever'. It was like eight dollars but it was the last thing we shared." She paused.

I grabbed ahold of her hand. Sasha was one of the strongest people I know. It seems like she would never take anyone's bullshit and yet, she was in a abusive relationship. She was abused like me.

"He had said I did something bad and as a punishment he would burn something of mine. He ripped the necklace off my neck and threw it into the fireplace. I screamed like never before, but something finally clicked. I knew then I couldn't keep it a secret. So I didn't. The next day I built up courage and told my mom. The guy's still in jail and will be for another ten years."

"Sasha I'm so sorry." I said as I squeezed her hand. I knew I could do nothing to comfort her. It pained me to know that.

"It's okay, I've come to peace with that. I've also made myself a vow that I would never be in an relationship like that, ever again. Have I ever told you the story of how I officially met Caden?"

I looked up for a bit before looking back at her. "No I don't think so."

"Well technically the first time was when I ran into him and made him spill all his bags. That little turd just told me to watch where I was going and stalked off like a prick-excuse my language-and I was about to smack him upside the head." She paused again, deciding wether or not to tell the rest of the story.

"Well? Come on? What happened next?" I said before I could even think about what was coming out of my mouth.

"We had the same class. I went after class to ask the professor a question. He told me to come in-he was still in the lecture room-and so I did. He began to walk behind me, towards the door. I didn't think anything of it since I thought he was grabbing something. Turns out he was locking the door. I heard the click and snapped my neck around only to see him look at me with greedy eyes. I backed up immediately and screamed before he pinned me on his desk and pulled down his pants," her eyes were watering again, "thankfully Caden had to ask the professor something also so when he heard my scream he busted down the door and saved me. I knew immediately then that I was going to marry him."

She had also felt what it was like to be violated. She knew the total helplessness and fear that spreads through your body in two seconds.

"Sasha... why are you telling me this?" I finally asked.

She wiped her eyes and looked me dead on. "Because I wanted you to know that I have some understanding of what you went through. Your brothers are at a total loss here Lidia. They've never had someone lie to them before, or not lie this well. This is so new to them, even though it may not seem like it with the mafia and all."

"So you knew about it?" I asked her. She knew about it even though she was in law school?

"Yes, I do. If you're wondering why I didn't tell you, it was not my secret to tell. As soon as you make me promise not to tell something and I actually like you," she winked, "then my mouth will never utter those words. Understand?"

I looked away. What she said made sense. It must be hard though, living with that information and not being able to tell your lover.

"Why are you telling me all this?" I asked. There was some point in telling me all this. If she kept this a secret from me for this long, there had to be a point.

She sniffed. "Because Lidia, what did you feel when I told you the truth about my high school years?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Helpless? Like I knew there was nothing I could do to comfort you."

"Now my dear, what do you think your brothers feel?" She said again.

I lowered my eyebrow. "Helpless."

She took my face in her hands. Her right hand began to caress my cheek. "I know you are still mad, I would be too. All I'm saying is you give them a chance. God gave you a second chance when He put you in this home, didn't He?" She said, pulling the God card.

"I suppose so." I whispered.

"Then give them a second chance. You can still be mad, hell you could be livid. And remember, this is your room. You can kick them out any time." She whispered the last part, in case they were listening which they probably were.

"Okay." I agreed. No matter what she said, it all made sense. Everything she said made sense. As much as I didn't want to do it, I would be a hypocrite.

She kissed me on the forehead. "I love you Beautiful Lady."

As always, Sasha's right. Idk abt her pulling the religion card though 👀. Again, I cried when writing this chapter. I hope you liked and dont forget to vote, comment, and obviously like :)
