Chapter 24

Alexandra's POV

"And one last touch. You're ready!" Maria squealed. "You look gorgeous!" She said with aw.

"Thank you. It's you who did the masterpiece." I laughed.

"Indeed. I'm proud of this." She winked and we laughed. We heard a knock and Maria told the person to enter.

"My ladies his highness prince Brandon is waiting for Lady Alexandra."

"Okay we're coming." I told him. "I'm nervous."

"It's okay to be. But remember enjoy yourselves tonight." She smiled a warm smile at me and together we left the room.

"Hey Conor."

"Hello my Lady." He bowed.

We walked to the stairs and stopped at the top. I looked at Maria one more time before I descended the stairs. I walked down step by step slowly until I was met by a very handsome prince. Known as my fiance. Emerland's future king. I met his brown eyes and they soften a bit. We forgot the world around us and stared at each other for what seemed like ages but was only a few seconds. I didn't notice that Andrew was with him until we heard a cough. I smiled at Andrew and he kissed my hand.

"You look beautiful Alex." He winked at me.

"Thank you." I blushed. Brandon was glaring at us.

"Relax Brandon I have my eyes on Maria only." He patted his back but the scowl didn't leave Brandon's gorgeous face.

"Good. Go to her then."

"My heart is broken. Are you getting rid of me?" Andrew joked and I laughed. Brandon's eyes were on my lips then they went back to my eyes. I looked at the floor.

"Yes I am. Now go." Andrew laughed and left us alone. Well except for the guards obviously.

"You look beautiful Alexa." Brandon said standing an inch away from me. I tilted my head up to look at him with a blush on my face.

"Thank you." I whispered. Our lips were inches apart and his eyes flickered from my eyes to my lips and back to my eyes. He cleared his throat and held my hand.

"Let's go."

The guards opened the door for us and we exited the castle. We kept walking around the gardens for a bit until we arrived to a big willow tree. He parted the leaves and inside was a table with two seats and candles everywhere. It was breathtaking. I loved it.

"This is amazing." I said.

"I'm glad you like it."

We sat on the chairs and two maids brought the food for us. The dinner was a steak with mashed potato and salad. The poured us wine and left. We ate in silence until he broke it.

"So. I'm being crowned next week." Next week?! So soon already??

"I thought in a couple of months." I told him.

"My dad wants it that way. But I'm planning to prolong the date." He said not looking into my eyes.

"Why?" I asked him.

"Because then you won't leave me sooner." Totally not what I was expecting.

"I-"

"I don't want you to leave Alexa. I need someone by my side. To help me choose the good and the best. To prevent me from making mistakes. To be a mother to my people. The people of Emerland needs you Alexa." My heart was beating fast. This definitely wasn't what I was expecting.

"I can't stay Brandon." I told him truthfully.

"Why? Why can't you?" He was desperate.

"I'm marrying someone else."

"You're my fucking fiance. I'm not letting you go. Is it something in me?"

"What? No. It's something that's related to me. But I can't tell you. Please understand." I begged. He stood up and smashed the table.

"Brandon stop ple-"

"Don't Alexa. Just don't feed me lies. You stop. You know what? Leave. I don't care. You're not worthy of the title. I was going to make you a queen. Yet you chose a coward. Why?"

"I won't answer you." Tears started welling in my eyes. I can't do this anymore. I stood up to leave but he caught me from my elbow and spun me. He held me by my waste and our chests were touching.

"Please let me go." My voice broke.

"Never!" With that said he kissed me. Everything faded from around us. We were alone in this world. His kiss was soft yet full of domination. I kissed him back because I knew I will never have the chance to kiss him again like this. We both needed air so we parted and he rested his forehead on mine.

"I'm a man of my words. I assure you you won't be leaving." I stared at him. "You have a week to make up your mind. The coronation day will be our wedding day." What?

"What n-"

"Just think more about this Alexa. I won't hold you back but I will fight for you."
