Up for hot milk? Ch 5
What makes a Master Merchant
Meanwhile in Dimeâs mansion two adults were arguing in the kitchen.
âTealla sit down your ass! You put too much salt in the soup, youâre clearly in no shape to be making launch today.â
âWith age have you gone blind? Iâm perfectly FINE. Just have to put more potato in it and it should taste like every time.â
âOstrara give me the patience to deal with this fool. Peacock boy itâs not fine, if you donât want to sleep Iâm not gonna force you but at least do something that you can be doing while resting on your butt.â
Mathilda then took over the kitchen forcing Tealla to sit down. He finally accepted his fate but took out a sketchbook full of runes and sigils and started scribbling in it.
âIs that the project for Mira?â
âYeahâ¦normal prosthetics would be too much for her body, I already spoke with every doctor under the sky, but they all say the same thing. Donât worry I will continue the dressmaking the Lady told me to do. Just until lunch is readyâ¦â
Mathilda was looking at him immersed in the notebook. He was a hot headed man, but had a heart of gold. His every waking hour was spent working on helping somebody or cooking. Lately he fell behind on sleep, he told her that just one more page, one more thesis, one more stitching and he would go to sleep. So when she asked him to taste the soup she put some sleeping powder on the spoon. Soon after he collapsed snoozing peacefully.
âThe powder isnât this strong, my boy you must have been really tired. RAMIR! Get him to bed before eating.â
âSure...â
Ramir picked him up and put him in bed after bringing down his sister. He stroked the man face and covered him with a blanket. He left the room and went to the kitchen his head hanging low.
âThank you Ostrara from the bottom of our heart for providing us with nourishment and energy.â
Mira finished the prayer and held a special spoon in her stub and started eating.
âWhy the long face sweetheart? Did something happen?â
âI feel useless. He can do more for Mira that I ever could. He is such a good guy, working till collapsing.â

âYeah, well⦠we are a family now just because he is better in magic engineering than us doesnât mean we arenât needed. Right Mira?â
âThatâs right brother, we will all do our share to help Lady Dime. Thatâs why we should live.â
The friendly chatter came to a cold stop. Ramir was looking deeply in the bowl of soup like it was the most interesting thing in the World. Mathilda hurriedly packed the leftover soup in a container and cleaned up.
She then went to take a look at Tealla but just after two hours of sleep he was up again sewing a dress.
âShouldnât you sleep more?â
âNo, thanks to the little nap my head is a lot clearer. But actually, I need your help with something.â
âWhat can this old grandma help a young gentleman like yourself with?â
âSweet Mana you can drop the act. I didnât get a good enough look of the ram to make perfect uniform to him. So can you show me his form?â
âBut you already did the sketches.â
âYeah, I looked at him from ass to neck.â
âYou little perv.â
âWhat can I say, when I see something good, I canât take my eyes off it.â
Mathilda chanted a few words and took the shape of Kaga. Only the eyes remained the same blue color that she had.
âYou have divine taste I have to admit. Look at these abs, and his assâ¦â
âCan you stop it youâre making it weird again. Just stay still as I take the measurements.â
âSuch a mood killer.â
After half an hour they were done with the job and Mathilda turned back to the form of a granny.
âI just canât understand why would someone chose to be in an old form when you could be younger.â
âI have my reasonsâ¦anyway if you are done, I take a look at the kids. They need it.â
âThank you, old hag.â
âNo problem peacock boy.â
She stepped out of the room and took a turn to the corridor. She mentally noted the things the building still needed done. She knocked on a heavy wood door then slid inside.
Mira was buried in documents as always. She struggled to turn the pages but didnât ask for help. Thanks to her immerse concentration she didnât even notice Mathilda.
âMira, would you like some warm milk? Iâll make some to Ramir too. Where is he?â
âThank you Iâd like some, but you donât have to make it for brother. He is out again. He wonât be coming home till morning.â
Mathildaâs face darkened. The boy disappeared from time to time and always came back full of blood and some money. They didnât ask what he was doing, but it was disturbing see the cheerful childish trickster return with dark expression, but Dime said to leave it for now.
âLady Dime and Kaga will be returning soon. If you want to meet them, you can call me and I take you down.â
âThere is no need. The Lady still has a lot of work so I will see the at dinner. But it will be full moon soon. Donât you have to prepare?â
âI still have a few days so it should be okay, you donât have to worry about me.â
She felt that Ostrara brought to her to a really great place. Maybe different from the one she imagined, but it was real family to her. She suddenly felt something on her feet climbing up.
âRay welcome home. Can I count you in for warm milk?â
âYay, warm milk! Rayâs favorite, oh no its hot chocolate, no marzipan!â
âYou really like sweets, do you?â
âRay likes sweets, but he likes Dime the most!â
âI thought so. She will be home soon. Until then just drink your milk and sit tight.â
Mathilda liked being the childrenâs nanny, it came so naturally. As the warm milkâs sweet aroma filled the mansion, two cloaked silhouettes entered the door.
