Chapter 177
The Contract Marriage
Actually as a smart person Jasmine knew what he wanted to say. So not giving him a chance to speak, she turned around and walked towards her leather chair.
When she sat down in front of the bossâs table, seeing the silent David, she waved her hand again. âGo quickly. I will be waiting for you here. If you have something to say, come back and tell me.â
David looked at her and hesitated for a moment. After a moment, he nodded and walked out of Jasmineâs office. He took the elevator to the chairmanâs office.
As an employee of Wilson Group, David had been working in the company for a while. However, this was the first time he had been alone with Joseph. He had only been following Jasmine before. So he felt somewhat awkward when it came to her father.
In fact, he had heard some things about Joseph in the newspapers and the news. He knew that Joseph was very capable when it came to managing a company. His life was also very legendary. It was just that in the past two years, he had grown older and older. He had already started to retreat behind the scenes.
David had always admired this person, but he had never had the chance to be alone with him. But he had never thought that Joseph himself would actually take the initiative to request to see him.
When David walked out of the elevator and walked to the secretariat room, Josephâs secretary told him that the chairman was waiting for him. The secretary opened the office door for David and watched him walk in. He then gently closed the door of the room.
Joseph was sitting on the bossâs desk and leaning against the leather chair. He had basically handed over the companyâs matters to his son and daughter, so even if he came to the company now, he rarely dealt with work matters.
As soon as David walked in, Joseph looked at the young man and nodded with a smile. He gestured for David to sit down in front of his table.
âThank you, Chairman. I can just stand there.â
Joseph smiled and looked at him as he stood up from the leather chair. He walked slowly to the sofa and asked David to sit down with him.
David knew that it would not be good if he refused again, so he nodded and sat on the sofa beside Joseph. He looked at Joseph and asked respectfully, âChairman specifically asked me to come here. Is there something you need?â
Joseph smiled. âI wanted to talk to you about a few things, so I called you here. You wouldnât mind, would you?â
âIâve seen the chairman in magazines and TV shows before. Iâve also heard some of your legendary experiences. Itâs my honor to have the opportunity to be alone with the chairman today. How could I mind?â
âHaha! I have always thought that you are a person who does not know how to flatter others. Now it seems that you are not.â
David immediately replied respectfully, âI only said what I felt from the bottom of my heart.â
âHaha! Good! How about I tell you something from the bottom of my heart today?â Joseph smiled and nodded.
âChairman, please speak.â
âOkay! Then I will speak frankly.â Joseph nodded and looked at David as he went straight to the point.
âI have three daughters. My elder daughter and the younger daughter are married. I am not worried about my son, Syrus. But among these children, the one Iâm most worried about is my second daughter, Jasmine. Because her personality is too strong, sometimes she also appears too domineering. So many boys who liked her at the beginning, after getting along for a while, many of them could not stand her personality. So her marriage had been delayed until now.â
âThe reason why I called you here today. . . Because you are the person she likes the most. Before I called you here to see me, I also understood some things about you. As well as my previous relationship experiences, although I also know that I shouldnât interfere in this sort of thing and the matters of you young people should be settled by yourselves, but I donât want my daughter to regret it for the rest of her life. So today, I wanted to call you over to ask about your true thoughts. I hope you donât mind. Can you tell me what you think of Jasmine?â
David listened to Joseph and thought for a while. He then looked at Joseph sincerely and said,â Thank you, chairman, for saying these things to me. I have been with Jasmine during this period of time. I know she is a good boss. Although she has a strong personality, she can always find the potential of her subordinates. To be able to accurately find your weakness can also bring out your strengths. I really have nothing to say to her in terms of work. But in terms of feelings. . . â
David paused for a moment, then he looked up at Joseph and continued, âSince the chairman said that he knew something about me, I will tell the chairman the truth today. I have not thought about the relationship for the time being. I hope the chairman can forgive me.â
âHave you thought about it? If you agree to date Jasmine, you donât have to worry about anything for the rest of your life. I donât think many ambitious young men will give up such a good opportunity so easily. If you leave the Wilson Group in the future, wonât you regret your decision today?â Joseph looked at David and asked slowly.
David smiled when he heard what Joseph said. âI will work hard for my career. If I try my best but fail, it only means that there is something wrong with my fate. No one can blame me. But if just for the fact that I do not have to worry about food and clothing in the future, I go out with Jasmine, not to mention others will look at me with colored glasses, even I will look down on myself!â
âThen what you mean is that it will never be possible between you and Jasmine? Canât you give her a chance?â Joseph listened to him and appreciated this young man even more.
âI donât dare to say something too absolute because no one can say anything about relationships. I just hope that the two of us can go with fate. . .â David answered truthfully.
Joseph smiled and nodded. âOkay! I understand. Thank you for saying these things to me. I hope it will not affect your relationship with Jasmine. You can go back now.â
David immediately stood up and nodded respectfully at Joseph. âI will be leaving first.â
Joseph smiled and nodded. He watched David walk out of the office slowly and then close the door. A satisfied smile appeared on his face.
Although Sarah kept trying to make herself forget about Greta in the entire morning, she was still a little absent-minded at work. There were several times when she made mistakes in the statistics.
Fortunately, she rechecked the data over and over again so she found about the problems.
It was almost noon. She received a call from David and he asked her out for lunch.
Sarah knew that David was worried about her. And with his personality, if she refused to have lunch with him, he would definitely find her, so she nodded and agreed.
After 12 oâclock in the afternoon, Sarah took her bag and took the elevator to the companyâs lobby.
When she walked out of the elevator, she saw David waiting for her not far away. She immediately lifted her foot and walked over.
âMr. David!â When she saw David in front of her, her mood became much better.
âLetâs go eat today. Just treat it as going for a walk with me, is that okay?â
âOkay, okay!â Of course, Sarah was happy to go with him.
David nodded and looked at her thoughtfully. He took her out of the square in front of Wilson Group, turned on the sidewalk, and walked forward.
âBy the way, why didnât you come to the company the day before yesterday?â David asked as they walked forward.
âI didnât feel well, so I took a leave of absence.â Sarah did not want him to worry about her, so she looked at the building not far away and lied.
David heard her words and smiled. âActually, you have never been good at lying since you were young.
Do you know why?â
Sarah shook her head guiltily.
âBecause people say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. When lying, the eyes will keep dodging. Your eyes are like this now. . .â David looked at her as he spoke.
Sarah pursed her lips and looked at the road in front of her. For a moment, she did not know how to answer his words.
âDid Christian do something to let you down?â There must be no other person besides Christian who could make her so sad.
âNo,â Sarah said quietly.
âThen something happened at home?â
Sarah shook her head again.
David grabbed her arm and asked her to stop. âSarah, no matter what, I am your Mr. David. Do you really not believe me?â
âNo, Mr. David. I am just a little confused right now. Give me two days. I will tell you in two days.â Sarah looked up at David and begged. She really did not know where to start about the matter between her and Christian. Her mind was in a mess. She just wanted to think quietly by herself.
David looked at her in silence. After a while, he nodded in agreement. âOkay! Then letâs go eat lunch now.â
âOkay. . .â
Knowing that Sarah would not take the initiative to tell him for a while, David did not continue asking.
The two of them went to have lunch.
Although Sarah felt uncomfortable, she still managed to eat a little. It was not for anything else. It was only for the innocent child in her womb.
After lunch, the two of them walked back to the company. When they were almost at the company, David, who had been silent the whole time, blocked her way.
âMr. David, whatâs wrong?â Sarah looked at David, who was blocking her way and looked up at him.
âWhat do you think? When we were eating, I was afraid that you wouldnât be able to eat, so I didnât ask you anymore. Now tell me, what did Christian do to make you so sad? Sarah, if you donât tell me today, then I will go directly to Christianâs troops. As long as I want to find him, I will definitely be able to find him!â
Sarah heard what David said and blinked her big eyes. âSo what if you find him? The relationship between me and him is already over.â
Sarahâs words made David frown in disbelief. He reached out and grabbed her arms. He stared at her and asked, âIs it over? Why is it over? Tell me quickly, what happened between you two?â
His guess was right. She was so sad because of Christian.
