Chapter 242
The Contract Marriage
Vivian and Julian were woken up by a knock on the door the second morning.
Vivian thought that it might be her cousin. She asked Julian to get her a coat and walked to the door.
She opened the door and saw that it was indeed Ruby.
Ruby was holding the bag she had brought yesterday. Her eyes were red and swollen as she stood at the door.
âRuby, what are you doing?â Vivian looked at Ruby in front of her and instantly understood that she was planning to leave Cooper Family. She immediately asked nervously.
Ruby lowered her head. âBig Sister, I want to go back. I canât serve you anymore in the future. . .â
Finishing, she turned around and was about to leave but was grabbed by Vivianâs.
âEven if you want to leave, wait for sister for a talk before leaving, okay?â
Ruby bit her lips and kept silent.
âNo matter what, I brought you here. If you just go back like this, Uncle will scold me to death, wonât he? Go back to the room and wait for sister for a while. Sister still has something to say. Okay?â
Vivian said as she pushed Ruby back to the guest room next door and let her sit by the bed, âYou see that sister is still pregnant. I know you feel wronged but I still have some things to say. Wait for me here for a while and I will go and put on my clothes. Okay?â
Ruby finally nodded her head in silence.
âWait for me, ah. . .â Vivian saw that she finally agreed and immediately went back to her room. She quickly put on her clothes and let Julian go downstairs first before going to Rubyâs room. When she walked in, she closed the door first and then went to sit beside Ruby.
âRuby, sister will apologize to you first. You donât know, there are four or five bottles of perfume on my dressing table. I donât know why I took the wrong perfume, which is why Julian did that. Itâs all my fault, if you want to blame. . . Blame me.â
After Vivian finished speaking, she immediately knelt down in front of Ruby.
âSister, what are you doing?â
Ruby was a soft-hearted girl, how could she receive such a big bow?
When she saw Vivian kneeling down for herself, she was so scared that she immediately stood up and reached out to help Vivian up, âSister, quickly get up.â
Vivian knelt and did not move as she looked at Ruby tightly grabbing onto her hand. Her eyes instantly turned red, âRuby, I know that your familyâs situation is not good. Originally I wanted to bring you over to earn some money to supplement the familyâs expenses, but who knew. . . Who would have thought that this kind of thing would happen. . . It was all my fault. It was older sister who let you down. . .â
âBig sister, donât say anymore. . . Quickly get up. . .â Ruby stretched out her hand and tried to lift Vivian up, but Vivianâs body was very heavy now and she could not lift her up at all.
âIf you forgive me, I will get up. . .â
Ruby bit her lips and looked elsewhere.
âRuby, hit sister. Itâs all my fault.â Vivian looked at her expression. Picking up Ruby hand, she hit her own face.
Rubyâs tears immediately fell. Hearing Vivianâs words, she could no longer bear to see Vivian kneeling in front of her and nodded against her heart, âSister, I will forgive you.â
After saying that, she lowered her head in grievance.
âReally? Youâre really willing to forgive me?â Vivian grabbed her arm tightly.
Ruby once again helped her up and this time Vivian also stood up.
The two of them sat beside the bed and Vivian grabbed her hand, âRuby. The matter has already happened and none of us can do anything about it. I discussed it with Julian. If you donât mind, then continue doing it in our house. Iâll raise your salary to five thousand a month. What do you think?â
Ruby lowered her head and remained silent.
Seeing that she did not speak, Vivian continued, âOther than this 5,000 yuan, I know that your father is currently ill. Because your family is poor, he does not have the money to go to the hospital to treat his illness. I have discussed with Julian and will give you 100,000 yuan to treat your fatherâs illness. Your salary here is still at 5,000 yuan. Do you think it will be okay?â
When Ruby heard that Vivian could treat her fatherâs illness, she looked up at Vivian. She asked in what you said true? Are you really willing to give money to treat my fatherâs illness?â
100,000 yuan was a huge sum of money for a family like theirs. If she could cure her fatherâs illness this time, she would admit it.
âOf course. Sister will definitely be able to do it.â Vivian immediately nodded her head.
Ruby bit her lips and hesitated for a moment before nodding her head, âOkay. Sister, I will listen to you.
I am not leaving. . .â
Vivian immediately let out a sigh of relief and grabbed her hand as she smiled, âGreat. Thank you, Ruby. Donât worry, Big Sister will definitely make it up to you.â
Ruby listened to her and lowered her head. She twisted the shirt and said in a low voice, âNo need, these are enough. . .â
âBut Ruby. . . If someone in the family asks later. . .â
âDonât worry. . . I wonât tell anyone. . . â
âThank you Ruby. . . But there is still uncle. . . â
Ruby lowered her head and replied. âI will not tell anyone. . . â
Vivian smiled in relief and reached out to take the bag from her hand and place it on the bed. âRuby, after breakfast later, I will bring you out to see the city. You have not been to here, right?â
Ruby shook her head.
âToday, I will bring you to take a look. I will go wash up first. You also need to wash up. Look at your swollen eyes. Madam will definitely ask later. Think about how to answer properly. I will go back first.â
Vivian stood up as she spoke. She looked at Ruby who still had her head down and turned around to walk out of her room. The moment the door was gently closed, Vivianâs heart was filled with joy.
When Ruby went downstairs, Daphne really saw the strange expression on her face but she was tactful and did not ask Ruby.
During breakfast, Daphne looked at Vivian and asked, âVivian, what happened to the girl you brought? I think she seemed to have cried before.â
When Daphne finished speaking, Ethan and Benjamin also looked towards Vivian.
Julian also looked at Vivian who was beside him nervously. He was more or less nervous, afraid that she would reveal what he had done.
Vivian looked at mother-in-law and smiled, âMom, there is nothing much. It is just that Ruby has never left home. She might not be able to sleep in another place after staying at our house for one night. So she missed home. In the morning, she stood at the door of our bedroom with a bag in her arms. I was shocked when I saw her and thought that something had happened to her. After asking, I found out that she missed home.â
Daphne immediately twitched her mouth when she heard that. âShe is already twenty-two, right? She still misses home at such a big age?â
Ethan heard Daphneâs words and said with some displeasure on his face. âEven if you are eighty years old, you still want to go home. Otherwise, those people living overseas wouldnât want to return to their roots. Whatâs wrong with missing home? It means that this child is not bad.â
Vivian heard Ethanâs words and immediately nodded her head in agreement. âDad is right. Ruby was very kind, but sometimes she was soft-hearted, so this kind of person was especially attached to the family. But after I guided her for a while, she has already thought things through.â
âThatâs good.â
Julian also heaved a sigh of relief when he heard Vivianâs words.
Three days passed in the blink of an eye.
No matter how unwilling Christian was to part with his little wife, he still had to return to the army.
Early in the morning, Christian helped Sarah clean up and then fed the breakfast that Samantha brought to Sarah. Only then did he sit beside her and gently hold her hand.
However, no matter how reluctant he was, he still had to leave.
âYou donât have to worry about me. Mom is here to take care of me. Thereâs also Mr. David and Ms.
Jasmine. I will be fine.â Seeing the reluctance in Christianâs eyes, Sarah did not wait for him to speak and comforted him with a smile.
Christian raised his hand to rub Sarahâs face and smiled bitterly. âYou are injured now. If you have anything to say, just tell them. If you miss me, call me.â
âEn, Hubby, I got it. Donât worry, I will be fine.â Sarah smiled and nodded, looking very relaxed.
âOkay. Then I have to go.â Christian stood up and kissed Sarah on the forehead. He stood up reluctantly and turned to look at Samantha. âMom, Iâm leaving.â
Samanthaâs nose twitched, but she still suppressed the sourness in her heart and nodded. âCall me when you arrive.â
âYes, I will.â Christian turned around to look at Sarah again, then left the ward without looking back.
Because he was afraid that he might not able to go back, if he turned back and saw her in the sickbed.
The moment the door closed, Sarah could not stop her tears from flowing.
Just now, she was afraid that Christian would not be able to rest assured of her, so she had been holding back her tears. Seeing that he had finally left, her tears could not help rolling down.
Samantha walked to her daughterâs bedside and sat down. She used a tissue to help Sarah wipe her tears, âWhat are you crying for? It is not like Christian will not come back.â
She tried to persuade Sarah, but in the end, she also cried with Sarah.
âMom, I miss him. . .â
She really didnât want him to leave. She really wanted him to stay by her side every day. Even if he didnât say anything, she could feel that she was safe and at ease inside and outside as long as Christian was by her side.
However, he was a soldier, and most of the time, he had no choice but to do his work.
There were some major reasons that she could understand. However, human emotions. . . She still could not control it.
âSilly child, why didnât you say anything when he was here?â Samantha wiped the tears from the corners of her daughterâs eyes with a pained expression.
âI canât let him worry about me. . .â
âSilly child, I know, I know.â
When Christian walked out of the consultation hall and was about to leave, he happened to catch up with David who came to see Sarah.
Knowing that Christian was going to leave, David drove him to the airport. When the car stopped in front of the airport lobby, Christian turned his head and looked at David. âDavid, about Sarah. . .â
Before Christian could finish, he was interrupted by David. âDonât worry. Even if you donât remind me, I will still go and see her. I heard from Sarah that as long as you do well this year, you can be transferred to our city. Donât let Sarah down.â
Christian heard what David said and knew that there were some things he didnât even need to say it, so he patted Davidâs shoulder heavily. âThank you. Iâll go.â
After saying that, he got out of the car, closed the door, and waved at David. Then, he turned around and quickly walked into the airport lobby.
David looked at Christianâs back and smiled. He stepped on the accelerator again, turned the car around and drove back to the hospital.
