"I don't give a shit what you want, you're not coming back to work here" I spit out

She leans on my desk, intentionally inching her dress higher up as she batts her eyelashes acting as if she doesn't know what she's trying to do,

"Oh come on it would be so much more fun around this office if I worked here again" she smirks and bites her lip,

I'm attempting to contain my anger, I know Vanessa doesn't like it when I scream at people, so I don't do it...well when she is around that is, and at the moment she's in her office which is just down the hall,

It's been about a week since she had her period and for the whole week she was moody and no doubt would have ripped some of my hair out if she found out I yelled at someone,

But this morning she acted as if she was never moaning in pain just mere days ago, she came into my office grinning giving me my coffee then thanking me for the flowers I got her,

Every week she smiled so beautifully at the flowers and it just makes me want to keep buying them over and over again to receive that smile I desperately want and crave,

She calms me and brings me joy, so I close my eyes and think of my sunshine,

And try to calm down...for her, I breathe in and out slowly,

"Get the hell out of my damn building right now," I say louder than I was anticipating,

Well guess that whole breathing shit didn't exactly calm me,

She pouts "oh come on Aaron, you can't tell me you haven't thought of me...maybe in a more unprofessional way" she purrs as she rounds my desk closer to me,

I jolt out of my seat before she can touch me,

"Get the hell out, and it's Mr. Huskley" I spit out in anger

"I don't think of you, I don't care about you and I certainly don't want you anywhere near me, so get these ridiculous fantasies that we end up together out of your head and get out of my building before I have you thrown out," I say lowly

"I don't mind the image of you throwing me around" she smirks

Are there genuinely people this stupid on this earth, who just don't understand a simple request?

"I'll make sure the only way you're sleeping is on the side of the road if you don't leave...remember the job you got right now? I can make a simple call and have you fired," I say sternly

"I know the people you work for and with one call they won't hesitate to throw you out of the building, so I suggest you never come back here if you want to keep the job you have"

She smiles "and what if I want a different job?"

"I'll make sure any job you have you won't succeed in until your only choice will be scrubbing toilets just to get by"

She hums "you know I can always scrub the toilets in your place, I can be your personal maid" she smirks coming close to me

"Not interested" I spit out

"Then maybe I can just wear the maid outfit" she purrs

I keep my hands in my pockets to keep myself from shoving her out of the window, it looks like the best exit for her as moments pass,

"The only person I would be okay with seeing in any outfit of that sort would be my girlfriend and you certainly aren't her," I say evenly, watching her smirk fall,

"Girlfriend...?" she frowns

"You don't have girlfriends" she shakes her head

"Really because the girl that sleeps in my bed every night and that I call my girlfriend would say otherwise" I raise a brow

She takes a deep breath in "oh please you're just trying to get me jealous, I know you want me"

I hum "Vanessa can you please come into my office you forgot to give me something" I smirk as I talk into my intercom

Wren's face slightly brightens in a pink shade "so you're honestly seeing her...it's not some sick joke that she's twisting?" she scoffs

"I can kiss her in front of you if that would make it believable" I smirk

I can see the anger radiating off of her "she's not worth it, she's lying to you" she spits

"You will see, you will crawl back to me and cry on my shoulder wishing she never came into your life, she's a lying piece of shit," she says as she glides her fingers up my chest

Before I can take her hands off me the angelic voice I have been needing right now says "gets your hands off my damn boyfriend"

"What these hands?" She smirks as she lowers her hand down, I catch her hand before it travels too far and grip her wrist,

"hands off" I spit out

She smirks and walks toward Vanessa,

"He's a pretty good kisser, too bad you interrupted before we got to the good stuff" wren pouts wiping the edge of her lip,

Vanessa tilts her head to the side and I can see she's sucking on some kind of hard candy as she smirks,

"Well, I guess I'll have to disinfect his mouth now...I think cherry will do the trick" she smiles walking over to me

"I didn't-" I start talking but she shuts me up with her lips,

I feel her asking for entry with her tongue which I gladly give,

I'm not a big candy person, but when she passes her what now I know as a cherry jolly rancher to me,

I can't get enough.

I completely forget wren is watching and I deepen the kiss,

After we disconnect I see a mischievous little smile on Vanessa's face which looks more adorable than anything with her rosy cheeks and we'll kissed lips,

"Here have your candy back," I say bringing her lips back to mine,

biting her bottom lip down and with my tongue passing the candy back into her mouth,

She pecks my lips one more time when we disconnect and turns around,

"Oh sorry I forgot you were there, we'll looks like he's all disinfected, have an amazing day" Vanessa grins as she waves her out,

Wren's face is flushed and red from watching us and she's heated with anger,

She walks over to Vanessa And I put my arms around her waist immediately,

"You will regret this shit, you're not worth it and he will hate you soon enough" she smirks

I feel Vanessa stiffen a little and I rub circles on her hips to comfort her,

No one is going to talk shit and try scaring someone I love,

I hum "seeing as you're threatening my girlfriend I think you will be the one regretting shit," I say completely calm now that I have felt Vanessa's lips on mine and presence right in front of me,

"Want a jolly rancher? I have blue raspberry, watermelon, and cherry the three best flavors" Vanessa says to wren and I can hear the smile in her voice,

She pulls jolly ranchers out of her pockets and I contain a smile,

She still has a heart of gold even for people who don't deserve it,

Wren scoffs "please like I would eat that shit, does my body look like it has had any sugar?" She lifts a brow

Vanessa looks her up and down with a frown then shrugs which only angers Wren even more "I'm not sure but I know that candy will make you happy" she smiles putting her hand out,

"I don't want your stupid jolly ranchers, no one does" she scoffs

"Aaron seemed to enjoy it a minute ago," Vanessa says and I chuckle

That's my girl.

Wren's eyes snap to mine and I smirk "now Vanessa and I have some business to attend to so if you would leave that would be appreciated" I smirk

"Oh please like office sex is business" she scoffs

"I think it's between my girlfriend and me what we decide to do in my office, goodbye now," I say sternly

She huffs and walks out not before turning her head around "you will regret this" she hisses to Vanessa,

"Have a good day, you should try out that sandwich place around the corner it's incredible" Vanessa smiles,

"Ugh WHATEVER," Wren says slamming the door closed

"So why did you call me here?" Vanessa asks turning around to look at me,

I lift her and put her on my desk "no reason, just to prove to a certain annoying speck of dirt that I have a gorgeous girlfriend and wasn't interested in scraps when I have the full meal" I smirk inching towards her

As I inch towards her she leans back on the desk, I hover over her,

"Did I tell you How gorgeous you look today?" I whisper in her ear

I feel her whole body go into shivers which puts a smile on my face when I see the effect I have on her,

"Yes, you did" she grins

I hum "well doesn't hurt to say it again"

I lean to her lips and before our lips touch I say "you look gorgeous, and that little stunt you pulled when wren was here was pretty hot"

"Yeah?" She smiles innocently

I hum and trail kisses on her jaw down to her neck

"She didn't kiss you right? Because I think I am going to need about 100 more jolly ranchers to disinfect your mouth" she frowns in realization,

"How much do 100 jolly ranchers even cost?" she murmurs

I grip her hips to keep her still "do I look like a man who would allow a woman who's not my girlfriend to touch me and get away with it?" I lift a brow

Her face turns pink which brings a smile to my face,

"If you didn't get there when you did I would've shoved her to the floor for touching me," I say against her lips

"So no kissing happened?" She lifts a brow

I chuckle "absolutely not, now can we forget about wren for an hour?" I ask kissing the spot behind her ear that always gets her,

She melts and hums in response,

"Can we visit a bakery today?" Vanessa asks after we finish work for the day

"Enzo Moretti's wife has a bakery called a slice of love and I want to visit it" she smiles as she wraps her arms around my neck And batts her eyelashes,

"Well I already had dessert today but if you want to, sure" I shrug

She slaps my shoulder and walks off to get her coat,

I chuckle and grab my wallet and coat loving to make her blush,

I catch up to her at the elevators and she grabs my hand and smiles up at me,

My heart does some stupid squeezing shit whenever I see her beautiful smile,

I kiss her forehead and pull her into the elevator with me, She laughs and puts her arms around my neck,

"So did you talk to Enzo about that project at his building?" She asks smiling at me when I lift her and she wraps her legs around me

"Yeah he called me to talk later about setting up a meeting, we're probably going to have it on the rooftop" I nod

She smiles and leans her head on my shoulder "I love you" she mumbles into my neck

I smile and hope the stupid security doesn't see how sappy this girl makes me "I love you" I mumble back into her ear which makes her squirm and laugh,

"Stop that tickles" she squirms

"Quite squirming you little brat" I scold playfully

She pouts and kisses the tip of my nose, which gets an eye roll out of me,

As she hides her face in the crook of my neck and clings to me I close my eyes in contentment,

She fits perfectly in my arms, how is one person able to make you feel so happy? I don't know how she achieves that,

She fills my mind with only her, I can barely function during the day without thinking about her, I can barely sleep if she's not in bed beside me, her smile alone calms me in a way nothing ever has,

She makes me a better man, and my parents have even noticed how much more enjoyable it is to be around me, though I still am considered an asshole at work,

Which I don't care about, I go to work to make money not to have everyone there like me, the only person I care about at work is the beautiful girl in the office at the end of the hall,

My beautiful assistant.

My girlfriend.

My sunshine.

I have gone soft and I'm not sure whether I like it or not, but closing my eyes and smelling the scent of strawberries and vanilla, and the perfect arms around my neck I can't seem to care if I have gotten softer,

I feel her breathing even out as I walk to my car, its the end of work for today so there are a few people here packing up for the day,

I have a little surprise for her today, she always takes taxis, subways, or has me drive her places so I may or may not have gotten her a car...not that I mind being her chauffeur,

I heard her saying her dream car was an all-black G wagon, so I immediately went in search of one, and I got the call last week that I can pick it up...

I was thinking of giving it for her birthday but it's almost the end of September and her birthday is December 8th but I don't want to wait that long to give it to her,

Why have the car sit and not be used for that long when she can use it now?

I see she fell asleep so I quietly place her in the car and put the seat belt on her, I kiss her cheek and close her door,

I put the directions into my car and drive to the bakery she wanted to check out,

She whimpers a little in her sleep which makes me chuckle, I grab her hand and lift it to my lips and place a gentle kiss on it,

At a stop light, I look over at her,

I can't believe I'm honestly her boyfriend...Me

That beautiful angel wanted me,

I still to this day think that I am going to wake up from a dream and be alone,

But somehow this isn't a dream, I have a beautiful girlfriend, I smile More than I have in the longest time and my life feels worth it,

It feels like everything was worth it in the end, me fighting through life, working day and night, the sleepless nights, the lonely weeks, the feeling of emptiness,

It was all worth it for the girl asleep in the passenger side of my car,

I do wish she could have met my sister...Avery would have loved Vanessa,

I take a deep breath and swallow down the bile rising in my throat,

I miss my sister so damn much, but I can't cry right now,

Not only am I driving, but its also a good day today,

I'm going to surprise my sunshine, were going to go to some stupid bakery And I am going to spend time with her,

Maybe I will go visit the cemetery tomorrow and get Avery some flowers,

After about 10 minutes we arrive at the bakery, I walk to Vanessa's side and open the door,

"Sunshine," I say gently as I undo the seat belt

She hums a little and shifts in her seat, I know she has insomnia and since she doesn't sleep the best at night she gets more tired at around 8 pm than she does when we go to sleep, and I would let her nap but were already at the bakery,

"We're at your stupid bakery, come on get up," I say in her ear

She whines "it's not stupid, and stop talking in my ear it makes me sleepier...and other things"

I chuckle,

"stop sounding sexy, shoo," she motions me away,

"I'm not doing anything," I say amusement filling my voice

She hums,

"Well then I guess we will come back here another time if you want to sleep, the desserts will have to wait" I sigh dramatically

"I'm awake!" She says getting up, eyes wide, and narrowing when she sees me smirk,

I grab her hand as we walk to the bakery,

Vanessa has a big smile on her face as we enter the bakery "oh it's so cute in here" she says

"Also just so you know I have a surprise for you when we leave," I say calmly when I see the text that the car is in the parking garage.

Her eyes shoot up from the treats in the window to me, she has her brows knit together with a cute little pout

"What kind of surprise?" She tilts her head to the side

Why is she so damn cute for?

"The kind of surprise that you get no details about," I say in her ear

"Fine whatever don't tell me, I didn't even want to know anyway" she crosses her arms and turns around, and leans on my chest

I try to hold in my smile while I bring her back flush against my chest,

After some quiet silence as we wait in line, she starts talking again "you're not going to tell me? Not even a little hint?" She says turning her head to look up at me

I smile a little and bend down to kiss her pout "don't worry it's a good surprise"

She sighs "guess that would be a no to the hint" she mumbles

"Vanessa! Hi" A woman says grinning

I look at her name tag and see the name 'Zara'

Enzo's wife.

"Hi Zara" Vanessa grins

"Your bakery is so cute" Vanessa beams looking around, forgetting all about questioning the surprise,

"Thank you, so what would you guys like to try?" Zara grins

"What's good here?" Vanessa asks, her eyes glancing at the display cases,

"Well our chocolate cake is really popular, our muffins, and recently the strawberry cheesecake has been selling like crazy"

I nod "we will just grab all three then," I say pulling my wallet out of my pocket,

"Alright, anything to drink?" Zara asks

"You want coffee?" I ask in Vanessa's ear

"Duh," she says with a slight laugh

"With the whipped cream shit and caramel?" I raise a brow

She pouts and playfully slaps my arm,

I chuckle "alright one medium americano with a splash of cream and sugar, and a large Carmel latte with whipped cream"

"Alright coming right up" Zara smiles

"Thank you" Vanessa smiles

When I don't say anything she steps on my foot 'ow' i mumble

"Thank you," I say with a frown directed at the girl grinning up at me in victory,

Zara smiles and we move to get to the desserts,

"Seriously, stepping on my foot?" I raise a brow

"Gosh I don't know what you mean, maybe a ghost stepped on your foot to remind you of your manners," she says smiling innocently

"Okay you little smart ass," I say pulling her on my lap as I sit on one of the chairs at a table

I feel her leaning into my touch and sighing which makes me smile,

We sit like that until our order is called just quietly appreciating each other's presence,

We get our drinks and food and sit at the bakery eating and trying the desserts and drinking our coffees for a bit while we talk, it mostly consists of Vanessa moaning with each bite of dessert, and that makes me frown and want to leave faster.

After we're done Vanessa goes and says goodbye to Zara and she tells Vanessa they should hang out soon,

"Did you hear that, she wants to hang out with me, I officially have a friend now" Vanessa says with a grin as we walk outside,

My heart breaks a little at the reality that she's getting happy over the simplicity of a friend...

She's the sweetest girl I have ever encountered, I don't understand how she doesn't have hundreds of friends,

We drive back home and I walk us to the elevators to the underground garage

"Why are we going there?" Vanessa asks with a frown

I smile and don't say anything,

"The surprise" I smirk

She's going to be so pissed I spent a lot of money on a car,

But who cares I want to give her everything she wants in life and if I have the money for things she needs...like a car then I'll buy it,

"What in the world is this surprise" she huffs

I shrug

And then after a few seconds, she gasps and puts a hand over her heart

"Are you pregnant?" She continues to gasp dramatically,

I throw my head back and laugh

"Your such a little idiot" I shake my head laughing pulling her to my side,

We both laugh and then were at the garage,

I grab her hand and lead her out of the elevators,

"So I did a thing..." I start saying slowly

"Yeah....what kind of thing?" She says raising a brow

"You know how you always have to walk to work and everywhere you want or go on the subway...which I don't like you doing alone..." I say

"Yeah...but you sometimes drive me" she shrugs

I hum "yeah and you know how you were talking to henry about cars and you said your dream car was an all-black g wagon?" I say

Her frown grows deeper "yes Why?"

"Don't be mad....this was technically supposed to be a birthday present, but I have no patience, plus it's getting colder outside and I don't want you walking everywhere, and I love driving you everywhere, but I also want you to have the freedom to go anywhere without me worrying about you on some creepy subway" I say pulling the keys out of my pocket

Her eyes go wide as she looks at the keys, at me, then back at the keys,

"You..." she says slowly, already shaking her head,

"Aaron...have you lost your mind!" She says wide-eyed

"You got me a car..." she speaks slowly

"Yes but think of it like this... a car is a useful thing that you need, so it's not like its a waste of money" I press my lips together after speaking

"Are you crazy Aaron? Why would you spend so much money, on me especially" she shakes her head, I can tell she's slowly freaking out,

"It's not much to me, and you're my girlfriend I want to spoil you" I shrug

"Take the keys sunshine," I say trying to put them in her hands,

She looks at the keys and backs away shaking her head,

"Nope, you're returning that immediately, you're insane, and shouldn't be spending so much money," she says backing up

"Vanessa...take the keys," I say fighting a smile,

She tries to run to the elevators but I lunge at her and throw her over my shoulder "you are not running away" I say chuckling

"Aaronnnnnn" she whines trying to wiggle free

I walk over to the car and open the driver's side and place her in it,

"Nice huh?" I smile

She looks at me with tears in her eyes and then loses the battle with ignoring the car and looks around and I see tears spilling down her cheeks,

"I can't accept this Aaron" she whispers

I lean close and cup her face wiping her tears "well too bad sunshine it's already yours"

She frowns "but this isn't fair...your birthday is April 15 which is so far, also how am I supposed to make up for this?"

I smile "I don't want anything but you"

Her frown deepens which looks cute more than anything,

"Well what if all I want is you too..." she says raising a brow

"Then you have me...plus a car" I grin loving how cute she is when mad,

"Aaron...this is too much I refuse to accept it, I'm ignoring you for a week" she crosses her arms over her chest and closes her eyes

"fine ignore me for a week, but the car is yours and I'm not returning it" I continue to smile as moments pass,

"Aaronnnnn" she whines getting impatient

"Yes, sunshine?" I ask, amusement lacing my voice

She doesn't say anything for a good minute

"This is too much, and I refuse to take it" she whispers with tears flowing,

"Come here," I say giving her my hand

She takes it and she gets out of the car, I immediately lift her and she wraps her legs around my waist and her arms around my neck,

I lean her against the car "can you please just accept my gift?" I say with a small smile looking deeply into her eyes,

She takes a deep breath "stop looking at me like that" she tries to look away but I hold her chin in place,

"Sunshine I honestly don't want to go through the process of returning it...it would make me very happy if you accepted it," I say against her lips

"You're not allowed to buy me anything ever again you big idiot" she sighs

"Okay...but we both know I'm not going to do that I like spoiling you so much" I kiss her pout

She pulls my face back down and deepens the kiss "thank you" she mumbles in between us kissing,

"I have another way for you to thank me," I say locking the car and walking to the elevators back to our place
