She kept talking, but outside, Nash kept slamming against the door. His entire side had gone numb from the impact, yet the operating room door remained firmly shut.

“David, if you don’t step in today, Caroline will hate you for the rest of her life,” Nash gritted out through clenched teeth. “I know you don’t want this child, because it’s not yours. But this hospital…, can this even be called a hospital?”

“If she undergoes surgery here, what if she haemorrhages? What if she gets an infection? What if it permanently damages her body? Have you even considered the consequences!”

David lifted his gaze, “Your fiancée is the one laying hands on my wife, and you’re blaming me?”

Nash’s voice turned hoarse from desperation. “Saving her is more important than arguing about who’s right or wrong!”

At that moment, Julia’s voice rang out from inside.

“Mr. Ellison, don’t worry. I won’t harm Mrs. Ellison!”

David’s gaze remained locked on the door.

“Nash is the one who made a terrible mistake. He refuses to see reason and still wants to save this child. So as his fiancée, I’m stepping in to clean up his mess. I only hope that Mr. Ellison won’t hold this against me afterward, I’ve done everything I can to correct Nash’s mistake.”

“I promise, Mrs. Ellison will be unharmed. She’ll walk out of here just fine. As for the child, a baby that shouldn’t exist cannot be allowed to stay. I’m doing this for the sake of your relationship with Mrs. Ellison, and for the future of Nash and me. Nash refuses to make a decision, but I can see clearly.”

“Julia!” Nash shouted. “What the hell are you saying!”

“I’m doing this for you! Nash, your career and your future cannot let this child ruin everything! If you want children, we can have our own. But you cannot have a child with Caroline! Don’t you understand!”

Nash Newton slammed his fist against the door, his voice hoarse with desperation. “Caroline’s child is not mine! It’s not mine!”

He kept shouting, his throat raw, his voice almost unrecognizable.

His fists pounded the door again and again. “Did you hear me? That child is not mine! I never touched Caroline! You’re mistaken! Everyone is mistaken! Even Caroline herself!”

Julia’s brows furrowed slightly. But her response was swift.

“You’re willing to lie just to make me let her go… Nash, it’s clear now. The one you love the most has always been Caroline, not me.”

“I’m not lying, the child isn’t mine, stop this before it’s too late!”

“Caroline admitted it herself, and you’re still trying to deny it!”

“Ms. Julia, don’t move,” the doctor warned. “Your flashlight isn’t aimed properly, I can’t see clearly.”
