Chapter 53

Mr.Billionaire Meets Ms.Clumsy

2 Months Later

"Last but not least, I would like to announce the new assistant editor," Taylor announced. "Pretty impressive work, you guys; I was disappointed with a certain someone who I have expected to see her work, but..." Taylor continues. "Anyways, everyone congratulates Savvanah, you are the new assistant editor." Everyone clapped.

Everyone congratulate Savvanah; Emilyn saw Taylor in the front gesturing to follow her. So, Emilyn follows her out of the meeting room and into Taylor's office.

"You know Emilyn I am disappointed that you didn't turn your article in," Taylor said as soon as Emilyn sat down on the chair in front of Taylor.

"What do you mean?" Emilyn asked, confused.

"Emilyn, you didn't turn in your assigned article."

"I didn't?" Emilyn scrunched her eyebrows. "No, no way." She shakes her head in disbelief.

"Look." Taylor turned the screen so that Emilyn can see. "These are the emails I've received for the assigned article." Taylor scrolls through her email.

"Stop at Savvanah's email," Emilyn said. Taylor stops at Savvanah's email and clicks on it. "That's weird; her email should have my article in it too. Unfortunately, there's only one folder, which is hers." Emilyn said to herself.

"What's wrong?" Taylor asked.

"Nothing." Emilyn covered her expression with a smile. "I'm sorry, I didn't send in my article. I probably forget to send it to you."

"I'm really disappointed Emilyn, I was looking forward to reading your article. That position would be yours." Taylor told her. "But there will always be next time."

"Yeah," She said softly. "I should go now," Emilyn stood from her seat and headed out of the office.

"Emilyn there you are," Andrew spotted me in front of Taylor's office. "We are going to have a celebratory dinner for Savvanah."

"Uhm...I'm sorry. I can't join you guys. Christopher has this special dinner reservation for tonight." Emilyn lied. "You guys go ahead."

"Oh, okay," Andrew said and left.

Emilyn walks to her desk; when she spotted Savvanah, she called her name. Savvanah turns around with a smile plaster on her face. "Did you send in my article with yours?" Emilyn asked.

"I did, why?" Savvanah asked innocently.

Emilyn scoff, "If you did, how come when Taylor showed me your email. There's only one folder which is yours." Emilyn crossed her arms in front of her. "Why did you do that? I thought we are friends."

"Friends?" Savvanah scoff. "You should say, fake friends."

"Savvanah why?" Emilyn asked, frowning.

"All this time, you are always been the one who gets everything. Andrew didn't notice me before you got here. We weren't even friends." Savvanah continues. "You got the guy, the famous, rich, handsome, millionaire Christopher Evans. When I found out that Taylor has this assignment, I begged her for it. But no, she gave it to you." Savvanah spat out.  "That person should be me." She points her thumb to her chest.

"If Taylor didn't favor you, that assignment will be mine and Christopher Evans would be mine." Savvanah voice grew louder.

"I didn't do that interview with Christopher Evans to make him fall for me," Emilyn told her. "If he doesn't like me as who I am, we wouldn't be together."

Savvanah scoffs, "Whatever, I'm over it. Now I got the position that you wanted, I feel great." Savvanah let out a small laugh. "Keep up the good work getting drinks for the team." Savvanah pushes past Emilyn shoulders as she walks by her.

Emilyn cannot believe that girl she called her friend is secretly her enemy. She slumped onto her chair and sigh.

"Angel, I'm home," Christopher shouted as he enters the front door. He looks around the living room, but she's not there. She is not even in the kitchen or their bedroom.

Christopher starts to get anxious; he quickly calls her on his phone, hoping that she would pick up. "Angel." He said when he heard her voice from the other side of the phone. "Where are you?"

"I'm at home," Emilyn said.

"Home? Where which area?" Christopher asked, checking the other rooms in the house.

"I want to be alone, don't find for me," Emilyn told him.

"Angel, why? What happened?" Christopher asked. "Please tell me, you are making me worry."

"I just want to be left alone, please." She begged.

"Alright," Christopher said and ended the call. Christopher can't help worrying about Emilyn; she is somewhere around the house, but he can't find her. "How is that possible? This is his house." He thought. Christopher knows every nook and cranny that is possible to hide, but he can't find her anywhere.

Christopher heads back to his room to shower, undo his tie, and throw it into the basket. After his shower, with a towel wrapped around his waist, he heads into his closet.

That's when he spotted something at the bottom of his closet, at the corner. He slides the hanger to the side and found the one person that has been on his mind since he came back home.

"I found you." Christopher crouched down in front of Emilyn. Emilyn looks up at Christopher with teary eyes. "Oh, Angel. What happened?" Christopher face soften and frown, "Do you want to talk about it?"

Emilyn played with her fingers and sigh, "Alright, but can you change first?" Emilyn gestured to his slightly wet naked torso with a towel covering his waist.

"Okay." He chuckles. "In the meantime, do you want to come out from the closet?" Emilyn thought for a while, but she rather not. She finds the space in Christopher's closet relatively comfortable. "Or you rather watch me change in front of you?" This got Emilyn's attention, and she scrambled out of the closet. Christopher laughed at the sight of his girlfriend rushing out of the closet.

Once he is all dressed up, he met with Emilyn sitting at the edge of the bed. "Alright, do you want to tell me what happen today?" He stands in front of her.

"Remember the assignment that I told you about, the assignment that Taylor will choose the next assistant editor from." Emilyn starts. Christopher nods. "You know Savvanah?"

"Is she the girl who sat behind you?" Christopher asked.

"Yeah, that's her. Remember this name," Emilyn told him. "As I was saying, the day to send in our assignment to Taylor, she told me that she can send it in for me with hers," Emilyn said. "At that time I was thinking, she so nice and I agree."

"And guess what, she didn't send in my assignment with hers. The only folder in her email is hers." Emilyn scoff. "The nerve of that woman and now she is the new assistant editor."

"Why didn't you tell Taylor, when you found out about it," Christopher asked.

"I don't want her hatred on me even more." Emilyn shakes her head. "She blames me for taking her assignment on you." She continues. "She says if Taylor didn't favor me more, she would have given the assignment to her instead of me. And that you would be hers, not me."

"That's absurd, we met before the interview and I think you are an interesting person the first time you bumped into me," Christopher said, tugging her hair behind her ear.

"So now, she gets to boss me around and she probably going to make me get drinks for the team again." Emilyn sigh.

"I'll have a talk with Taylor," Christopher said.

"No, don't." Emilyn shakes her head. "It might make things worse. Savvanah already hates me, if she found out you help me to take her position away. Imagine the hatred she will have for me." Emilyn told Christopher.

"But I can't let her bully you like that." Christopher crossed his arms.

"Rist, you got to let me fight my own battles. I can do this." Emilyn assured him. "I can do this, I'm a big girl."

Christopher let out a sigh, "Alright, but don't force yourself. If you can't handle her anymore, let me know."

"I know, don't worry," Emilyn assured him. "Now, have you had your dinner yet?" Christopher shook his head. "Alright," Emilyn clapped her hands together. "Let's go, I'm going to make you something delicious." She stood up from the bed and dragged Christopher by the hand out of the bedroom.
