ACT SIX SCENE ONE

FRIENDSHIP OR MORE

third person

perspective

A DAY passes by quickly. Asher leaned his head against the cold brick wall, listening to his favourite soundtrack with a can of soda in his hand. He wasn't sure whether he made the right decision of asking Sahar to be his companion, after all, he doesn't want to do something he regrets.

Someone pulls his earphones out.

"I knew you wouldn't give up your friendship with her." Jumin says, taking a seat right beside Asher. It was true, Asher wanted their friendship more than anything in the world. There was something about Sahar that made him feel comfortable, he didn't have to pretend who he was, he felt safe.

Asher places his earphones in his pockets. "As long as we're friends nothing matters." he mutters, standing up. Jumin watches as the platinum blonde walks away, a small smile appears on his face. He knew Asher liked Sahar but he's not willing to admit it.

"Idiot." Jumin mutters under his breath.

ASHER orders two cups of Luwak coffee. Jumin stood beside him with a irritated expression. It puzzled him how the boy cares about someone that isn't himself, was there something in Sahar that Jumin couldn't see? What makes Asher like Sahar so much?

"How long are you going to follow me?" Asher questions, moving past Jumin with his two steaming cups of Luwak coffee.

Jumin sighs. He wanted an answer. He wants to know what makes Sahar so special. Asher seems to show his undivided attention on her, it's as if something about her shines brighter than any human being in this world.

"Is that for me?"

Asher ignores Jumin. Setting the two cups down on the table he begins to surf through his phone. Jumin takes a seat next to him, his actions cause Asher to slam his phone down on the table.

"What's your deal? Can't you see I'm waiting for someone?" Asher exclaims, his stern expression causes Jumin to chuckle.

"There's always space for one more." Jumin responds.

"Forget this." Asher takes the two cups of coffee and walks out of the cafe, leaving Jumin to smile brightly. So Asher doesn't like other people being present when he's with Sahar. He likes to be alone with Sahar. This gives Jumin enough evidence to understand that Asher likes Sahar more than he claims.

After escaping Jumin, Asher takes a seat outside. Sahar told him that she'll be here soon, but she was taking her time. He rests his head on his palm, quietly waiting for the pretty brunette to appear.

"Asher!" Asher looks up to find Sahar. A smile appears on his face as he stands up. But that smile dissolved in seconds as he notices Luca standing right beside her.

"I hope you don't mind me joining." Luca says, rubbing the back of his neck nervously. He didn't mean to intrude, Sahar told him that Asher would appreciate more company — so he agreed. His expression falls as he notices two cups of coffee, so Asher had no idea that he was coming. Luca glances at Sahar; who simply sat in front of Asher, her hands gestured him to sit right beside her.

Luca takes the seat. He notices Asher's lack of expression. This is going to be a long day, Luca thought to himself as he glanced up at the sky.

"So, I heard that there's going to be a festival and the both of you are going to be hosts." Sahar says, taking a sip on her coffee. Asher glances at Luca hesitantly, he felt bad. He knows how much Luca likes Sahar and here he was, meeting up with the girl he likes.

"Yeah, it happens every year." Luca says, his gaze was still up at the sky. "It's the only year where people have the opportunity to take pictures with us." his words cause Sahar to feel uneasy. Take pictures? She frowns glancing at Asher, Does that mean Asher would be taking pictures with several girls?

She shakes her head. What's her deal? Why does she care about Asher interacting with girls?

Asher watches Sahar, she seemed conflicted. "I still find it weird, some people smell too much like flowers, I have allergies so I find it annoying." he says, nonchalantly glancing through his phone.

Sahar looks at him in horror. She smells like flowers. Her expression causes Luca to face palm, she was so obvious with her feelings for Asher.

"Flowers smell nice, some people know how to pull it off." Luca says purposely, Asher glances at him only to realise his mistake immediately. He notices Sahar sulking as she drank her coffee.

"I guess." Asher says.

"I just realised, I don't have any pictures with the both of you; we've been friends for quite a while." Sahar frowns. Luca glances at Asher once again, he catches the platinum blonde smiling at Sahar's expression. It must be nice to share a mutual connection with someone. The way Sahar looks at Asher and the way Asher looks at Sahar never fails to make Luca feel lonely.

"I don't really take pictures. Asher takes a lot." Luca says, his eyes fall on Sahar. Her gaze was focused on Asher. When she spoke, everything seemed to be directed to Asher. It's as if Luca didn't exist and that it was only the two of them on the table. Why did she invite him? If she was going to do this, why did she have to bring him?

"If you checked out my social media you'd be surprised." Asher says, causing Sahar to laugh.

"By your ugly face." she snorts.

"As if, people like me don't exist." Asher retorts, glancing at his appearance on his phone.

"You must love your face." Sahar murmurs. Luca watches as she admires Asher's face. Doesn't she realise that she likes him? It makes no sense how she pretends to act like she has no feelings for him.

"I've got to go. I have something to do." Luca says. It was a lie. He had nothing to do. He felt left out here, he didn't want to feel lonely. It was clear that he was being a third wheel, this was initially supposed to be just Asher and Sahar.

Sahar finally looks at him. "No! You can't go, it would be boring without you." her words cause Luca to frown. As if he was a part of the conversation, it was just him speaking and Sahar glancing at Asher the whole time. He shakes the negativity out of his head, he shouldn't think about Sahar in a bad way. It makes him sound rude. Luca wants to be anything but rude.

"She's right. You shouldn't leave." Asher says. Luca sighs. They weren't making anything better.

"I have something to do. I'll see you guys later." Luca says, turning away. Asher watches as his friend walks off with a sad expression. He knew that Luca didn't feel included in the conversation, he knew that Sahar was focusing on him. But Asher couldn't control the way Sahar acted. He could only control what he could do.

And what he could do was make Luca feel better.

"Luca! Wait!" Asher exclaims, running after him. Luca stops, he takes a deep breath and exhales before turning around to face the platinum blonde.

"What?"

"Sahar wants you here, I'm sorry it seemed like she didn't but I know she really does want to hang out with you." Asher says, his words cause Luca to purse his lips.

"It's just that the whole conversation she kept looking at you and talking to you. It felt like I was intruding in your conversation, I'm sorry that I interrupted the both of you, it wasn't my intention. Have fun Asher, I really don't want to make things awkward for you." Luca smiles, patting Asher on the shoulder before turning away.

"It was never supposed to be like this." Asher says.

"How else is it supposed to be like? Asher you need to think about yourself before you think about me. You have feelings too, you're human too." Luca's words cause Asher to freeze. Think about himself? Those were the same words he told Sahar. To think about herself, to love herself.

"What about you?"

"Me? I'll be rooting for you, the both of you seem like a good match." Luca says, giving Asher one last smile before walking off.
