"Right, right, right."
Christine nodded enthusiastically, her expression like a bobbing chicken. "You really know me best."
Jane patted her shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, there's no way you're getting that marriage certificate."
Christine asked, "How come?"
Jane replied, "With Dailey's father's influence, just a word from him and no one at city hall would dare register you in the system."
"That's true."
Christine realized her earlier anger had clouded her judgment.
Now, she wasn't worried at all.
Merritt also breathed a sigh of relief, though he still apologized to Christine.
Christine waved it off. "Let's not dwell on it."
However, she did apologize to Helena. "Sorry if we disturbed you."
Helena smiled warmly. "I've lived long enough not to be startled by such things. Let me make up a bed for you. I have a room with a big enough bed for a few of you to share, so you can chat comfortably."
Christine went to help her.
Meanwhile, Merritt poured tea for Jane and Bella and brought some snacks. He also steamed an egg custard for Mira before heading to the room across the hall.
Jane and Bella exchanged a knowing glance.
When Christine returned, they all smiled at her.
Christine sipped her tea, puzzled. "What's that look for?"
Bella asked, "So, are we just forgetting about the whole Riverside Hotel incident?"
Christine glanced at Jane. "Didn't Jane tell you about the bet?"
"She did," Bella replied. "But isn't letting it go after just one bet a bit hasty?"
"He's a good kid," Christine said, nodding. "Despite his hardships, he hasn't gone astray. The only mistake he made was with my situation."
"But he did it for me."
"Dailey still has some unresolved feelings for Nelly. If I insisted on staying with Dailey, it would always bother me."
"However, after deciding to break up, I realized Merritt wasn't wrong."
Bella nodded in understanding and asked, "Jane mentioned you don't want to know about the wedding plans?"
"I don't need Nelly as a scapegoat, but if that's what he wants, I can't stop him."
"I just think that once we're completely apart, I won't need a scapegoat, and his enemies won't target me."
The wedding never happened.
But Bella decided it wasn't worth mentioning, focusing instead on feeding Mira her egg custard.
While this side enjoyed a cozy, convivial atmosphere, the mood elsewhere was quite different.
Raleigh, not filming, lived a regular life.
Besides, young people have their own ways of dealing with matters.
Love, particularly, is something outsiders shouldn't meddle in too much.
As Bella instructed, he brought the person to the hotel and then went to sleep.
Dailey and Gregory entered a room together.
Dailey lit a cigarette and sat on the couch by the floor-to-ceiling window.
Gregory opened a bottle of wine, pouring a glass for himself and one for Dailey.

Gregory raised his glass to his lips, amused. "Showing me this side of you won't change anything."
Dailey ignored him, gazing out at the night sky, each drag of his cigarette filled with brooding thoughts.
