Chapter 389
I Am The Luna
Chapter 0389
âWell, thatâs not my job, but this one is. Weâll contact you if we need to ask anything further. Leave your
address please,â he says.
Zade takes the paper and I know for a fact he wonât be leaving the correct.
address, and I donât want him to either. I didnât like this officer at all. Thereâs just something off about
him.
Heâs meant to be questioning someone who could have died, instead, heâs unbothered and acting
almost bored.
My phone pings and I glance at it.
Itâs Atticus. Heâs en route to our place. We needed to get moving.
âWell, Mr Daniels, thanks for your input, too,â the officer says to Zade, who nods before taking my
hand. The officer watches us intently as we take our leave.
âI didnât like him,â Zade says as we wait for a cab.
Itâs a little chilly now and despite the jacket Iâm wearing, I can feel the cold.
âMe neither.â
âYouâre cute when your claws come out,â he teases and I smile, shivering slightly. âCold? Little Mate?â
âNot really⦠I canât believe that took so long⦠how are you feeling?â I ask as Zade removes his leather
jacket and places it around my shoulders.
âIâm good.â
My heart skips a beat as he readjusts his hood covering his face before placing his arm around my
shoulders loosely.
Weâre only catching a ride to where his motorbike is parked a few streets away.
Itâs been a long day and Iâm ready for it to end, but that isnât going to happen since Atticus is visiting.
âLetâs grab some food on the way back. Atticus probably hasnât eaten eitherâ I suggest.
âSure,â he agrees as he opens the cab door and gets in before sliding over.
I cock a brow, finding that a little weird. I donât comment on it as he directs the driver before placing a
hand on my knee. Heâs looking out of the window, and we remain silent until we get to our destination.
A spot that Zade chose a little downi
from where his bike is parked. I spot the Asian food restaurant across the road.
âOh perfect! We can order from there,â I say as the cab driver slows down.
The cab driver rings up our fare and Zade pays with cash before he leans over and
opens my me, only when both my legs are out, does he get out slamming
Goor for the door shut and swiftly strides around the cab to me?
âWhy are you acting weird?â I cock a brow once heâs shut the door.
âIf weâre going in a cab⦠Iâm always going to be the first one in and you will be the first one out. Safety,
Little Mate. Who knows if the driver is trustworthy?â
âYouâre careful, but what if something happens to me by getting out first?â I ask with amusement,
wrapping my arms around his waist. He holds me for a moment, cocking a brow.
âI have thought of that. I assess the area a little, but itâs the better option.â
âIf you say so,â I respond with a smile as we cross the road and enter the shop.
âLetâs get the grilled platter deal,â I say.
âSure,â Zade answers before we place our order and I ask what he wants. He doesnât seem bothered,
so I end up ordering a few sides before we pay and step aside to wait for our order to be packed.
âDoctor Scott?â I freeze as I recognise the voice of one of the nurses from my department.
âOh, hello Nancy,â I reply, brushing my hair back. I was supposed to be sick today
âWhat are you doing here? Doctor Owen said you were sick.â
âI was, but then my car got into an accident, so I had to go to the station,â I respond. I can see Zade
has his head turned away, his hood still up, hiding half his face.
âAnd whoâs that?â Nancy whispers.
âMy boyfriend,â I reply without hesitation.
âBoyfriend?â she looks surprised, and I smile. âHe⦠wow, I never knew you liked the bad boy type. I
guess Doctor Owen will be disappointed. I thought you agreed to be his date for the charity ball?â
Really, Nancy?
Even though Zade doesnât react, I know heâs hearing it all. âI said Iâll have a
think. Excuse me, Nancy, I got to go,â I say, turning my back on her.

âSnob,â she mutters so quietly that a human wouldnât have heard, but I will be the better person and
walk away, feeling her eyes on us. We collect our bags and Zade pays, although I want to, but he
doesnât let me.
I resist rolling my eyes as Zadeâs arm snakes around my neck from behind, placing a kiss on the side
of my head before we head out.
I wonder if I should mention the Cassian thing, but if I did, Iâd be the one making it into a bigger deal
than it is, right?
Deciding against it, we head to his bike and he hooks the food bags onto the handle before getting on
and I climb on behind him as we drive home, my stomach a pit of nerves playing out all possible
reactions from Atticus⦠Goddess help me.
