Chapter 48
The Cure // Im Nayeon x Reader
About three weeks have passed since the trial. Nayeon's mother isn't doing very well so Nayeon has been spending most of her time taking care of her mother. Unfortunately she can't be with her mother all the time since she's also the CEO of their company. Now that Mr. Im is in jail, his shares went automatically to Nayeon meaning that she's not only the CEO but also a major shareholder of the company.
"Ms. Im?" Jeongyeon knocked on her door.
"What is it Jeongyeon?" Nayeon and Jeongyeon are not okay but they still need to work with each other. Nayeon was actually thinking about firing her but now that Jin and her father are gone, Jeongyeon could be helpful so she decided not to.
"The director send you these." She handed Nayeon some papers.
"Thank you."
"You're welcome." Jeongyeon said and was about to walk away. She feels sad that her best friend ignores her like this but then again she did backstab her so Nayeon has the right to be mad.
"Wait, Jeongyeon!" Nayeon yelled and the manager turned around to face her.
"Yes?"
"Can I ask you something?"
"Of course." Jeongyeon replied and went closer.
"Sit down please." Nayeon gestured and Jeongyeon did as she was told. What's going on?
"You worked with my dad and Jin closely so I'm sure you know what their plans were. I know my dad was trying to get his shares back from Y/N before he went to jail. Do you know something about that?"
"I don't know if I should tell you, Nayeon-ssi."
"Please Jeongyeon. I'm well aware that you know everything that happened. I'm 100% sure that you know what Y/N did to me. The only thing I want right now is to get those shares from her, which is the same thing that my dad wanted. We're on the same side now so please help me out. You're the only one that can help me." Nayeon said the last sentence weakly. She can't trust anyone anymore since all the people that are close to her have backstabbed her. She doesn't have any friends or any family members that she can rely on. That's why she was very attached to Y/N and her family because she felt like she could rely on them but guess that wasn't the case after all.
"Aren't you mad at me anymore?"
"I still am, Jeongyeon. But you were right about her. You warned me and I didn't listen."
"I'll help you get those shares back." Jeongyeon said which made Nayeon smile weakly.
"We're going to need a plan, don't we?" Nayeon asked and Jeongyeon nodded. The two stood up and went to the table trying to figure out what to do.
"How am I even going to convince her? Isn't there something else that I can do?" Nayeon asked in frustration. She knows that Y/N won't give her the shares that easily.
"You should talk to her first. If we don't succeed then we'll have to come up with something else."
"What was my dad's plan?"
"He was threatening her." Jeongyeon revealed which made Nayeon raise her eyebrows.
"With what?" Does Y/N have something that Nayeon doesn't know about?
"With you."
"W-what? What do you mean?"
"He has pictures of you and Y/N kissing. He told Y/N that he would release them if she doesn't sell the shares." The manager explained and Nayeon's eyes widened.
"When the hell did this happen? Since when does he even have those pictures?"
"He has them for a while now." This means that Y/N also has known this for a while but she just kept it from Nayeon for whatever reason.
"Did it work?"
"We thought it was working. She tricked us and asked Mr. Im to give her two weeks before selling them but in those two weeks all of this happened so it was never in her plan to sell them. She thought all of this through beforehand."
"I keep finding out more things that she hid from me." Nayeon looked down in sadness. How much was Y/N actually hiding? Why didn't she tell her about this?
"Are you okay?" Jeongyeon touched the CEO's arm. Nayeon looked at her and shook her head. She's not okay and she won't be for a while. She never would've thought that seeing her father and brother go to jail would have affected her this much. She should be relieved that they're out of sight now, but she's not. Mostly because she feels bad for her mother. The worst thing of all is, she can't get the woman that she loves out of her head. She hasn't seen her for three weeks but Y/N is in her mind 24/7. She misses Y/N a lot but at the same time she never wants to see her again.
"You know it's normal to be sad. Don't be too hard on yourself."
"Why does everyone I care about hurt me, Jeongyeon? What did I do to deserve all of this?" Nayeon is starting to tear up.
"Hey, you don't deserve any of this, okay? She's just an asshole that used you." Jeongyeon went closer to her.
"But you also did it, Jeongyeon. Just like everyone else, you also did it! Do people just enjoy hurting me? Do they like to see me like this?" Nayeon started to cry.
"Of course not. I'm so sorry." Jeongyeon pulled her into a hug and Nayeon cried on her shoulder.
"I was stupid and I admit I did it for money. I needed the money badly so I betrayed you but that doesn't mean that I don't care about you or that you deserve this. You're precious unnie. You have such a good heart and people take advantage of that." She knows it well because she did the same thing. She took advantage of Nayeon's naiveness.
"Then that's it. I won't be so naive  anymore. I'm sick of everyone using me and hurting me. That stupid Nayeon will be gone from now on. No one, absolutely no one, can hurt me again." Nayeon pulled away form the hug and wiped her tears.
-----------------------------------
Nayeon is on her way to Chou Holdings right now. She doesn't want to see Y/N but she needs to get those shares back. As long as Y/N has those shares she'll have too much power in ImTech and Nayeon doesn't want that. Y/N is a smart woman and she knows what she's doing. Those shares can help her to take over or even destroy ImTech. Once Y/N does that, Nayeon and her mother will end up on the streets. So she needs to do everything she can to prevent that from happening.
"I'm here to see Chou Y/N." The secretary got quite worried by seeing Nayeon. Everyone knows what happened between Chou Y/N and the Im family so seeing Nayeon in Chou Holdings is a bit of a surprise.
"Let me call her to tell her that you're here." The girl said and called Y/N. Nayeon used to walk in and out of Y/N's office whenever she wanted. Times change don't they?
"You can go in." The girl told her and Nayeon went in. Y/N immediately stood up when she saw Nayeon. She wasn't expecting to see Nayeon again so soon, but here she is.
"You look surprised to see me." Nayeon said when Y/N just froze on her spot by seeing her. Y/N's heart just breaks at the sight of her ex-girlfriend. She doesn't know how she's supposed to react.
"Euhm sit please." Y/N gestured to the seat in front of her and Nayeon sighed as she sat down. Y/N kept looking at Nayeon while Nayeon looked everywhere expect at Y/N. She's feeling a bit uncomfortable being here in Chou Holdings.
"Dahyun-ah?" Y/N suddenly called her assistant using the phone on her desk. "Can you bring us two cups of coffee? One with extra milk." Nayeon wanted to smile upon hearing that. Y/N knows that Nayeon likes her coffee with extra milk. Guess Y/N payed attention to some things during their relationship after all.
"What brings you here?"Â Y/N is curious about why Nayeon is here. Nayeon isn't the type of girl to run back to her ex so something else must be going on.
"I'm not going to make it long. I'm here to propose you a deal."
"A deal?" Y/N raised her eyebrows. This brings some flashbacks to when the two first met, when Nayeon wanted to make Y/N her investor.
"I'm not here for personal reasons but for business purposes only. You're a major shareholder of our company so I hope you can put personal things aside when we're talking about business."
"Yeah, of course."Â Y/N said weakly. She was kinda hoping that Nayeon would want to talk about them, but turns out she's here for business. "So what's the deal?"
"I want you to sell your shares to me."Â Y/N chuckled internally hearing that. She should have seen this coming. "I'll pay whatever it takes."
"Why do you want them?"
"I think you know very well why I want them. Besides didn't you tell me that you would give all your shares to me once I become the CEO?"
"I did tell you that, you're right."Â Y/N sighed. She did tell her that but the circumstances are different now.
"So?" Nayeon raised her eyebrows waiting for an answer.
"You really don't trust me anymore do you? You really think that I want to take over ImTech?"
"I don't know what you want Y/N, but I already told you. I won't let you take ImTech away from me."
"I'm sorry, I can't sell you my shares."Â Y/N rejected her offer.
"What? Why? Is the money not enough? Do you want more? If you want you can have the whole Ray area project. You'll gain a lot from it. You're a big investor of it anyways so I'll give you that in exchange for your shares." Nayeon tried to convince.
"I don't want money. Whatever you give me, I won't sell you my shares."
"You realize that this confirms what I'm thinking that you're gonna do, right?" Nayeon is getting annoyed. Why won't she sell her shares if she's not planning to do anything with ImTech?
"Do you really think that I would make you end up on the streets? Yes, I hurt you but I still care about you. I wouldn't want anything bad to happen to you."
"Then why are you not selling them to me?!" Nayeon yelled.
"I have my reasons."Â Y/N can't tell her because Nayeon will just freak out if she does.
"I can't believe you, Y/N. This is the least you could do for me after hurting me."
"I'm doing this to protect you. It's not safe for you to have so many shares."Â Y/N admitted and Nayeon started to laugh.
"To protect me? The only one you should protect me from is yourself."
"You don't get it and I don't think you ever will."
"Well, maybe if you tell me I would understand." Nayeon really wants to hear Y/N's reasoning behind this. Let's see what kind of bullshit she comes up with this time.
"You're a new CEO. You're not that experienced yet. As a big company you have a lot of enemies."
"You mean you?" Nayeon interrupted her. Y/N feels sad that Nayeon sees her as an enemy now.
"No not me. I am not and never will be your enemy. Your brother and your dad's enemy yes. But yours never."Â Y/N looked into Nayeon's eyes. "As I was saying you have a lot of enemies and people take advantage of young CEO's due to lack of experience. You could end up in big trouble."
"What does my shares have to do about this?"
"The more shares you have, the easier it would be for an enemy to take you down."
"That's exactly why I want those shares. They're in the hands of an enemy." Nayeon glared.
"So you see me as your enemy?"Â Y/N asked but Nayeon didn't answer and looked away.
"You are a young CEO yourself and you have all your shares. I don't see someone trying to take you down." Nayeon spoke up.
"I actually didn't have any shares for like a year when I became the CEO. My dad didn't give them to me immediately. He gave me half of his shares when he saw that I was doing well, which was after like a year."Â Y/N explained. "Even if you don't want it and even if you see me as your enemy, I won't stop protecting you."
"Stop Y/N. I don't need your protection. You lost the right to protect me when you did all those things behind my back. We're over, get that in your head. I might look like an easy girl but I'm not. I won't fall for your games again. You didn't help me even one bit. It was a mistake coming here, I should go now." Nayeon stood up and was about to leave but Y/N stopped her by blocking her way.
"Try to see it from my perspective, Nayeon-ah. Do you think what I went through is easy? Do you think I wanted this? Wouldn't you be mad at the killers if you were in my place? Wouldn't you have wanted revenge? You saw it yourself in what kind of condition I was when I found out who my birth mother is. Would you have been fine knowing that you're the reason for the death of your birth mother?"Â Y/N asked weakly and Nayeon kept quiet. Of course she wouldn't have been fine but that's still no excuse for doing the things that Y/N did.
"You're not going to say anything?"Â Y/N asked when she saw that Nayeon was not planning to give an answer.
"Nayeon-ah, please let's talk. Let me explain everything to you. I never ever lied about my feelings for you and I get that you're hurt and upset with me but please try to understand me. I didn't even know you when I made those plans, I never would have done it if I knew you." Nayeon looked into Y/N's eyes for a bit and she can see the sadness behind them. Y/N is looking very serious right now and her words sound sincere which made Nayeon almost give in. But then she remembered what Jeongyeon said. She can't be naive and let Y/N back in. She doesn't want to get more hurt than she already is.
"We have nothing to talk about. I'm leaving." Nayeon tried to walk away but Y/N stopped her once again. She can't let Nayeon go so easily.
"Please don't give up on us. I know you still love me and I love you, Nayeon-ah. Let's just fight for us."
"I didn't give up on us, Y/N. You did the moment you decided to use me."
"Please, let's just talk."Â Y/N begged.
"I have nothing to say. We're over Y/N, please accept that. You and I just won't work after this." Nayeon said in a weak voice and left the office. She's really keeping all her tears in right now. Is she making the wrong choice by letting Y/N go? She loves Y/N a lot, but she doesn't trust her at all. Even if she forgives her, their relationship will never be the same because it will take a very long time for her to trust Y/N again.
----------------------------
"Y/N? You're spacing out." Mrs. Chou noticed while they were having dinner.
"Oh yeah, I'm sorry."Â Y/N shook her head and continued to eat.
"Did something happen?" Her father asked. Y/N has been like this ever since the break up but today she seems to be even more out of it.
"Nayeon came to the company today."
"What? Why?" Tzuyu asked.
"She wants to buy my shares but I refused."
"Why? I mean why do you want those shares?" Chaeyoung questioned.
"To protect her. It's obvious that her father is making her do this. Nayeon is so angry with me that she's siding with him now but that man is just using her. The moment Jin gets out of prison he'll take over everything."
"Unnie, that's 15 years from now on." Tzuyu reminded her.
"It doesn't matter Tzuyu-yah. Besides I don't think they'll let Nayeon be a CEO for 15 years. I know Mr. Im. He's definitely planning something right now. Believe me when I say that he doesn't want Nayeon to be the CEO. He'd rather have someone else be it." Y/N is not sure, but she has a feeling that Mr. Im is planning to make one of his men the CEO. That's what she means by protecting Nayeon. As long as Y/N has some shares in that company she can prevent them from changing the CEO.
"Y/N, don't you want her back? I mean I hate to say this but ever since you two broke up, you don't look happy." Mrs. Chou asked.
"I do want her back but she doesn't even want to talk to me."
"Maybe you should just accept that you two are over. The trust is broken, unnie. It won't be easy to fix it. Besides you could fall in love with someone else. She's not the only girl walking around." Tzuyu told her.
"I don't think I will Tzuyu-yah. I've never loved anyone in my life before. She's the first one and I think she'll be the last one as well."Â Y/N looked down. Why is the universe so against her being in love? She fell in love for the first time in 25 years and that had to be with the daughter of her enemy.
"Do you have regrets?" Chaeyoung asked.
"No, I don't. I do wish I handled things differently but I don't have any regrets. Mr. Im and Jin are in prison, the place they deserve to be and if I hadn't done all of this I never would've met Nayeon. After all this plan made me get to know her and fall for her, so no I don't regret things."Â Y/N answered. If this plan meant meeting Nayeon, then she would have done it all over again because meeting Nayeon is one of the best things that has ever happened to her.
----------------------------------
"What the fuck are you doing here?" Nayeon furrowed her eyebrows when she walked into her office and saw Jeongyeon talking with Jinyoung, Jin's best friend.
"I was just talking to our marketing manager here." He smiled.
"Why here? Can't you talk somewhere else?"
"I'm actually here to see you, Nayeon-ah." He informed.
"I'll leave you two alone." Jeongyeon said and walked out of the room.
"You seem curious on why I'm here. Well, let me explain it to you. Your dad sent me here."
"My dad?" Nayeon raised her eyebrows.
"Yes, your dad. He thought that you might be having a hard time so I'm here to help you out."
"I don't need your help." Nayeon said harshly.
"Nayeon-ah, why are you always like this? You were like this when you were a kid as well. Very very stubborn and straight up rude." Jinyoung and Jin have been friends ever since they were kids so he knows Nayeon pretty well.
"That makes two of us, Jinyoung-ssi."
"Look, I wouldn't have come here if your dad didn't ask me a favour. I've been working closely with your father and Jin so I basically know everything. I could help you out a lot you know? After all we're on the same side here." He approached her.
"What do you know?" Nayeon asked in curiosity.
"Well, I know that you're trying to get Chou Y/N's shares. And according to Jeongyeon you went to talk to her today. So how did it go?"
"She rejected."
"As expected from Chou Y/N. Ugh I really hate that girl." He shook his head and hearing that made Nayeon mad. "Oops, sorry. I heard you two were close before she backstabbed you." He laughed which made Nayeon even more mad. The way he talks is just annoying itself.
"Luckily, I'm here to help you get those shares back."
"Why would you do that?" Nayeon questioned.
"Because your dad and brother asked me for a favour. And I thought that maybe we could continue from where we left of?" He went closer to Nayeon touching her arm.
"Fuck off, Jinyoung." She pushed him away.
"Where's the Nayeon that was head over heels for me when we were teenagers?" Yes, it's true. Nayeon had a huge crush on her brother's best friend when they were teenagers.
"I was a teenager back then besides I didn't know that you were a jerk."
"But you still dated me. I never liked the fact that you broke up with me so suddenly though."
"You should've thought about that before cheating on me." She hates to even be reminded of it. He was Nayeon's first boyfriend and he cheated on her with one of her good friends.
"After all these years your brother and dad still have no idea about what we were doing."
"Are you here to help me out or to remind me of our past? If it's the second one, then just fucking leave. I don't have time for this."
"Okay, okay it seems like there are no left over feelings. It's pretty unfortunate but I understand." He shook his head while Nayeon glared at him. He cheated on her yet he has the guts to talk like this?
"Your dad actually has a plan. He predicted that Chou Y/N would reject your offer so he came up with something. You should go talk to him tomorrow." The guy told her and Nayeon nodded.
"I should leave now. It was nice seeing you again, Nayeon-ah." He smiled and left the office. It's been about 6 years since they broke up but Nayeon still hates him for breaking her heart.

A/N: Updateee. What do you think Mr. Im's plan will be? It's surely a cruel one. Next chapter will be a roller coaster so hold on tight hehehehe. Please comment and vote!!
