Chapter 1309:
âKellan, Iâm your father. Even if I havenât done much for you, Iâve worked hard all these years, havenât I? When your mother passed away, I helped you manage the shares. You would have been tricked if it werenât for me. And yet, youâre still willing to send me to prison?â
When a predator found itself at a disadvantage, it would instinctively feign weakness, hoping to stir pity in others. But Kellan wasnât one to be manipulated.
âDonât you find it ridiculous that youâre saying all of this?â Kellanâs eyes narrowed.
Brook had always been a bully, exploiting his power over others. Now, without his leverage, he was no better than an ant.
âItâs not me arresting you, Brook. Itâs the law and justice.â
âYou!â Brookâs face twisted with rage.
As Kellan remained unyielding, Brook cursed him furiously.
âYouâll regret this, Kellan! Youâre sending your own father to prison. God will punish you! Just you wait!â
As his words grew more venomous, the investigator swiftly moved to escort him away.
âMr. Lloyd, Ms. Clarke, thank you for providing the evidence.â The investigator tucked the arrest warrant away.
The investigator admired their choice to side with justice over family ties.
âWeâll be taking Brook with us. If everything goes according to plan, heâll be serving at least thirty years.â
Kellan hummed in acknowledgement, his voice low. Despite everything, he didnât feel the joy of victory.
It was more like a quiet sense of peace. It felt like he had been waiting for this moment for years. He was no longer the one who would give in when threatened and manipulated by his father.

âLetâs go home.â
Allison lifted her gaze and slipped her hand into his.
âKinslee must miss us a lot.â
Kellan tightened his grip on her hand.
âOkay, letâs go home.â
He had never felt this calm before.
After packing their things, Allison and Kellan set off to visit Kinslee and Lorna.
Floyd, having heard that they had returned, hurried to the Lloyd family estate.
âYouâre finally back.â He smirked playfully. âI heard you caused quite a stir in Vrining.â
Though his smile remained, there was a hidden bitterness beneath it. He was unaware of the whole story from beginning to end. It seemed that in Allisonâs heart, he wasnât as important as he had thought.
But Floyd wasnât as stubborn as Gordon. Despite having pursued Allison for years and still holding on to some feelings for her, he had always maintained a respectful distance. He knew that the past, the time they spent in Leswington, was gone. Allison had someone new in her life now.
âYouâre exaggerating,â Allison responded with a lighthearted smile. âHow are Kinslee and Lorna?â
âTheyâre doing much better. Donât worry, Iâm here to make sure nothing goes wrong.â
Floyd spoke confidently, though his attention was diverted when he noticed the sparkling ring on Allisonâs finger.
