Chapter 941:
âYou two talk. Iâll find Ferdinand,â he said.
Almost on cue, Ferdinand sauntered over, his grin wide. âGood thing Iâm here,â he quipped. âOtherwise, youâd look like a lost puppy trailing behind them.â
Kellan shot him a flat look. âDonât act like youâre here out of concern for me. We both know youâre tagging along to stick close to Miss Green.â
Ferdinand immediately retorted, his voice rising in mock protest. âIâd risk life and limb for my dear friend! How could you suggest otherwise? Iâm not someone who takes love more seriously than friendship.â
Rebecca, who had caught the tail end of the exchange, spun around, fixing Ferdinand with an incredulous glare.
âYouâve got some nerve, Ferdinand, spinning tall tales without even blinking! Risk everything for friendship? Give me a break! Iâm the one who found the arrival gate and checked the flight times. What exactly did you contribute?â
âI carried your bags and bought snacks so you could do your job more efficiently.â
Rebeccaâs jaw dropped.
Their bickering continued as Allison watched them, a soft smile tugging at her lips. Their noisy exchange brought a soothing sense of normalcy, as though she had stumbled back into the warmth of home.

Before long, they reached the parking lot.
Ferdinand turned to Allison. âMiss Clarke, you and Mr. Lloyd should head off. Rebecca and I have to dash to the suburbs. Our companies saddled us with a joint project thatâs on a tight deadline.â
The truth was, their schedules had been jam-packed, but they had both made time to greet Allison and Kellan. Seeing the pair safe and sound lifted a weight off their shoulders.
Rebeccaâs gaze softened as she clasped Allisonâs hands. âPromise me youâll visit more often, okay? If it werenât for my dadâs obsession with partnering with Ferdinandâs company, Iâd have more time to breathe!â
It was even putting a damper on her efforts to have fun with gigolos!
Allison chuckled. âAlright, Rebecca. Weâll head back now. You two⦠enjoy your collaboration.â
She had a feeling that beneath their constant bickering, Rebecca and Ferdinandâs feelings for each other were evolving. They could deny it all they wanted, but their actions spoke louder than words.
As Rebecca and Ferdinand walked away, Kellan leaned in and said, âThat so-called collaboration project? Itâs definitely a matchmaking scheme by their families.â
Allison nodded knowingly. âI was worried at first, but it seems theyâre managing just fine.â
After all, Rebecca and Ferdinand were both fiercely independent. If either of them truly didnât want the match, no amount of meddling could force it.
Yet here they were, proving through their actions what their words refused to admit.
Kellan reached for Allisonâs hand. âLetâs go home.â
