Chapter 208
When She Stops Playing Nice
Chapter 208
âAlright, you both can leave now,â Gina said.
Gabriel remained silent while Michael followed suit.
Glancing at the time, Gabriel spoke, âGina, thereâs still some business at the office. Iâll swing by later once itâs wrapped up.â
âSure,â Gina nodded.
Gabriel and Michael left the hospital room one after the other, leaving Gina feeling weary as she drifted off to sleep.
Olivia left Prover Hospital, her heart pounding with fear. Her hand trembled as she took out her phone, nearly causing her to drop it. She needed to figure out her next move.
Gina realized the poison might have been procured for her by someone else. If she found out it was Mason, everything would be over.
Olivia thought, I lacked confidence in keeping Mason from revealing her involvement. I needed to find a way to silence him⦠Should I silence him permanently? I felt uneasy. Silencing him didnât seem like a foolproof solution. Perhaps only death could truly seal his lips⦠Was I contemplating ending Masonâs life? I didnât want to bear the weight of taking a life, especially before facing the inevitable perils of the underworld. I couldnât risk paying with my life for Masonâs demise. Moreover, Andy had divulged details about the blond man to Gina.
Oliviaâs mind felt like a whirlwind of confusion. There were too many complexities to untangle.
She focused on calming herself down and pondered her next move. Eventually, she resolved to contact the blond man. Messaging the number he had called her from, she arranged a meeting. [We need to talk. Not at my place.]
Returning to her rented room, Olivia received a message from the blond man, providing her with an address.
Without hesitation, Olivia set out once again.
She arrived at a bar.
Olivia located the private room where the blond man was seated. He lounged on the couch, leisurely sipping his drink, his. face still concealed. âWhat a surprise. Gina didnât tear you apart. She just let you go.â
Olivia wasnât in the mood to entertain the blond manâs banter. Getting straight to the point, she said, âThe day you came looking for me, someone spotted you. They found you suspicious and informed Gina. Now, she probably suspects ye the one who poisoned me.â
The blond manâs demeanor changed. âWhat?â he exclaimed.
Recalling the encounter with Andy, he became agitated. âWhy would he think Iâm suspicious?â
âBecause you were completely covered up, and your blond hair is too conspicuous, Olivia explained.
Just for that?â The blond man chuckled, rising to approach Olivia. Suddenly, he grabbed her by the throat. âAre you t to deceive me? Are you the one who told Gina about me?â
His grip tightened with each passing moment.
Olivia glared at him, her frustration evident. âWhat do I gain by telling her?â
âDidnât you mention Ginaâs keen interest in tracing Coleâs connections? Logically, youâd betray me to earn her forgiveness.â

Chapter 208
âWhy would I bother coming here to give you a heads-up?â
âTo prevent any doubts from creeping in,â the blond man stated in a chilling tone.
Olivia erupted, âEnough of your self-righteousness! Weâre in the same boat now, arenât we? My grudge with Gina wonât vanish because I didnât betray you. Itâs a matter of survival between her and me!â
Oliviaâs teeth clenched as she finished, her eyes filled with hatred on the verge of spilling over.
The blond man released Olivia. âWhatâs the name of the accuser
âAndy, he lives next door to me. Remember, you canât come knocking on my door anymore,â Olivia coughed twice, rubbing her sore neck where sheâd been choked.
âHe canât stay,â the blond man said casually, as if taking Andyâs life was as trivial as a speck of dust.
âYou⦠you going to kill him?â Olivia asked.
âHeâs messed with my plans,â the blond man replied with a hint of malice.
âIf you kill someone, how do you deal with it? Olivia inquired.
The blond man looked at Olivia and chuckled, âWhatâs this? Are you trying to learn from me?â
Olivia pursed her lips.
I can make him disappear without a trace. Can you?â the blond man laughed.
Olivia remained silent.
The blond man grew curious. âWhoâs on your h
hit list?
âThe one who helped me procure the poison. If Gina finds out about him, sheâll eventually trace it back to him. Once she has evidence, she can send me to prison.â
In the past, Olivia had schemed against Gina, but Cina always managed to slip through her fingers. Otherwise, Oliviaâs actions would have landed her in prison for years. Olivia used to Vescapes were just luck, but now she realized Gina had some skills.
Still, Olivia couldnât fathom how Gina survived such a hefty dose of poison. It was beyond belief.
âPrison? Whatâs there to fear? I have ways to get you out as long as youâre alive. But youâve got to be useful. You said you found the source, so where is it?â
Oliviaâs heart skipped a beat. She had only mentioned finding a potential source in desperation, hoping to appea She hadnât expected him to remember.
âYou lied to me?â The manâs patience wore thin. âOlivia, Iâve got limited patience. This isnât a game. Looks like you worthless, of no value. Our partnership ends.â
Olivia panicked. âI didnât lie to you. I did find a potential target, but youâve got to give me time. Let him willingly ag the test. If I bring him to your place for matching, wonât he smell a rat?â
âAnd then he turns the tables and rats us out, putting us both in hot water. What then?â Olivia said.
The blond man fell silent for a moment. âYouâve thought this through,â he remarked. âI just hope youâre not all talk. Bu youâre as sure as you sound, then Iâll trust youâve got your target lined up. Best bring him to me soon; organs in demand fetch quite the price.â

But what good was a hefty profit? Right then, he owed Gina a hefty sum, and as soon as that money landed in her hands, it was drawn right over to her.
Yet, Olivia had her agenda. She locked eyes with the blond man. Iâm willing to do your bidding, but youâll ensure my safety. wonât you?
Though Olivia wasnât sure of the blond manâs standing in the criminal underworld, anyone involved in such deadly dealings: must have significant power backing them. She could align herself with that power, use it to ensure her survival.
âOf course,â the blond man nodded. âIf you perform well, excel even, Iâll be sure to reward you handsomely.â
