Chapter 552
Between Ruin And Resolve: My Ex-Husband’s Regret
Chapter 552:
âWhy did you come back so early today?â she ventured cautiously.
Noah fixed his gaze on her. âI wrapped up early at the company, so I returned,â he explained, his voice even and emotionless.
Sadie observed him, her unease mounting.
She sensed that Noah was withholding something.
âNoah,â she started, her voice tinged with hesitation, âthereâs something I need to discuss.â
âWhat is it?â he inquired.
Taking a deep breath to steady herself, Sadie revealed, âAlex⦠he wants to work with you.â
Noahâs expression sharpened immediately, his focus intensifying as he regarded Sadie.
âAlex?â His tone was edged with a chill. âHe wants to collaborate with you?â
âYes,â Sadie confirmed. âHe mentioned that his father orchestrated the recent events, and heâs looking to put an end to his fatherâs plan.â
A wry smile appeared on Noahâs lips.
âPut an end to his fatherâs plan? What right does he have to stop anything?â
Sadie met his gaze earnestly.
âHe claims he has evidence of his fatherâs crimes and is willing to share it with you if you agree to collaborate.â
Noah paused, his expression unreadable as he considered her words. The study fell into an eerie silence, punctuated only by the soft ticking of the wall clock.
Sadie observed Noah, her anxiety mounting with each passing second.
âWhat do you think?â Noah finally broke the silence.

Sadie was surprised; she hadnât expected him to seek her opinion.
Sadie hesitated, searching for the right words. âI think itâs worth considering.â
âReally?â Noahâs voice held a hint of amusement. âDo you think I should trust him?â
âI donât know,â Sadie admitted, shaking her head slightly.
Noahâs gaze was intense, filled with complex emotions.
Sadieâs heart felt heavy.
âI justâ¦â She paused, struggling to find the words.
âJust what?â Noah prompted.
âI just donât want you to be blindsided,â Sadie said, taking a deep breath and holding his gaze. âThereâs a lot of bad blood between you and the Howe family, but I hope you can approach this calmly and not let anger cloud your judgment.â
Noah watched her, his expression softening slightly.
âI see,â he said slowly. âIâll think about it.â
Sadie exhaled in relief.
âThank you, Noah,â she murmured.
Sadie exited the study, closing the door softly behind her.
The gentle light in the hallway washed over her, yet it did little to lift the heaviness in her heart.
A persistent barrier of unspoken words seemed to separate her and Noah, making him seem distant.
As she descended the stairs, Noahâs penetrating gaze lingered in her mind.
