Chapter 572
Too Late, Mr. Billionaire: You can’t afford me now
Chapter 572:
A heavy feeling settled in Ericâs stomach. This request seemed just as unattainable as the apology from Linda.
âHadley.â He began to make his case. âLinda has been a part of my life since childhood. Sheâs important to meâ¦â
âYou canât do it, can you?â Hadley dismissed his attempts with a wave of her hand, her interest waning. âWhy continue discussing this then?â
She knew he wouldnât agree.
That was precisely her pointâto ask for something he couldnât provide.
âSo.â Hadley gave a resigned shrug. âItâs not that Iâm not offering you a chance, itâs that youâre not showing any real commitment. It seems we canât move forward together.â
Hadley released his tie and threw up her hands.
âYou actually donât need me, Eric. Any woman could serve as a tempt for you. Given your position, thereâs no shortage of candidates.â She offered a dry smile. âI sincerely hope you find someone suitable quickly. Farewell.â
With those final words, her smile waned, and she turned away, her back to him.
Ericâs gaze lingered on her retreating figure, his expression growing darker by the second.
The following day was different for Hadley.
Instead of her usual dance rehearsals, she was scheduled for a photo shoot for promotional material, involving an external crew.
Upon arriving, she noticed Elissa and the makeup artist were already present.
âAm I late, Elissa?â
âNot at all.â Elissa gestured dismissively toward the venue. âMight not even matter today. We might be delayed.â

âWhatâs happening?â
âTake a look.â Elissa lowered her voice.
There was an issue with the venueâthe previous team who had booked it was still occupying it.
With only ten minutes left, they showed no intention of wrapping up. The dance troupe wouldnât be able to start on time.
âItâs a big star,â Elissa whispered, her tone dropping even further into gossip mode.
âWho is it?â Hadley engaged with a light chuckle, ready to dive into the rumors.
Elissa whispered, revealing the name discreetlyââLinda Harris.â
Hadley hesitated for a moment, a flicker of recognition in her eyes. A big star indeed.
âTheyâre filming a commercial. Thereâs a standoff between Linda and the director,â Elissa said, her lips forming a tight line. âTypical big star behavior, even arguing with directors.â
With the space still occupied, their plans were stalled. Hadley commented with a grin, âI need to use the restroom. Iâll be right back.â
âSure,â Elissa responded casually.
As Hadley walked away, her lack of familiarity with the venue led her astray, mistakenly wandering into the filming area.
âSorry to interrupt,â Hadley said, glancing around uncertainly. She was just about to request directions, asking, âCould you show me the way toââ
However, she was cut off mid-sentence as the person she approached spun around to face her.
âLinda.â She recognized her instantly, as Linda stood with her arms crossed and a smirk.
âOver there is your way out,â Linda pointed dismissively.
