To make matters worse, the scattered Wolf Warrior Unit soldiers regrouped after the explosion, encircling them to finish off the weakened enemies.

Fortunately, Aora had a sense of loyalty to the Toad King. Hence, he risked his life to drag the battered Toad King away, resulting in a harrowing escape, with their lives barely intact. They were so desperate that they nearly lost their pants in the process.

Just like Magnus and Mackenzie deduced, the Five Poison Sect’s basecamp was hidden within the snowy mountains, not far from the Serpent Lair.

The basecamp was well–concealed, much like the reclusive Summerton family. It was built deep within the mountains, and it was nearly impossible for outsiders to locate with the added cover of blizzards.

“Who was the genius who ordered us to assassinate Magnus? That was a terrible idea! We’re headed for total annihilation if we keep this up!” The Toad King continued his relentless complaints.

Magnus‘ cunning traps would’ve killed them long ago if it had not been for the exceptional resilience of the kings.

“Nothing’s really changed even with Isabella back!”

The Scorpion Belle added sarcastically, “At this rate, not only will the Toad King become dried–up jerky, but I might also end up as a shriveled husk!”

The Centipede Lord couldn’t help but laughs Seeing the Toad King in such a miserable state always brought him amusement.

The Scorpion Belle retorted, “What are you laughing at? That fat toad might turn into jerky, but a scrawny centipede like you wouldn’t even leave a trace if blown up!”

“Enough! Quiet!” Sitting silently with her back turned, Isabella finally spoke up to silence the group.

The war had played out as she had expected. The numerical advantage wasn’t enough to overcome the most elite forces of the Chanaea even with her return to command.

When the Toad King’s complaints grew increasingly disrespectful, Rosa, Isabella’s disciple, snapped at him coldly.

“Toad King, watch your tongue! When did my master order you to assassinate Magnus? She merely pointed out that the Wolf Warrior Unit is invincible as long as Magnus is around. It was your reckless assumption and actions!”

This remark left the Toad King speechless, prompting him to glare accusingly at Aora.

Despite his current battered state, Aora harbored no doubts about Isabella’s leadership. Without her, the Five Poison Sect wouldn’t have exhibited even half its current strength.

Hence, he knew it wasn’t Isabella’s capabilities that were lacking but the sheer power of their adversary.

The Chanaea’s most formidable force combined with the strategic genius of Magnus was a battle they couldn’t win with conventional tactics.

Even with their restraint in avoiding weapons of mass destruction, the Wolf Warrior could have annihilated the cult entirely if they unleashed their full might.

“Aora!” Isabella finally broke her silence.

“Yes!” Aora immediately bowed respectfully.

The scene was somewhat ironic.

Aora, who had technically left the group, displayed the most genuine reverence toward Isabella of all the cult’s leaders. Meanwhile, he showed the official leaders only superficial loyalty.

“I have a task for you.” After a brief pause, Isabella dismissed the other three leaders with a glance, intending to give instructions to Aora privately.

When her instructions were conveyed, Aora’s expression revealed understanding. He nodded, evidently agreeing with Isabella’s strategy.

There was only one viable path forward if they were to have any chance of turning the tide, preserving the cult, and eliminating Mackenzie.

After Aora departed, Isabella instructed Rosa, “I need to leave for a while. Pretend that I’m still at the base. Keep everyone engaged in the fight, but no one acts without my orders.”

“Yes!” Rosa quickly agreed.

Meanwhile, Mackenzie had deployed a strategy. However, her camp received an unexpected visitor instead of the anticipated attack from the Five Poison Sect. An envoy from the Allied Forces, Ken, came.

Ken arrived at the camp and was surprised to find Mackenzie absent. He was greeted by Aurora, who was left in charge.

“Ken, what brings you here?” Aurora asked bluntly.

“General, I’ve brought reinforcements from the West End to support Ms. Quillen. Has she not informed

“Yes, I authorized their arrival, though I didn’t expect them to take this long.”

Safely guarded by Rhett, Mackenzie received the report and immediately grew suspicious.

She knew Ken’s opportunistic tendencies, and his late arrival left her unsure of his intentions.

“Aurora, have him wait for now. We’ve captured the Serpent Lair, but I have more pressing matters to attend to.”

Mackenzie decided to delay meeting him until they had secured their position within the lair. Any potential benefits he sought to reap would be of little consequence then.

“Yes, Your Holiness!” Aurora followed her orders.

After ending the call, Mackenzie led a small squad with Rhett to enter the Serpent Lair.

At the gates, now firmly secured by the Wolf Warrior Unit, Mackenzie finally regrouped with Magnus and the others within the fortress walls.

“Where are Quintus and Solana?” Mackenzie was deeply concerned about the two.

After all, their decision to avoid the indiscriminate bombing of the Serpent Lair during the assault was primarily to ensure their survival.

Anna quickly provided an update. “Your Holiness, when we breached the Serpent Lair, we found no trace of them and the Serpent King. However, we did discover a hundred female specimens, likely corpses.”

“They’re gone?” Mackenzie frowned. Though she didn’t particularly like Quintus, she always regarded him as a close ally.

Besides, both he and Solana were key Wolf Warrior Unit leaders. Hence, she couldn’t afford for anything to happen to them.
