Starting to feel a lot like home
BLOOD MOON: The Lycan Alpha's Little Witch
Dimitri's point of view
Could she feel it too?
That irresistible pull towards each other. I could feel something so strong, so undeniably when she hugged me, I felt something I have never felt before.
I have had numerous companions, and countless women that I have used over the time to fulfill my needs, but never have I once felt like this with any of them. This felt so true and so compelling. I had to fight to keep Luca in control whenever she was around me.
When we hugged, there was no way of denying our mate bond. It was pulling our souls together like a forceful magnet.
That wasn't it. There was indeed something else special about her, I couldn't read her thoughts. It was impossible, I could read every single supernatural creature in existence but I couldn't with her. Reading thoughts was one of my special abilities as a Lycan but for the first time ever, there was someone I couldn't see through. It was frustrating and at the same time a challenge.
It was like she was a human but at the same time like she was something else--something more.
I recall what I had read on her files compiled by Lance, it was full of many tragedies. She was an orphan at a very young age too, I couldn't stop myself from sympathizing with her on that, I for one knew how it felt to lose both your parents. She was moved from one foster care system to another, with no one willing to adopt her.
In the end, she got adopted by a wasted drunk and drug abuser, I wonder how the system could give her out to an abuser like that. If the old man wasn't already dead I swear I would have killed him myself. I couldn't control this sudden need I was feeling to protect her from the eyes of the world, I couldn't explain it but I just knew that I needed to keep her safe.
But one of the things that really caught my attention from her file, was the fact that she never really settled down in one place for long. It seemed like she was always on the move, from town to town living in hiding. It was like she was running from something. There were a lot of secrets surrounding my little mate, Isabelle Simmons.
Yes, I knew her real name from the first time I saw her, I don't really know why she had to lie but she must have been in serious trouble to want to conceal her real identity from us, so me and my pack went with her lie and regarded her as Natalie.
I let my mind wander on these thoughts as I stood there on the balcony, peering into the moon. I could hear two female voices talking- I identified one of the voices as Isabella's and the other as Rubi. What the fuck was she doing back here.
I quickly rushed back inside to find Rubi holding on to Isabelle's arm, blocking her path.
'What was this bitch doing now?' I sighed in frustration. I knew Ruby would be back today from her trip to her grandparents pack, but couldn't she last a minute without stirring up any drama.
"Stupid human! Listen here, Dimitri is mine, just mine alright. He belongs to only me! And I don't want to even see you around him, you do not even dare to look at him!" That crazy woman screamed, glaring at my mate. She was really crazy to believe that there was something between us.
I was about to step in and put Rubi in her place. Because I allow her to warm my bed, that doesn't give her any right to insinuate that there's an us. There was no relationship between us, she was just one of my sluts.
Luca kept urging me to step in before the situation turned ugly but I waited. I wanted to see what would happen next, mostly I wanted to see what Isabella could do.
"Gosh, you're so annoying," Isabella chuckled, rolling her eyes at Rubi. "No wonder why he only fucks you."
And in a fluid motion, Rubi hit her. Rubi hit my mate. I felt my blood boil in rage at the sight.
HOW DARE SHE LAY A FINGER ON HER?!
A smile lit on my mate's face as she looked back at Rubi with a fire sparking in her eyes.
"This is the real difference between me and you. I know when fighting you don't slap, you punch first." She said, immediately sending her fist colliding with Rubi's jaw, not even seconds after.
Rubi stumbled back as she threw an uppercut breaking her nose.
Blood spewed from Rubi's nose profusely, as she screamed out in pain. She fell to her knees, her face covered with her own blood.
I ran to them, both of them now staring at me but my eyes were on isabella. I stared at her, catching a glimpse of her electric blue eyes.
"She slapped me first!" Isabelle quickly defended, but she didn't need to, I watched the whole thing and I was proud that she defended herself well. I could feel my blood boil in anger, both Luca and I were willing to tear up anyone that looked at her the wrong way and this whore just slapped her.
How dare she touch my mate! I didn't need Isabelle to say anything else, I knew that Ruby had to be at fault here. Ruby has always felt the need to cause unnecessary drama wherever she goes. Part of me feels like it's my fault for making her feel entitled and thinking she could pass as my mate or even the future Luna to my pack. But she was only good for fucking, she lacked all the good qualities to make a good Luna.
'It is your fault.' Luca wasted no time in pointing that out. But he was right. I won't deny Ruby was pretty attractive. Okay, very attractive and on most occasions she served well to blow off some steam, so I guess I can see why she had it all confused.
I told Isabelle to leave and that I would handle the situation. I would make sure a situation like this never repeats itself again.
I picked up Ruby by the arm, as she continued spitting her venom.
"Don't just let her go. How dare she! A lowly human lay her hand on me. Dimitri, you have to kick her out of here now! Kick her outttt!" She screamed, throwing a tantrum. As soon as we made it to her chambers, I held her by her throat pushing her up against the wall behind her.
"How DARE you lay those filthy hands of yours on my mate!" Luca and I growled at her, earning a shocked look from her. My eyes had changed from their natural color to bloodshot red. I could feel her entire body trembling in fear.
"Dimitri- i-m I'm sorry-" she quickly pleaded for her life, her face turning red.
"You will not ever come near her. You won't even dare to look at her because if you do it will be the end of you. Have I made myself clear!!!" I gritted out, as she just nodded to every word I said. I let her go, as she gasped for breath. I left her alone today but I can't guarantee I will be able to stop Luca the next time she steps out of line.
I was going to make sure no one ever hurts my mate again
Isabelle's POV
Hmmmm. I slowly inhaled the freshly made cup of coffee that Gemini had prepared. "Gosh, it tastes so nice Gem." I stopped, watching as she blushed uncontrollably, her face turning red.
It's been over a week now since my arrival here and since the awkward scene that happened between me and Rubi and I must say, so far so good. Everyone has been completely nice to me, and by everyone I mean the entire mafia cult, community, town and civilization. I paused, confused at what to call this immensely large population living in the castle and some in other houses close to each other. I didn't really know much about mafias but I always thought they would be violent and vane but that wasn't true. This mafia was nice. They were good and loved each other deeply, I could see it in the way they looked out for one another and treated everyone like family.
Here they all see me as part of this their family which I won't deny felt nice to be part of something. To have somewhere to belong. This place has started to feel like home to me. But these past few days have really been weird. I act as if I don't notice anything and as if there isn't anything wrong but questions have begun stirring inside of me.
Like why do they live so secluded? They act really cut off from the world. They all hardly ever go out to town except for groceries and stuff and there are people who deliver everything they need.
And why do I always get the feeling like they are keeping something from me, maybe something they don't want me finding out about.
Also what are the strange noises I hear around the house, like wild animals were kept closely. And at night I hear howling from deep in the forest.
And what's up with Dimitri and the big bad Alpha title given to him. They all make him seem like their supreme king. I sighed again frustrated at more questions that kept on popping out, because yet I have managed to trust all these people.
I made my way to my room, passing by Dimitri's office. The door was slightly opened which gave me access to see into the room.
There he was. God's most perfect creation. Dimitri was really extremely handsome only a blind bat wouldn't think he was. It was effortless to him.
He was seated in his big chair having a serious discussion with two strangers, a man and a strange woman. He was there talking in a serious tone looking hot without even trying hard. Black was his natural color, as he was wearing a black collar shirt, the sleeves folded up to his elbows, showing off his arm veins and sets of tattoos. Strands of hair dangling loosely above his eyebrow, which I so badly wanted to pull back and allow my hands to rummage through those silky hair of his.
Getting lost In his eyes, mesmerized by God's masterpiece. Before I could sink even deeper I felt his stare boring through me.
Oh shit! I was caught staring and drooling like a creep.
Immediately I looked away, and raced for my room down the hall.
'What the hell was wrong with me?' I questioned myself as I entered my room. I really hope he didn't notice me. What were these feelings I felt towards him? I couldn't explain what they were, but what was worse was that I liked it.
Dimitri's point of view
"How can this be possible?! why couldn't I read her thoughts?" I screamed in frustration, keeping my tone in check. "She's a human, listening in on her thoughts should be easier. I have looked into the mind of sentient beings so why couldn't I see into hers?." the more I thought about it the more pissed off I got.
A week had gone by and still I wasn't able to see into her thoughts. It was as if her mind had an invisible lock, protecting it from any penetration, which was impossible if she was human.
"Calm down alpha. I have watched her from afar and she possesses a very powerful aura. probably because she was fated to be our Luna. and your mate. Maybe it was a gift from the moon goddess." For the hundredth time, I heard Celeste explain as she did this past few days. Celeste was our pack's head witch. she has always been there for me and the pack, she didn't have to but she did anyway. Ever since I saved her years ago, she has been like a motherly figure for the pack using her witchcraft to protect the pack anyway she could. She even created a barrier and a cloaking spell, therefore making any unwanted visitor be it human, vampire, werewolf or witch unable to see or find our pack.
My eyes suddenly noticed the figure which stood by the door.
"Isabelle!" I muttered to myself, as my eyes widened, she kept on staring at me, probably so lost in her thoughts that she didn't notice that I was looking right back at her.
She looked enchantingly beautiful. she was putting on a long baby pink blouse, which ran down to her hands. her hair was pushed over to the side giving me the opportunity to catch a glimpse of her soft white skin, exposing enough cleavage for a marking. I could feel Luca growl In excitement, wanting to grab hold of her and mark her as his... mine. I guess she soon realized that I had spotted her as she hastily made her way to get room.
"Alpha!" Alaric called after me, seeking an answer to the problem we had on ground.
We were facing something quite strange that never happened before. Creatures were suddenly flooding every corner of Bournville. This was unusual and was a reason to be alarmed, something wasn't right. They all were looking for something, it was as if they were all drawn here for the same reason. We just needed to know what it was before a war broke out.
Some were even found stalking around our pack's territory.
"Double the pack's defenses. I need to be alerted about anything happening close to our territory. As usual, anyone found trespassing should be killed." I told him.
"I will do as you have instructed Alpha." Alaric spoke up. He was our pack's general. Celeste and him were the only ones I could really trust with my life, well after Lance and Gabe of course.
"Good. I need to get ready for the council's meeting." I dismissed them, walking out to my room for a shower. I needed it badly, I needed to let loose of the suffocation I felt deep within me. I let the water rush from my head down to my toes, I still couldn't stop myself from thinking about her. I hated this. I hated this magnetic pull I felt towards her.
"She can't be mine!" I say, running my hands through my hair. 'For her good after all this is settled she will have to return back. She is human after all and I was nothing more than an abandoned fate. I will only put her in danger if I choose to keep her.'
I knew this was the only truth, to protect my mate I must let go of her. I heard Luca whimper in sadness.
