Chapter 1067

Spoiled by the President

Nell opened her eyes wide in bewilderment. At the same time, Gideon looked dumbfounded too.

After that, the two of them fell into the ocean.

Nell never knew that a long time ago, she and Gideon had once gone through this scenario. Although she was unwilling to go through this again, it was no mistake that the bullet had penetrated through their bodies.

She did not know who the perpetrator was, yet she had a feeling that Gideon did.

All she knew was that her lost memories came rushing back to her at that moment. She remembered the time they had spent together when they were living back at the condo. She remembered falling in love with Gideon because of how caring he was towards her.

Although he was rather quiet most of the time, he was always so gentle when it came to her.

She remembered them staying up on the balcony in the middle of the night, talking about his passions and ambitions in life. He told her about the things she never understood in life. He talked about nuclear, thousand-year-old beasts, and even the wonders of outer space. These were the things they talked about.

At that time, she felt as if she was listening to a story written by the gods. She remembered all that respect she stored for him, and how she looked up to him.

It was probably at that time that she decided she would do anything to achieve his plans, even if it meant that she had to sacrifice herself. After all, from what he said, there would be no peace in the world if no sacrifice was made.

She realized that it really was not up to her to make some things right.

As the rescuers pulled her out of the ocean, they also saved Gideon.

However, they had not met ever since that incident.

Since she was heavily wounded due to the gunshot, it did not seem like she would make it out of this alive.

Subconsciously, she heard someone say, “She knows too much. We can’t let her live anymore. She must die.”

Before the perpetrator could do anything, another person had stopped him short. “No, Leith will definitely track us down if she dies. If he knows that we did it, nothing good will befall us too.”

“What do you propose to do then?”

“Wipe her memory clean and throw her into the ocean. Whether she survives this or not is up to fate.”

“Fine, it’s been decided then.”

Never did Nell imagine that the finale she always pursued after would end this way. Tears streamed down her face as she watched the man lying silently by her side, completely oblivious to what was happening around him.

So, this was it.

This was the truth that she always wanted to know.

He did not want this to happen, yet you could not deny the fact that it had happened because of him.

That was why he had been so dead set on marrying her after all this while. Was it not because of love? Did he just do it to make up for his mistakes?

Was it why, even though he could have explained to her what had happened, he had chosen not to? Was this the reason why he had decided to bury everything deep in his heart, even though she had given him more than enough chances to explain things?

So, this was the truth.

It suddenly dawned on her why Lizzy looked so much like her as she grew up. She was no stepdaughter from the beginning. She was her daughter.

Nell was the one who had given birth to Lizzy.

Because her memories had been forcibly wiped out, so had all her ties with Gideon.

After she was saved by the Dragon Regiment, she joined the Regiment and decided to transfer to a new school for convenience. Therefore, he decided not to contact her.

Was this all really the truth?

Nell saw her tears dripping from her face.

Closing her eyes, she told herself to let it be and accept her fate. Since this was really the truth, she has no other way but to accept reality.

Nell suddenly opened her eyes wide open.

Blinking hard, she realized that she was still lying in that luxurious room. It was the same room that reeked of fragrance.

Resting on the soft futon, she was still the same woman she had been before the incident. Everything was the same, yet something had changed.

Jeff no longer stood next to her. Instead, he sat opposite her.

Rays of sunlight shot into the room, but Nell could not feel its warmth. All she felt was a numbing cold, depriving her of her senses as it sunk deep into her bones.

Raising his eyebrows, Jeff looked at her and asked, “Do you remember now?”

Nell’s complexion looked ghastly. Glancing back at Jeff, she asked, “All those things that I’ve seen...were they real?”

“Definitely.”

Confused, Nell asked, “Why? How come I couldn’t remember anything back then? Why now?”

“It’s because I just fed you some Pure Essence. They wiped out your memories back then by sealing them into a small part of your brain. As you already had a few flashbacks about these memories, I simply just gave your brain a bit of supplement and helped you regain your memories,” Jeff placed down the teapot as he said this, smiling as he looked at her.

“Do you understand now why Gideon went back to you?”

Nell was at a loss for words.

Lowering his voice, Jeff said, “He was never the President of Leith Corporation, to begin with. His real identity was the leader of X-Organization instead, and this organization was built solely to deal with me. You should know that I mean no one harm. I just want to revive Zeezee with the twelve pieces of Arcane Jades. Shouldn’t I fight back if they won’t let me?”

Nell pressed her lips into a firm line, lost in her thoughts.

Her face darkened the moment he said this. “Rubbish! Gideon would never do anything to hurt me!”

“Really? If he didn’t want to hurt you, why did he choose not to tell you the truth? Why did he pretend that nothing happened?”

Nell felt faint. “What are you saying? He owns...”
