Chapter 108

I Refuse to Divorce!

Zoe's ears were indeed red. She gripped the drawer with her slim

hands and tried to stop him from peering into it.

“It's nothing! I bought a new perfume and I had just unwrapped it."

“Oh, I see.” Reacting out of his character, he spoke slowly, “Give it a

whirl! I want to smell it. Don't they always say a perfume makes a

lady?"

His voice was flirty but it carried a hint of a threat. Zoe couldn't find it in

her to say no to him.

He had pulled open the drawer completely as they spoke. True enough,

there was a bottle of perfume in there. He took it and squeezed some

of the perfume behind her ear. It was probably due to the sudden burst

of air, but her ear actually trembled lightly.

Mason's eyes grew darker at that.

Holding her perky shoulders, he pressed his face against her neck and

brushed her ear with his nose. Then, he spoke in his husky, seductive

voice, “You smell so good.”

She couldn't help but tremble lightly. “Mason!”

Chuckling, he said, “You're still on your period. Do me a favor and stop

tempting me!”

At that moment, he acted as if he was discovering her diary for the first

time and paged through it before she could stop him. Wearing a casual,

lazy expression, he read it with one hand while holding his wife with

another.

Not only was he reading it, but he was vocalizing the contents. The

diary was full of her thoughts and emotions back when she was a

sweet, naive eighteen-year-old. It was especially embarrassing to have

him reading them out loud.

“Mason ignored me for the whole day!”

“I gave him some snacks, but he didn’t even bother to look at them.

Does he hate me?"

“Okay. if he hates me, then why would he lend me his coat when I was

having my period and stained my skirt? Perhaps he secretly loves me?

That's it. 'm sure he'll fall in love with me tomorrow!”

Zoe's eyes and ears turned red and burned up. She might not love

Mason anymore, but it was still embarrassing for him to read her diary.

She felt naked in front of him. Biting her lip, she was about to say

something when a platinum business card fell out of her diary.

It was Liam's business card.

It was as if time itself had frozen. She stiffened, unsure of what Mason

would think when he saw the business card. She hesitated to imagine

the sort of things he'd put her through if he could guess that she

planned to cast him aside after he had outlived his usefulness.

In fact, he might very well torture her right there and then. He might tell

her to give up the foolish thoughts about divorcing him!

She trembled, but it wasn't because she was weak. Instead, it was

because she had been married to him for three years and she knew his

character all too well. He had a bad temper and he wasn't particularly

patient with her, either.

To her surprise, none of her fears came to pass.

Mason merely glanced at the business card and asked in the most

casual manner, “Why do you have Liam’s business card? Have you

been seeing him lately?"

Hearing that, she relaxed a little. Lowering her gaze, she responded, “I

talk to him about Noah's case from time to time.”

He proceeded to ask about the progress of her brother's case. It was

much more relaxing when he wasn't flirting with her. She answered

every question he asked.

All of a sudden, she stopped talking. Mason lifted her and set her on

the makeup table. Her exposed thighs touched the gold surface of the

table. It was midnight and the table was subtly cold. The chill seeped

into her body.

He stroked the back of her ear with his middle finger and spoke in a

lazy, flirtatious tone, “Why aren't you wearing a bra?”

She couldn't bring herself to look at him in this embarrassing situation.

Closing her eyes lightly, she lifted her chin and said, “I just took a bath.

I was about to head to bed!"

He chuckled and continued to caress her. It was nothing too serious, he

was merely toying with her tenderly. He kissed the back of her ear and

muttered lovingly, “How tender! We've been married for many years

now. How do you still feel so soft, like a young girl?”

Zoe was teased so badly that she was on the brink of a meltdown.

At that moment, his phone rang. It was Ava.

Ava sounded agitated. “There's an emergency at the hospital, Mr.

Mason! One of the nurses mistakenly gave Ms. Lilith the wrong

medicine when she was setting up the IV drip. She became violently ill

and even passed out for a short while earlier!”

Mason's eyes were still fixed on Zoe when he answered the phone. He

had been watching her expression, trying to catch the slightest reaction

on her face.
