You can see her?!
The heroic villainess
This chapter's song is: Can't you see me? By TXT!
Sylvia's POV:
I'm currently trying to figure out how the hell this happened...
"I insist, please take my textbook, miss Lily," Ace says as he holds his textbook in front of Lily.
"No, I insist, take my textbook, I even annotated it for better understanding," Lucas argued. Well... I guess I should start from the beginning...
It was our first week back from our holidays and officially is the start of the game where the heroine should encounter lots of very romantic yet cliche scenarios. This scenario has happened before but now I'm totally confused...
Currently, I am standing with Rillaine, watching both our fiancée's arguing on whose book shall be lent to Lily who has forgotten hers yet again.
"It'll be quite a disgrace for the crown prince of Hefelia to not have a textbook in class," Lucas said.
"Likewise for the crown prince of Drogoria." Lily had this big smile plastered on her face while she watched the boys fight.
"Boys please don't fight over me!" She says in a fake worried tone.
"Both of you quit it, I cannot allow either of you not to have your textbook for the class. Miss Lily, take my textbook instead," Allen offered.
"What the hell Allen, butt out," Lucas snarls at Len.
"No way, I know what you're doing, like hell I'd let you share with Rin," Len snarls back. Oh, so that's what it's about. Lucas wants to give up his textbook so he and Rin can share, and I'm guessing Ace also wants to do that to me. Lily over there is having the time of her life. I'm guessing she didn't hear what Len said.
"Sylvia... Does Lucas want to help miss Margaret that much...?" Rin whispers to me, looking down.
"No not really, Lucas would never do something unless it's for his own personal gain," I reply.
"Then... By personal gain... You mean he likes miss Margaret?!" Rin exclaims.
"OH NO NO NO NO NO that's not what I meant! He definitely likes you Rillaine, look how well he treats you, he always gives you his slice of dessert and always goes on picnics with you," I list rapidly. Imagine if Lucas found out that I turned Rin against him. No thanks, I value life.
"But... Why is he giving his textbook to miss Margaret then?" Rin asks. Really? You don't see he's just trying to share with you? Oh my poor sweet Rin, you're too innocent for this world.
"It's obviously because he feels inclined to help the less fortunate," I say without giving away any hints of Lucas's love. He's a yandere so I'd rather not ruin any of his plans. Thank god he's a good yandere and not like those 'I'm going to kill everyone to be with you' or 'I'm going to kill you so we can both be together' yandere.
"You're right... He's so thoughtful..." Excuse me? We're talking about Lucas here, aren't we?
"I should reflect on myself! Here miss Margaret have my textbook instead!" Rillaine grabs her textbook and places it in Lily's hands.
"Oh, you don't need to do that Rin..." Len tries to speak but was interrupted by professor Ozpin walking into the class.
"Everyone get to your seats, we have much to do today and not much time to do it. Sit down!" He orders.
I laugh silently at Allen and Ace's sullen faces as they walk back to their seats with their textbooks. Me and Violet exchange looks of exhaustion as we sit down. Lucas was practically beaming when he got to share his textbook with Rin but he managed to hide it under his very scary aura.
The lesson was about magical geography so basically about where dragons live and the climate change depending on the region. It was actually very interesting, especially learning about the sapphire continent.
"Say, sir Lucas, you hail from the Sapphire kingdom. Would you like to share any information on Drogoria?" Professor Ozpin asks.
"Sure, Drogoria is lovely, so long as you don't die in border patrol," Lucas says nonchalantly. His statement shook up most of the class, including me. Rillaine however, wasn't affected as usual because she got distracted by a passing sparrow. Lucas and Rillaine remind me a lot of Hades and Persephone.
"W-well let's move on... In three months, we shall be taking a residential trip to the sapphire continent. Due to our new agreement of trade, Prevelia has opened its border exclusively to Royal-approved guests. Thanks to crown prince Ace, this year we have all been approved entrance into Prevelia. However, should any student show any misconduct in these three months, then you shall be taken off the trip. I expect you to all be on your best behaviour, now turn your page to chapter 67."
I couldn't contain my excitement. Prevelia, the land of elves and dwarves and cute little fairy sprites! Oh, thank the Lord! You can't get any more fantasy than fairies!
"Ahem, miss Scilla, would you like to answer the question of how do crisper willows turn their surroundings into an oasis?" Professor Ozpin asks as he looks at me.
"The willows cry every winter to mourn their lost loved trees and their tears are naturally collected to turn the land into a river," I answer.
"Correct, as expected of the daughter of a duke, now let's see... Miss Margaret, could you tell me what crisper means in Gria?" Prof Ozpin asks.
"Um... Crisper willows... I'm sorry... I don't know..." Lily looks down in shame as a few snobby noble girls laugh at her.
"Crisper means weeping in Gria," Ace interrupts, making everyone's attention turn on him.
"Correct your highness, I do hope you study more miss Margaret, it is important for every student in this elite academy to know at least some basic Gria."
Lily's making goo goo eyes at Ace again... Oh well. It's not like Ace is looking at her back or we would have a problem. And to be honest, I'm finding school much more fun. I mean, there's magic mixed in with almost everything.
That girl is staring lasers at your poor fiancée's back. Oh, when did you appear Luna?
I just came back from some important business, it's not like I can laze about all day. I thought that's all you did. Where's Astro? I haven't seen him in a while.
That mutt also has business to attend to, no matter what you think of us, we still are the rulers of the forbidden forest and we do have to return every now and then to see if it's okay. I see.
Back to your fiancée, he's sure looking uncomfortable. Ace? He looks more or less the same to me.
I can see into his thoughts, he's definitely uncomfortable, his Royal status doesn't allow him to show it though. You should protect him from lingering homewreckers... I follow Luna's gaze to lily who now looked away frantically and then at her book.
Lily? Nah she's not much of a challenge.
I'm warning you now, she's an oddball like you. I can't seem to read her mind but I can certainly read her features and I'm telling you now she has eyes for your man. In the forest, we would eradicate animals like her, they're no good.
Well, this is the academy and sadly I can't murder her. Besides, I'm more concerned with those idiots who are staring lasers at me.
In my hand was a mirror that was showing me the dirty gazes of a few noble boys beside Lily. Don't they know that they're being so obviously hostile?
Those rats? D'you want me to gut them for you?
No, I'm good. I'm pretty sure I can handle a few boys.
Whatever you say, annoying professor 12 o'clock.
"Miss Scilla, eyes at the front, please. You seem to think you're very smart to not listen to my lecture. Now, do you know the answer to what special ability do the Feline Faunus have that allows them to live in places with little to no sunlight?"
I freeze, how the hell did it go from trees to Faunus?! Suddenly, something touches my hand, I glance to the side to see Ace's finger tracing something on my leg. N...I...g...
"Ni...ght... Vi...Sion?" I say slowly, unsure.
"Correct, it seems you were paying attention." Soon after the bell rang and I let out a large sigh.
"It seems my dearest fiancée was distracted this lesson? What were you so focused on?" Ace asks.
"Nothing much, I was just daydreaming about the trip," I lie.
"Oh, so what was your furry friend saying that made you look back twice?"
I twirl around to meet Ace's usual poker face. He saw all that?! I could've sworn he was looking at his book all the time. But the real question was how the hell could he see Luna.
"Oh wow, plot twist of the year. I guess it's no use camouflaging now," Luna says as she changes her eyes from her usual black crystalline to a dark blue.
"How do you do? My name is Luna the midnight cat, and I am the familiar of lady Sylviana De Crystal Scilla," Luna introduces.
"And I am Ace Von Klioth Hefelia, the crown prince of Hefelia and the fiancée of lady Sylviana De Crystal Scilla," Ace introduced back.
"Hold up hold up. How can you see Luna?!" I question.
"Well, it wasn't like a powerful Mage like him couldn't see through my camouflage," Luna says as she lays in Ace's arms.
"That is true, I could see her and your other familiar since the moment we met," Ace adds as he starts stroking Luna.
"Why didn't you ever tell me this?!" I ask.
"You never asked," Ace replies calmly.
"He has a point. I must say, you really lucked out master, your fiancée is so handsome, and is a very good stroker. Meow."
"Zip it, Luna," I snarl.
"Now don't be mean to the kitten, they are such majestic creatures, especially this one with fur as dark as the midnight sky and eyes as shiny as the full moon," Ace says as he strokes Luna even more which causes her to purr.
"Ok enough, I can't handle this headache so I'm just going to ignore it. You... You're on another level if you could see Luna," I say as I rub my temples together.
"Well I am the crown prince, it's only natural for me to excel in everything," Ace says.
"Another good point," Luna agrees.
"As I said before, shut it, Luna," I say as I take a deep breath. "Right, I think I should head to lunch. Dwelling on this would just give me another headache."
"I shall be right with you, I just need to speak with the professor about something," he says.
"Go ahead, I'll save you a seat," I say as I turn the corner and let out a sigh. If he could see Luna then that must mean he's been able to see her since we were kids. I shudder to think if he's ever walked in on me talking to her.
"Watch out, Sylvia."
Hm? I look up and immediately step back. That was close, I nearly collided with a group of boys.
"Pardon me," I say, waiting for them to move. They stopped and glared at me. I raise an eyebrow in expectance. "I said pardon me."
"Oh forgive us Miss Scilla, we must seem like utter vermin compared to you," the first boy says in a sarcastic tone.
"I must ask you to elaborate," I say, narrowing my eyes.
"We heard what you said about Lily earlier. 'Help the less fortunate.' You must look down on her a lot." Says the second boy.
"I'm sorry, did I say anything false?"
"What?"
"Miss Margaret is indeed less fortunate than myself and probably the whole school. I didn't mean any malice behind it and even if I did, I do believe that Miss Margaret has a mouth and mind of her own, enforcing the fact that if she has a problem with what I said then she can come to me herself. I don't need her lackeys or self-righteous men trying to act like white knights confronting me in attempts to woo her."
"Watch your tongue!"
"You watch yours! Just who do you think you're talking to? I'm not your bro or even your friend. I'm not even acquainted to you so mind your manners. You're speaking to the daughter of Duke Scilla here."
"So quick to pull out your status! You think being the crown prince's fiancee makes you invincible."
"I'm invincible with or without that status. Being the fiancee of the crown prince is just a bonus. With or without him, I am Sylviana de Crystal Scilla and I'm more than happy for you to fight with me on this but I can guarantee that you will lose. I don't know your names, but I'll certainly remember your faces. Once I find out your names, I'll be sure to bring this up to my father and maybe even my future father-in-law."
"You-"
"What? Cat got your tongue? Now, for the third time. Pardon. Me." The boys parted, allowing me to finally get through and walk on. However, my mood worsened. I can't stand those who put aside all logic aside just to seem righteous. Hmph. If they were going to confront me, at least have something good to say.
I make it to the dining room and sit down next to Aiden.
"Sorry I'm late, I was preoccupied."
"Well Sylvia, you're just lucky they hadn't run out of dessert yet. The strawberry cheesecake sold out quick," Monique says.
"I love strawberry cheesecake, however, I much prefer lemon. I don't know why, maybe it's the zest?" I say.
"Rabbits also love lemon and lemon leaves, I remember one rabbit who chewed through a whole lemon but ended up getting a stomach ache. He wouldn't stop moaning. I felt so sorry for him, poor thing," Rin says.
"I remember that rabbit, you hid it in your room and nursed it back to health didn't you?" Len says.
"Yes, that one. I named him Lemon, which is quite ironic but he had this unique pale yellow fur and it just seemed fitting. I wish I kept him as a pet but he hopped off as soon as he was better. Said he had a family to go home to."
"You go through a surprising amount of pets, Rin. Let's see, you had the dog, the kitten, horse, moose, deer, donkey, spider, bird... that disgusting frog that vomited all over my shoes..." Violet cringed as she remembers her poor shoes.
"I just can't help it. They're all wonderful animals. And they all have interesting stories to tell. However, I never seem to stick with a pet. Except for maybe Raven, but he comes and goes as he pleases."
"Raven? Who's Raven?" Len asks.
"Ops. That was a secret! Nevermind!"
"I used to have a pet dog. He was amazing, but he died from eating chocolate cake." Mason says.
"Wait hold on, Rin. Who's Raven?" Len asks again.
"Do you have a pet in Drogoria?" Aiden asks.
"Yes, I have a dog," Lucas replies.
"Oh really? What's its name?" Aiden pries.
"Its name is Cerebus," Lucas says nonchalantly. I freeze. Cerebus... The three-headed dog Cerebus?!
"Rin... About Raven-" Len starts.
"Oh look! Ace is here!" Rin quickly says.
