Chapter 34

Brandon's POV

"Sir we got one of the attackers. He's still alive and he is in the dungeons." Andrew said. I didn't want to leave Alexa's side but I must know what's going on. Why so many attacks has been done these few days.

Today should have been the happiest day of my life. But with Alexa still in a coma, it's the worst. Yesterday we buried the maid, Anna, and it was so heartbreaking. But I held a blank face. When Alexa was searching for a dress with mom and Regina I got a letter saying that it's the last day you'll see her. I hurried to the town and saw this man shooting an arrow. But Alexa being Alexa had to question everything and she ended up in a coma. I missed her smile. I missed her laugh. I missed her voice.

"Brandon." Andrew snapped me from my revery and I stood up following him.

We went to the dungeons and like always. The smell was horrible. We entered a cell. A very secured one too. There was sitting a man with a horrified face.

"Who sent you!" I shouted in his face. He trembled and looked at the floor.

"E-Elena." That woman won't leave us alone! She attacked the castle 2 days ago and now she harmed my angel.

"I'm going to enjoy torturing you." I said with a smirk.

"P-please she threatened me with my family. I-I didn't want to do it." He said. I knew he wasn't lying. I looked at Andrew and he nodded knowing what I am thinking.

"Fine then. I won't harm you." He seemed relieved. "But you will work for me." He looked confused.

"What w-work?"

"You will be my spy. You'll leave and go back to Elena. You will send me everything she wants to so. Everything she's thinking of. Understood?" I said with icy eyes making him flinch under my gaze.

"Y-yes." Good. I nodded at the guards and they unchain him.

"You'll tell her that you escaped and you were hiding somewhere. I swear if you try to betray me I'll kill every single person in your family." I threatened him and he gulped.

"Okay." He managed to say. I left the dungeons to go back to the woman who holds my heart.

I sat next to her and brushed her hair. She looked pale but her breathing comforted me. I took her hand in mine and looked at her still beautiful face.

"Hey beautiful. It's the second day being in a coma. I miss you Alexa. Today I knew who attacked you and I'll make her death slow and painful. I will make her regret everything she has done to you." I sighed and kissed her hand.

"Today would have been our happy day. But every day you're still not opening your eyes is the worst day in my life. I know you're strong and you'll wake up but please hurry. I miss your smart mouth." I laughed at the end.

"You're my light angel. I'm waiting for you to brighten my life again. Every fucking minute I spent without saying I love you is a waste. I will bring a flower every day you be in a coma, and when you wake up you'll count them." I laid my head on her hand and slept.

"Brandon wake up son." A soft voice woke me up. I looked up to see Regina and mom. They smiled down at me.

"We brought you food." Mom said.

"Thank you." I ate while Regina cried looking at her daughter. I will eat and sleep. I want to be strong for her and not be weak.

"Jake and your dad are outside." Mom said. I nodded and left them. Since yesterday Jake hadn't been able to see Alexa. Poor man. I can't picture to be in his place with my daughter laying unconscious on an hospital bed.

"Hello dad." I said exiting the room.

"Hello son." I nodded at Jake and he nodded back.

"Conor."

"Yes sir?"

"Bring me two flowers." I told him.

After a while he came back with two white flowers in his hand. I entered Alexa's room and requested a vase. I filled it with water and put the two flowers in it.

"The counting starts now." I kissed her forehead. "Come back to me angel." I whispered. I've never been so vulnerable.

"Alex!" Someone gasped. Maria entered the room with tears in her eyes. The past few days Alex and Maria bonded. Maria was at her parents house. I asked Andrew to not tell her but he did today.

"Hello Maria." I said and she snapped towards me.

"Hey." She said in a low voice. I got up from my chair and allowed her to take my place.

She sat next to Alexa and I left. It was their moment right now. I'll be back when she's done. I know she had a lot to tell Alexa.

"Your majesty his highness King Ace wants your presence immediately at the castle. He said it is something important."

"I'll get going now." He bowed and went to stand with the other guards.

I took my horse and headed to the castle. The guards opened the gates bowing and I ran to my dad's office. He was sitting there looking at some papers.

"Dad." He looked up and sighed. "What's the matter?" I asked him.

"Sit down son." I sat on the chair facing him and looked at his stressed face. "The people who are after Alex became allies with Kreyelon kingdom. They want to bring us down."

"We'll be able to take them down. We have at least 5 kingdoms as our allies." I explained.

"Yes but still. Brandon. You should become king before the attacks." He said massaging his temples.

"Why?"

"Because it will he the queen in danger and not the fiance of the prince. We hope Alex wakes up soon. When the queen is in danger all the kingdoms will send their best soldiers but if she's not then they will stay aside."

"But it's not logic."

"This is a law son." Dad said.

We'll just pray that my angel wakes up soon then.
