Chapter Two: Meet The Wolves

"Adam, who's this young lady?" The Teacher asks.

"Ms, this is Megan she's new," He explains

"Right, the new student you can take a seat next to Adam," She says motioning to the seats in the back.

I go to my seat and lay down my bag by my feet.

"So Megan, do you know what this chemical formula is?" She asks as I look at the whiteboard.

I take a look and the board says 'C3H8O' which is the chemical formula for Isopropyl alcohol. I took a chemistry course during the summer so this stuff comes to mind pretty quickly.

"Isopropyl Alcohol," I say and she nods.

"Also known as rubbing alcohol but good," She says smiling.

The class goes quickly it was mostly learning about different formulas and how to decipher them.

"What's next?" Adam asks as I look at my schedule.

"Supernatural History, that's a thing?" I ask and he laughs

"Yes that's a thing, I believe Ryan and Jen have that second period so I'll take you to them," He tells me and I follow him down the hallway. "Jen!" Adam calls out when she comes into view. "Megan has supernatural history next, can you and Ryan take her?" He asks and she nods.

"Sure, let's go," She says and Adam says he'll see me later.

"So how was chemistry?" She asks

"It was good, I knew most of it because I took a course over the summer for EMT school,"

"No one has tried to eat you?" She asks

"Not yet,"

"If it does happen, stay calm vamps can smell fear in your blood,"

We meet up with Ryan and continue to walk to class.

"Megan, your parents are doctors, right?" He asks

"Yes why?"

"Ashley who's basically the mom of our pack, she's taking my little sister Grace for a checkup at the new clinic after school,"

"Don't worry you can trust them and I'll be there after school,"

"I just worry about her," He says as we walk into class.

"She's your sister, it's your job to worry,"

I sit down in the desk next to Jen as Ryan heads to the back. The teacher starts class and he decides because there is a human in the class he will go through the basics.Werewolves live in packs there are alphas which are the leaders of the packs, betas which are the protectors of the packs and omegas which are the lone wolves and they take care of the packs.

"Does that make sense?" The teacher asks

"Yeah,"

"Also if you get bit by an Alpha it will turn you," he explains and I nod.

"Now on to vampires, their history is simpler vampires can only be killed by sunlight and a stake to the heart, Rosemary is also is poisonous,"

"Don't forget about the strengths," Someone says

"Vampires are indestructible for the most part they can mess with your mind but if you have rosemary is your system they won't be able to hypnotize you,"

"Werewolves?" I ask

"Strengths are mostly like a vampire but they have night vision and they can shape shift on a full moon but if your break their neck their dead same with a silver bullet to the heart,"

"And here I thought the world was normal," I say

"Not even close," The teacher says

After school I walk across the street to the clinic. "Mom, I'm here,"

"In the back sweetie," She says. I walk to the back to see my mom going through some files. "Your dad is at home but I have an appointment today,"

"I know it's Ryan's sister,"

"Grace Parker she's six years old and a werewolf, you took supernatural medicine in EMT school?"

"Yeah, I can do the check up and you'll do the consultation,"

"Sure,"

"Do you have my medical bag?" I ask

"It's under the desk,"

"Thanks," I head over and find my purple medical bag that I got when I graduated. "Mom when's the appointment and where's the file!" I call

"15 minutes on the computer in my office!" She calls back

I go to my moms office to get everything set up and look over the file. The computer is already unlocked so I go in and find Grace's file. There isn't much which is to be expected. Just her name and her age. She's a new patient so my mom will mostly deal with the file. My phone buzzes and it's my mom telling me that Grace, her mom and Ryan are here. She's sending Grace and Ryan back.

"Megan?" Ryan questions when he sees me.

"Hey,"

"Are you the doctor?" He asks

"No, I'm just doing the check-up I took supernatural medicine,"

"Oh cool,"

I see a little girl pop out from behind Ryan , fear evident in her features.

"Looks like we have a friend," I say to Ryan and he smiles. "You must be Grace," I say gently and she nods slightly.

"Ryan, I'm scared," She tells him and it breaks my heart. He bends down to her level.

"Grace, remember when I told you that I had to show the new student around today?" He asks

"Yeah," She whispers

"Well Megan is the new student she isn't going to hurt you,"

"But I'm still scared," She says

"I know, but Megan is just going to make sure you're healthy,"

"I won't have any surprises I promise,"

"Okay," She says quietly

Ryan helps her on to the exam table. I unpack my medical bag out of her site. I put on my purple stethoscope.

"Alright, what do you want to start with your heart and lungs or your eyes and ears?" I ask gently

"Heart," She says fear still present

I warm up the bell and put the ear pieces in my ears.

"This just goes on your chest okay sweetie." She nods and I listen to her heart which is a little fast but that is understandable. I then her lungs, Her breathing is normal.

"So Grace what is your favourite colour?" I ask trying to make conversation.

"Blue,"

"Blue that's a cool colour, do you know what mine is?" I ask

"Purple?" She says

"You got it,"

I then get what I need to check her eyes and ears.

"What's that for?" She asks

"I'm going to check how good your eyes and ears are, is that okay?" I ask

"Will it hurt?" She asks

"Not at all,"

She lets me shine the light in her eyes and look in her ears. She then surprises me when she lets me check her stomach and he throat.

"You're almost done just need to see how tall you are and then my mom needs to talk about some stuff."

"Thank you Megan," Grace says

"You're welcome,"

"Thanks Megan," Ryan says and I smile

"No problem, see you in school tomorrow,"

"See you tomorrow," He says

With that I close the door behind me as I walk out to go get my mom.

"I'm finished, your turn," I tell my mom

"Okay, thank you,"

"I'm Ashley, how did Grace do?" She asks

"Great, she was afraid at first but Ryan helped and I got everything done,"

"Thank you, Ryan was right your a nice human," I smile, she then heads back with my mom. After she finishes for the day, we head home. Thankfully when we get home Dad has dinner ready for us.

"How was your day?" My mom asks as we're having dinner.

"Good I learned stuff about vampires and werewolves in supernatural history class,"

"Was it interesting?" Dad asks

"Yes, the stuff in supernatural medicine makes more sense now,"

"That's good," Mom says

I finish dinner and do my homework that I gathered today. The people I met today are nice and they don't treat me different because I'm human.

"Maybe this town won't be so bad," I think to myself.
